The waffles with toasted pancakes were a treat, and when I asked to add bananas, there wasn't the slightest complaint. I also ordered the Meat Lovers Skillet--oh my goodness! The red potatoes were soft, seasoned perfectly, and plentiful. The chef was generous with the ham, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, jalapeños, and green peppers. The best part? Those extra veggies weren't even part of the original skillet--they were suggested by the waitress, and she absolutely knew what she was talking about. It ended up being the veggie boost I didn't know I needed. What really moved me, though, was watching family and community woven together so seamlessly inside this little spot. So the loss of the star was for the price. $40 for 2 sandwiches and 2 deserts is pricey. And they weren't large sandwiches. That would deter me from patronizing them frequently.
