We arrived a few minutes before they opened on a warm Saturday and the wait was about 75 minutes or so. Definitely worth standing in line for. There's ample outdoor (but covered) seating and plenty of good music playing, plus cornhole games if you're feeling competitive. Jays will be our go-to for BBQ the next time we're in Abilene! This place has charm and lots of stuff to look at while waiting in the long slow line. You can go up and order beer to drink in line but my thought is that the beer is over price. Some places have free beer or free water while you wait outside in the Texas heat, not here. So the food we got made it all the way back to eat in Houston on Sunday when we got back. The true test of good BBQ is how it taste when you reheat it, all the food was good but the brisket was a bit dry 8/10, the sausage was nice 9/10 and the pork rib was good 9/10. If you're looking for a barbecue also I would recommend just going to Abilene because even for a small meat plate they're going to charge you more than you would at a place like Sharon's, Joe Allen's or Betty Rosas. But if you're looking for a nice easy convenient way to swing in grab your nightly booze it's definitely your best choice.

A quick Yelp review led us to Sharon's and man am I glad we ate here! The food is self-serve cafeteria style, except for ordering the meat (you ask someone behind the counter for what you want). Keep an eye out for the cornbread warmers next to the soda dispenser as you enter the main dining area! Sharon's is Texas BBQ at its best. The ribs I got were second-to-none, and all the sides were picnic perfection! I still have dreams about this food, and can't wait to stop here again for lunch.
