My husband and I visited on the Fourth of July with our friends, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. The shop was completely empty when we arrived, so there was no reason for us to feel rushed. However, the employee hurried us through placing our orders. One person in our group was in the restroom and hadn't had a chance to decide what they wanted yet, and the employee was very short and impatient with us. When we asked to sample one of the ice cream flavors, she simply responded, "Okay," and came across as unfriendly and annoyed. While we were ordering, another customer came in, and we noticed the employee spoke to them with the same impatient attitude, so it didn't seem like it was just our group. The biggest issue came when the last person in our group ordered a sorbet. It was frozen so solid that it was impossible to scoop or eat. We let the employee know, and she said she would "soften it," which apparently meant microwaving it. She brought it back, but it was still hard as a rock and still wasn't edible. Unfortunately, the customer service overshadowed the visit. A friendly attitude and serving products that are ready to eat go a long way. We hope this location improves both its service and the quality of the experience for future customers. read more

After finishing up dinner in San Marco, we wanted to stop for ice cream somewhere. I had always wanted to try Marble Slab Creamery and it had been years since hubby had it last. We walked in just as a group of 4 were finishing up their order which gave us time to check out the menu. Hubby ordered a cup of sweet cream ice cream with Oreos and cookie dough. I ordered a cup of chocolate ice cream with brownies, cookie dough and chocolate sauce. The ice cream itself was good as were the mix ins. Nothing seemed special about it. Obviously, the concept is similar to Cold Stone which I think is way better. The two girls working were carrying on a conversation the whole time we were in there which I thought was pretty rude. Marble Slab has been my go to for years; but after my second failed ice cream cake, I'm done. There are 5 images here: the first is website only (what I ordered); looks fun, right? Images 2 & 3 are what they actually served/sold to me. I can't even believe they would serve this. I'm still damaged by my previous experience where they served me the same cake not frozen, actually melting, so I requested this be ready the night before party. I'm so glad I gave myself time because I had to run to the store for bags of lollipops, gummy bears and worms. It now looks decent, but not worth the work. read more

Whoever owns this location should put more resources towards adequate staffing levels. It's been twice that I've been here and easily waited over 25 minutes in line to even order due to the fact that the only two crew members are responsible for both walk in customers and grub hub orders. It's not fair to the employees and not fair to the customers to so egregiously neglect adequate staffing to meet demand. At a minimum, there should be three employees to minimize wait and not overwhelm the only two employees on busy days. I probably won't be back because of this. read more

The staff was not friendly and the women helping us was taking a long time to get our order together. I make emphasis on the parking lot because the other ice cream shop on Hendrix does not have one which makes it less appealing. It was novel in the beginning, but after you try it once or twice, you come to realize that ice cream isn't any better than the stuff you buy at the grocery store. It's just twice the price. Their big deal is the mix-ins. Big whoop. If you dished out a good quality ice cream that you buy at a store, put the same "mix-in's" of choice that you can buy in the candy aisle at that same store on top, and then serve it to someone blind-folded, i dare them to notice a difference. One shake and one regular size Sundae with Mix ins was $16, which makes this place on the high side for an ice cream shop. Then it hit me, that there is a ice cream place around the corner. I had passed this place a bunch of times, just never went in. I am so glad I did. Trying to pick the flavors to mix is not as easy as one would think. They really do have some good flavors. I ended up getting Sweet Cream & Peanut Butter ice cream flavors and mixing them with reese's peanut butter . My dear it was so good. My friend ended up getting the their red velvet ice cream. Both were really really good. Next time I want to go back and try their cheesecake and maybe try the bubble gum. I def. want to bring my boys here. They would love it. It's a nice little spot. They can also make shakes and you can get froyo. They have a lot of different candies to mix in. You can also mix flavors together. The only downside is the size of the parking lot. I've been to Marble slab in the past and had a pleasant experience. However, tonight, when I went I received an ice cream cone with barely any ice cream in it for almost $8. The pic shows the little bit of ice cream of which had three toppings... Brownies, marshmallows and nuts. So as you can see I barely got any ice cream. It wasn't until after I complained that the guy even offered to put more ice cream in it but by then it was already mixed and I did not want a blob of plain ice cream plopped on top. I love Marble Slab! There was one in the town I used to live in, but I just now found the one in Jacksonville. I like Marble Slab because it's not as creamy as cold stone. Cold Stone is good, but the ice cream is so rich! Marble Slab is a good blend of flavor and cream. They do not have as many mix-ins as you might want, but the price for mix-ins is much better than other creameries. The location is cool, but parking can be a little confusing. It's part of the San Marco food district, which is a really cool area. However, there is little parking for everything. There is very little seating, so this is more of a grab and go location. Lastly, this place is really popular in the evenings, so be ready to wait a few minutes in line. The ice cream is definitely worth it! read more

On certain days we might run into certain staff members that seem kind of lazy and most of the time seem irritated or just over their jobs ( I don't blame them) but good customer service still needs be presented in an establishment especially for an ice cream parlor. Much thinner than other creamery ice cream I have tried. The staff are young and did a phenomenal job in taking ice cream orders for 6 people. Very attentive and polite. This is such a great spot to meet friends or for after a date. You can walk down to the San Marco center for a quick stroll and to enjoy that old small town feel. I have been by this area a million times but never realized Marble Slab was there. I felt like the menu was a bit confusing. The employees were all young and friendly but it was busy so we didn't get any guidance or assistance. We did our best to navigate what we wanted. We ended up with two cones, one scoop with and add in and a brownie sundae. For about $17 I didn't think it was worth it. The ice cream was okay but nothing spectacular.
