What a cute and amazing spot! I stopped here for lunch and a little treat (the sticky bun with pecans was unreal) and was not disappointed. Their bread is amazing and the place was clean and open and inviting! Good indoor seating options too.

First timer! Visiting from out of town and found this gem here on Yelp. SO GLAD I DID. Beautiful, clean, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Incredible service from start to finish. Delicious pastries, coffee, sandwiches. Loved the selection of all the grab-and-go goodies. Will definitely be back! :)

Delicious foods - amazing experience and the pasties were divine. I highly recommend to give yourself extra time to park and extra time to stand in line. This places reputation is amazing and you should know that you'll be waiting for a minute to check out.

Food was amazing and clean. The ambiance is similar to European pastries shops with an American twist. Really enjoyed my time looking at all the options available. Food came out fast and staff were friendly!

The breads are first class of course but today I ate their Italian Sandwich. I'm from Chicago and I thought Dijon Mustard didn't belong on this sandwich but wow it was great. The bread was crunchy yet so soft. The meats were high quality and the cheese exquisite. Loved everything . My partner had the bacon egg cheddar croissant and it was nothing less than amazing. Don't skip on this gem!

3.5* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 3* Value: 4* Service: 3* 03/15/2023 This place has been on my Want to Go list for a while and got the chance this week while my brother and sister-in-law were visiting. While it was admittedly a little difficult to find buried in the middle of a strip mall - overall, it is a solid stop with a good selection of what you'd expect to find in a bakery (see pictures). We entered through the back and while the large deck was empty in March, the posted summer pictures look like it would be a great place to have breakfast and a coffee. For my meal, I ordered the Southwest Omelet (see picture) and my wife ordered the Sausage & Mushroom Omelet (see picture). My Sister-in-law ordered the Quinoa Black Bean Salad (see picture) and my brother ordered the Ham and Swiss Sandwich (see picture). We all enjoyed our orders, with the only negative being that the toast included with the omelets was toasted too long and ended up very hard. The bread itself was good though, as my brother commented that he really liked the bread on his Ham and Swiss Sandwich. The interior atmosphere was clean and modern and the presentation of the prepared foods was great. The things that held me back on a 5* were the strip mall exterior, plastic eating utensils and the venting / duct work on the ceiling above the kitchen area. From our table in the dining area, the kitchen ceiling showed an accumulation you might expect in a kitchen area that would look much better with a good cleaning. Lastly on the service, I marked it down a bit due to the time it took for someone to help us at the front counter (several workers there, but seemed pre-occupied with other tasks and didn't initially even acknowledge we were there or ask if we would like help). Similarly, after our order at the counter, the food was dropped off at our table with very little interaction of any kind and no follow up during or after our meal. French toast

First time visitor! Went in on a Saturday morning and the place was packed full of people. Immediately got in line and was blown away by how much they have in stock. Great spot to check out in the summer, especially since they also have a patio in the back. They also have parking in the back too if the lot out front is full. I got their French toast, which was absolutely gigantic for the portion size. Same with their croissant sandwiches. Overall I will have to come back to try more stuff.

Love the atmosphere! Very few vegan options but they do have a vegan scramble which is decent but definitely lacking for the cost

Would not recommend. Day old+ pastries that were incredibly dry. All the food was very bland and overpriced. Service was fine.

This is a beautiful way to experience authentic French baking right here in Des Moines. Nadia's…read moreFrench Bakery has become a beloved neighborhood staple, and one visit makes it clear why. Most of the time I was there, a line stretched all the way to the door -- a steady stream of people happily waiting to purchase their precious goods. And after one bite, it makes perfect sense. The beignets are tender, golden, and decadently filled -- I chose the Nutella and the tiramisu, and each one delivered a luscious center wrapped in a delicate, lightly crisp exterior. They're indulgent yet airy, rich yet balanced. The strawberry cream croissant was beautifully laminated, shattering gently with each bite to reveal silky cream and bright berry flavor between buttery layers. There's a precision and care in every pastry that makes the quality unmistakable. Having traveled extensively and tasted pastries in cities around the world, I can confidently say these stand among the finest. From the highly praised almond croissants to vibrant fruit tarts, elegant cakes, and standout walnut cinnamon rolls, everything reflects true craftsmanship. Ces pâtisseries sont fantastiques. The menu extends beyond sweets with freshly baked breads, savory quiche, satisfying sandwiches, smooth espresso, and thoughtful seasonal offerings. The space is spotless and welcoming, grounded in high-quality ingredients and genuine hospitality. The staff is gracious and attentive, making each visit feel warm and unhurried. Owner Nadia Ahissou began baking during the pandemic and has earned well-deserved local recognition for her success as a Black entrepreneur. She is often present, hands-on and focused, clearly invested in every detail. Her commitment to authentic French technique is evident in every bite. Des Moines is proud to have this charming treasure in its community.
