I ordered what I will call the regular corn. Corn, crema', paprika ,Cotija cheese, and you pick your spiciness. I went kind of gentle on the spice and mixed it in well. Delicious! You can't find cream style corn this good! They have some dishes that the Ingredient list gets downright crazy. I will have to decide which one to try! We also had the brisket and queso chips and pig candy - both were really tasty; the chips especially were very fresh and sprinkled with just a touch of bbq rub. We arrived a few minutes before they opened on a warm Saturday and the wait was about 75 minutes or so. Definitely worth standing in line for. There's ample outdoor (but covered) seating and plenty of good music playing, plus cornhole games if you're feeling competitive. Jays will be our go-to for BBQ the next time we're in Abilene! They do have restrooms so that's nice. The line gets long and they are slow in taking orders and getting the food out. This place has charm and lots of stuff to look at while waiting in the long slow line. You can go up and order beer to drink in line but my thought is that the beer is over price. Some places have free beer or free water while you wait outside in the Texas heat, not here. So the food we got made it all the way back to eat in Houston on Sunday when we got back. The true test of good BBQ is how it taste when you reheat it, all the food was good but the brisket was a bit dry 8/10, the sausage was nice 9/10 and the pork rib was good 9/10. Iced tea was fresh brewed and, though we don't drink beer, there seemed to be a wide array of craft brews on tap. I had not been there, but I heard they had really good pizza. And cheap! Good pizza at a convenience store I asked? The supreme pizza and the bacon cheeseburger pizza are both priced at $18 for a large. I don't consider that cheap. But, for memorial day weekend, pizzas are 25% off. Now it's $13.50 for a large. Ok, I'll bite. I get my pizzas home, and OMG, they are DELICIOUS! Definitely better than Dominos and Little Caesars! The bacon cheeseburger pizza has pickles on it. Pickles on a pizza? Surprise, it's delicious. It really works! No, it's not as good as Joes Italian, or Dante's, but it's definitely cheaper if you catch the sales. Yes, you have to join their club, but it's worth it. You earn points to use on food or gas. A good deal!
