Absolutely some of the best BBQ I've had in ages - and I'm a bbq snob from Kansas City!…read more We had the sampler (brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and one each of the mild and spicy sausages). I fully expected that one or two of the meats would be good and the rest just passable. I was wrong. Every single bite was spectacular. We also had the brisket and queso chips and pig candy - both were really tasty; the chips especially were very fresh and sprinkled with just a touch of bbq rub. We arrived a few minutes before they opened on a warm Saturday and the wait was about 75 minutes or so. Definitely worth standing in line for. There's ample outdoor (but covered) seating and plenty of good music playing, plus cornhole games if you're feeling competitive. Jays will be our go-to for BBQ the next time we're in Abilene! PS - if it's still available when you go, be sure to try the cherry chipotle sauce - it's amazing!

They do have restrooms so that's nice. The line gets long and they are slow in taking orders and getting the food out. We arrived around 11:15 on a Friday and the line was already long so we decided we would order to go as we need to get to Lubbock before 3:00pm. We ordered the Texas Trinity to go. This place has charm and lots of stuff to look at while waiting in the long slow line. You can go up and order beer to drink in line but my thought is that the beer is over price. Some places have free beer or free water while you wait outside in the Texas heat, not here. So the food we got made it all the way back to eat in Houston on Sunday when we got back. The true test of good BBQ is how it taste when you reheat it, all the food was good but the brisket was a bit dry 8/10, the sausage was nice 9/10 and the pork rib was good 9/10. I recommend you try Jays BBQ when in the city of Abilene, Texas

Perini Ranch Steakhouse is outstanding!…read more The 16-ounce ribeye was excellent. The beef quality was superb--thick-cut, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned without overpowering its natural flavor. While the edges were cooked slightly beyond medium due to the uneven cut, that's a very minor critique. The grilled asparagus was delicious, and the green chile hominy was absolutely amazing. Overall, I would give Perini Ranch Steakhouse a 98 out of 100. The food, atmosphere, and quality were exceptional, making it one of the best of the steakhouses I've experienced.

I left Perini Ranch Steakhouse disappointed, especially given all the hype and glowing reviews…read more We were seated outside at 5 PM when it was about 95 degrees. The outdoor seating consisted of old wooden tables and benches that were uncomfortable, and the heat alone made it difficult to enjoy the meal. To make matters worse, we spent the entire dinner fighting flies. The steaks were around $50 each, and honestly, they were underwhelming. They lacked seasoning and flavor, especially for the price point. I've had better-seasoned steaks at Texas Roadhouse and Outback for roughly half the cost. The sides were equally disappointing: bland, uninspired, and forgettable. The bread pudding was decent and was probably the best part of the meal. Overall, the combination of uncomfortable outdoor seating, excessive heat, flies, and mediocre food made for a frustrating experience. I had heard so many great things about Perini Ranch Steakhouse and expected something special, but it simply didn't live up to the reputation.

The customer service and the hospitality are worthy of a five star restaurant the food I can't even begin to explain the taste Bud sensations that are going crazy in my mouth. I got the cowboy platter and oh my God, there was so much food. I could've ate off that for a week the side dishes are on another level. My favorite has to be the cornbread, followed by the pineapple casserole. I had to come all the way from Los Angeles to find the best barbecue and I'm sure glad I did. Do not miss out on this place. It will definitely be number one on your list.

I liked the stage and wished they had a band playing and I'd definitely line dance . We decided to order brisket, sausage, corn bread, Mac and cheese and hominy. They had 2 kinds of sauces available so we tried both and they were both great. The staff taking orders were all nice too. We really enjoyed the meal, I liked everything they served and the best one was the corn bread! So delicious...I especially loved the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. Wish I could be back but this was probably my last trip to Abilene since family will relocate to another State.
