The owner or management is free and encouraged to contact me regarding this review: I am in LA frequently, and the stores in LA give you twice as much ice cream as you get here in Jax, the containers are larger, and the scoops are larger, they have gelato scoops here, not necessarily ice cream scoops, but European size and the cup that I ordered wasn't even packed with ice cream. It was just three tiny scoops... I'm not exaggerating... and LA has a much much more expensive cost of lyric than Jacksonville... I don't get it! Also, there was a handwritten sign up that said cash. I was the only person in the store at the time then that sign was removed after more people came in behind me ?? Also, I just wanted a large ( three scoops water ice cream.) And the first time when I had to pay cash, I was charged $11... Three scoops is supposed to be I believe $6.75 or something like that... The second time I went up, for a large to go, I ordered the same thing and asked for a large, the woman seemed confused so I asked for a grande, still confused, but Someone who spoke Spanish helped me, then she still tried to charge me again $11... I don't know where the disconnect is here? Anyway, I love this place, I'm guessing it's the same as the company that runs the stores in LA maybe a franchise or something I don't know... I really love this ice cream, but I'm not too sure about coming back because the tiny portions and I just got charged way way too much. Please? read more

Cute little ice cream and popsicle shop! Love the Mexican inspired flavor combinations and the variety of regional fruit. Guayanaba is a flavor i love but can only find some products in Asian grocery stores---was cool to have it as a popsicle, and delicious. They also serve food, but I didn't try anything from the menu. Delicious cool and refreshing. La Michoacánas definitely a go to spot where they sell delicious mangonadas home made tropical ice cream as well as homemade creamsicles and ice pops. Inside is super cute with light colored balloon archs, and a seating area cute couch where you can even do pics. the tables had cute flower arrangements that were so colorful it definitely made everything brighter. The ice cream looked so delish! i had the homemade mexican ice cream flavor, pistachio and strawberry. My cousin had just the plain strawberry. everything was cream and on point. next time we will try the mangonadas and the chilli chips. Maybe even the creama corn queso. Exotic and delicious fruitful tropical flavors. The service was good. the server was patient with me because I was so indecisive at first. She offered me and my cousin many samples. Finally found a decent mangonada in JAX! They pack in the mango ice cream and layer the chamoy throughout the cup and they serve theirs with a popsicle of your choice and some tamarind candy rather than the usual fresh mango on top which I was content with. Their mango ice cream was nice and thick and very delicious. You can see the bits from the pulp of the mango that they put in it which is a plus. I also tried their strawberry popsicle which was great as well. I cannot wait to come back to try their other flavors. The shop itself is very cute and bright and there were some families enjoying their treats inside. Definitely worth a stop-in for something to cool you down on a hot day! read more

La Michoacana Jax opened for business just a few weeks ago, specializing in Mexican Cold and Ice Cream treats as well as popular Mexican Snacks. While there are many Mexican restaurants in Jacksonville, this is one of the very first that I know of Mexican Ice Cream shops in town. It's definitely a unique shop, so many flavors, all authentic. We tried and ordered a couple of their Mangonada, since it's popular frozen beverage in Mexico. It starts of with a choice of one of the base ice cream below. - Guanbana (Sour Sop Fruit) - Guayaba (Guava) - Pina (Pineapple) - Fresca (Strawberry) - Mango - Limon - Melon It is then garnish with a frozen Popsicle, a Tamarind Straw, along with different condiments and seasonings. What you get is a myriad of different flavors hitting your palate all at the same time....from salty to spicy to tangy to sweetness and some tartness. I was craving a Mangonada after having one in San Antonio, TX so I was pleasantly surprised that they offered different kinds of Mangonadas. This Hispanic frozen treat shop offers many unique flavors of Mexican inspired popsicles & ice cream. Lots of them are water based & more like sorbet while some are made with milk. We were excited to try some new flavors. Love the creativity. The chamoy sauce can be super overpowering. Would get that on the side next time or skip it. La Michoacana Jax is a cute little ice cream shop. The place was definitely clean. They redo the balloons display every two weeks according the workers. My girlfriend loves going here for the mangonada. Sadly they ran out of chamoy on the day she wanted me to take her, but we both still got one anyway. I didn't want to get a popsicle with my mangonada so I got an extra scoop of mango. The mango sorbet was so nice because it was made with fresh mangos in the mix. I would definitely go back to try the ice cream and popsicles. They have Mexican snacks there as well. Might try to venture with that side one day. read more

My only major complaint about this place is that the prices on their menu board do not reflect what you get charged. This is a major pet peeve of mine. I think they should fix this or address this issue as soon as possible because nothing stinks more than being charged more than what's posted. This place is the most legit and authentic ice cream shop that is exactly what you would find in Mexico. I don't mean authentic like la nop or other Tex mex places, I mean authentic like what you would find in the deep heart of Mexico. Their ice cream flavors are amazing! Coffee, pistachio, cajeta all were exactly what I liked. Their aguas frescas are light and refreshing! Exactly what you go to a nevería looking for. Again, their offerings posted aren't what's in the case but that's not a big deal, maybe a little sad when you realize your flavor isn't available but they have so many options that you forget about your disappointment quickly. 1 large ice cream in a waffle cone, one paleta and one large agua fresca was about $17. A bit on the steep side but definitely worth trying out. Ice cream is good but I'm giving one star because I get this ice cream for my child and Everytime we come here I see them take off their plastic gloves and then take cash from customers only to use those same dirty hands that just handled cash and pickup gloves and put them back on. This is so disgusting that dirty money touches the employees hands and then they transfer those same germs onto gloves that they will use to handle my child's ice cream cone. You need to pick up each glove to put them on so therefore that is unsanitary. Finally I had to ask the employee to wash her hands before putting on gloves. The place is extremely clean which is a plus but I would like to see that same cleanliness applied to hand hygiene for food preparation. read more
