This week the world is in an uproar, so it was such a gift to sit down and see Saturday morning cartoons on the television instead of CNN. From the start, I was greeted by the smiliest (yes, I know it's not a word) preteen, beaming with pride as she handed me the menu while the other woman working was outside. That moment alone set the tone--the place spoke frankly, and I felt welcome. Now, let's talk about the food. The waffles with toasted pancakes were a treat, and when I asked to add bananas, there wasn't the slightest complaint. I also ordered the Meat Lovers Skillet--oh my goodness! The red potatoes were soft, seasoned perfectly, and plentiful. The chef was generous with the ham, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, jalapeños, and green peppers. The best part? Those extra veggies weren't even part of the original skillet--they were suggested by the waitress, and she absolutely knew what she was talking about. It ended up being the veggie boost I didn't know I needed. What really moved me, though, was watching family and community woven together so seamlessly inside this little spot. It almost brought tears to my eyes. I needed this respite. I needed the children. I needed the Meat Lovers Skillet. I needed those Saturday morning cartoons. For thirty minutes, I sat in pure peace and joy. Every moment mattered. Thank you. P.S. The only reason this review isn't five stars is the clutter--my ADHD knocked it down one. I had the best breakfast at Mora Mia! I called ahead to see if dogs were accepted on the patio, and the answer was yes! They were so accommodating, they even asked if the dogs needed water. The service was amazing. They were very attentive. Although I was outside, I want to mention that inside was charming. To start, they gave complimentary chicken noodle soup; it was flavored pretty well and was great temperature. I ordered the molletes and boy oh boy were they delicious. I regret not ordering two orders, it came with a special Verde salsa . I also ordered a side of strawberry French toast, I highly recommend. For my main dish I ordered the southwestern omelet, I thought it was ok... they forgot the cilantro so I asked for a side , I was expecting a bit more of a kick as well, it should be noted that the potatoes were perfectly crispy but I had to add salt. The horchata shake is worth tasting, it was different but a good thing to try at least once. read more

Cute little place in west Pilsen. I had enjoyed their green smoothies in the past, however, this time something was amiss. The server took it back and added more pineapple for me to make it better as it was not sweet enough for me to start. I had the skillet with steak. It was supposed to come with a sauce but I did not get that. The waitress did offer us a green salsa that was quite tasty. I didn't find much steak in my skillet and it wasn't well-seasoned. My friend enjoyed her chicken wrap, though. I didn't try it. I'll try them again and I expect I'll have a great meal. The servers are so sweet and the restaurant is just adorable. read more

Discovered this quaint and hidden gem around my neighborhood and wished I knew of this place sooner! They have a broad menu selection ranging from sweet to savory, and even have Mexican specialties too. Came here with a party of 4, and we all very much enjoyed our meals. I will have to say their chilaquiles is one of the bests I've had as the tortilla chips were still crispy even after it's been blanketed by the verde salsa. Tucked away in Little Italy/Pilsen you will find Mora Mia. What I love about breakfast here is that it's low-key and away from the weekend warriors of Chicago. Most importantly, their coffee is fantastic along with the food. I had an iced latte and a southwestern omelette. The latte came out in a straw-free optional to-go container. It was easy to drink out of with the reassured feeling that you're saving the wildlife from plastic straws. The southwestern omelette what delicious. I covered it with hot sauce which made it even better. The day was perfect for dining outside. I couldn't have had a more pleasant experience. Service is slow. Portion size doesn't match price. I ordered avocado toast for $7 I was given a basic piece of bread with avocado. Cappuccino served 1/4 cup with minimal foam. Took 45 minutes for my table to be served, we were the first guests to arrive. One of us got sick from the food. read more

A lovely family owned brunch spot in Little Italy! We came in for brunch around 12 on a Sunday morning. The spot has a cute exterior with some outdoor tables. The interior was homey & I loved the tile near the front. We got the Venetian Benedict, Mora Mia Skillet, chai tea latte and passion paradise smoothie. The benedict was really yummy! I wish I had know it would come with a side of potatoes so I could've substituted them for a different side. The mora mia skillet was cooked really well & would've been even better with more seasoning. Both drinks were DELICIOUS!!! Great little cafe, perfect for a lowkey breakfast. I usually go here soon after they open in the morning and there's always plenty of seating. Street parking is also pretty easy to find in the mornings. I've had the chicken and waffles and avocado toast. They were all very good. When you arrive, the place is super cute. With flowers and really cute patio. Inside, there are fresh flowers on the tables and has a really cute cafe feel.
