We were in Hialeah and my husband remembered this restaurant from when he used to work in the area many moons ago. We went in for lunch ordered the seafood rice and grouper. Everything came out super hot which I like and it was yummy. Ramon was our waiter he was super attentive and nice. If you are in the area try them out. BTW they have beer and wines.

Delicious seafood in an intimate neighborhood environment . Fresh seafood , generous portion . Try 1) paella 2) minutas 3) fresh seafood We visit from far , but totally worth the trip. It's not fancy , it's unpretentious but it serves good food . It's also affordable , for today's prices

    Frozen vegetables.

If you want quality ingredients I would not recommend this restaurant. I normally only write good reviews and if food was okay I just don't write a review but this place should be rated accordingly. As you walk in, you see cracker wrappers all over the floor. There is no full bar even though they have a bar layout adjacent to the restaurant. The service was friendly but seemed lost when asked about GF cross contamination and seasonings. For a starter you get crackers in plastic sleeve and a side of Cuban spread. It's a very cheap presentation. I normally take photos when food looks delicious but food was so meteoric looking that I didn't take pics before starting to eat. We ordered veggies as a side for an entree and got literally frozen veggies from a bag that were thrown on the grill but still included the water from the frozen bag. We ordered a Mahi and it was over cooked, dry, and stiff. We also ordered rice and shrimp and the rice was soggy thought the flavor was good but was still missing more seafood taste and garlic. They also deep fry fish. They bread it heavily and then fried it. It looked like KFC in a size of a thick steak. Horrible presentation. The food was so greasy too. Especially their plantains. The only thing that was enjoyable was the calamari. This place also doesn't let you pay until after they pick up the plates. I've never experienced that before. It was the strangest thing. Don't go here for especial occasions like birthdays. Not worth it!!

This is my go to for a cheap quick meal. My Spanish is rusty, let's just say non existent and the wait staff's English is sinking to. But I'm always able to order what I want to eat without a hitch. The have numbers on the menu and I can say those. You get a decent amount of food fir around $6-8 bucks. I haven't ventured to the paella or any of the more expensive dishes but trust me I will. The food is always flavorful, freshly made and hot when you pick it up.

Not the place it used to be... la minutera has declined. I came here for a quick lunch with a coworker and food was very disappointing. Service was okay and prices not exactly cheap. But for the quality of food that we received it was definitely overpriced. I won't be coming back anytime soon.

Tostones "rellenos", 4 shrimps, 3 plantains.

Food itself was all delicious and well cooked, although I can't say it came out piping hot which is something I am particular about. All the drinks we tried were delicious and well presented. She simply approached the table and immediately asked what type of water we wanted, which set an impersonal tone for the evening. The food arrived only room temperature. The grouper dish was overwhelmed by tomatoes and Parmesan cheese, making up what felt like half the plate. It was soggy, underseasoned, and lacked any standout flavors. The steak and risotto dish was similarly disappointing. The rice was slightly undercooked, and while the steak itself was cooked properly, it was bland and lackluster. Nothing we ordered felt exceptional or justified the cost. The biggest issue came when we discovered a long piece of hair in our side of fried plantains. To the restaurant's credit, they apologized and provided a complimentary dessert, which was appreciated and is the reason this review receives one star instead of none. Overall, the service was uninspired, the food was underwhelming, and the quality did not match the prices. We won't be returning.

I've had better, its not homemade or string. Taste like a pre-made but works! See my photos: shrimp ceviche was best, then stew and paella! $90 for 2, plus 20 tip. Do $110 evening. Would have been lower with the right beer price but we live and learn! If we go down to Miami off 826, could be a stop to return too! Good quick service. Clean restaurant. No big fish smell considering you are in a fish house! Enjoy! Watch the prices and specials, could be some scam-ery on the prices!! Im not cheap but wanted fairness even in prices! And no bee/ wine menu. Next time we will ask for prices so we dont get played on a draft!

Now there is a huge downside that you immediately encounter when you arrive. The parking lot is exceptionally small and people are parked every which way, except in the spaces. Getting to the actual building will take some time. The neighboring lots have pretty clear signs that they will tell you if you park there. So you're stuck dealing with what it is. The fish variety is good, although not great. If you're looking for strictly local fish, you'll probably find what you want. Several varieties of snapper and the fish looked wonderful and fresh. Some of my favorites like hogfish and grouper. You can buy the whole fish and they'll fillet it for you or you can buy fillets if they have them of the fish that you want. But the part I missed is having them cook it for me. Now that is something I would like to try next time The downside is they strictly local fish. You won't find any flatfish and I was surprised that they did not have any U4 or U6 shrimp which I like to use to make paella. In addition, I did not see fresh scallops. They did have some nice lobster tails although I did not see other shellfish. Some people have said the prices are reasonable; I found them about 20 to 30% higher than other fish markets I visit. The people here are really nice in the market is attractive. I will be back as I said to get a meal cooked for me in part because it is closer than the fish markets I usually visit and also my curiosity after reading other reviews. I recommend this market if you have the patience to wait for a parking space. If you're looking for the larger shrimp for paella look elsewhere

Choosing which lobster or yellowtail from the ice counter you want them to prepare, and how you want it prepared, is a fun part of the dining experience for us. Occasionally they have hog snapper or another fresh catch available. The fried lobster tail was fantastically seasoned with a little kick, and I've never had it prepared this way, chopped up into bite-sized pieces. Very filling and we could have shared one, but we still managed to devour both tails and left very full and satisfied. Each tail, including one side, was about $40 - but market price items vary based on size and weight of what's available that day. There are also plenty of less expensive options on the menu. One of my favorites is the yellowtail sandwich. And if you get there before 7:00pm you can order some oysters and lobster croquettes from the happy hour menu. Captain Jim's is a casual and comfortable restaurant with marine decor where the food is the star. Service is always friendly, helpful, and attentive.
