I had the best experience at fresh Florida fisheries. This weekend I was set to make tuna ceviche for a family party and was looking for a place to get fresh tuna at a reasonable price. Enter fresh Florida fisheries I popped in on Saturday morning and was immediately impressed how fresh all of the seafood looked and how organized it was basically you order at the counter. The staff is super knowledgeable and they will prep your fish for you however you like. Then they give you a number for your order when you pay, and then you wait for your number to be called. I knew I was looking for for tuna, and my eyes definitely wandered at the selection of fish! The person who helped me was super friendly, suggested the amount that I should be ordering for the party size and was able to clean the fish for me. I also thought that the price was super reasonable for fresh locally caught tuna it was 2499 a pound I got a little bit under 3 pounds for just around $70 and it was incredible. I will definitely be back to explore more of the seafood options that they have. Fish is something that I love to eat, but don't often buy from a grocery store because I get a little weirded out at the quality. Knowing that this is so close to my house with high-quality fish for a great price will make me a returning customer for sure. Parking is pretty chill and easy in their front lot and I'm sure you can park down the street if it's a really busy day. Will be back. read more

My first visit here and I sort of wish I'd read the other reviews before I came here. If so, I would have come at a time where I was hungry and for a mere five dollars had them prepare my meal for me. But that being said, I found it to be a very nice fish market. Now there is a huge downside that you immediately encounter when you arrive. The parking lot is exceptionally small and people are parked every which way, except in the spaces. Getting to the actual building will take some time. The neighboring lots have pretty clear signs that they will tell you if you park there. So you're stuck dealing with what it is. The fish variety is good, although not great. If you're looking for strictly local fish, you'll probably find what you want. Several varieties of snapper and the fish looked wonderful and fresh. Some of my favorites like hogfish and grouper. You can buy the whole fish and they'll fillet it for you or you can buy fillets if they have them of the fish that you want. But the part I missed is having them cook it for me. Now that is something I would like to try next time The downside is they strictly local fish. You won't find any flatfish and I was surprised that they did not have any U4 or U6 shrimp which I like to use to make paella. In addition, I did not see fresh scallops. They did have some nice lobster tails although I did not see other shellfish. Some people have said the prices are reasonable; I found them about 20 to 30% higher than other fish markets I visit. The people here are really nice in the market is attractive. I will be back as I said to get a meal cooked for me in part because it is closer than the fish markets I usually visit and also my curiosity after reading other reviews. What an experience! First, it's a fish market. You pick out what you want to eat (and they're very helpful if you're not sure what you're looking for.) Then you tell them how you'd like it cooked. This place is pretty epic but only if you're lucky enough to find parking. When you unlock that know you are walking into a fresh (aka smells like the ocean place), up front: a fish market, filled with plenty of by the pound options to purchase raw, frying batter seasoning and then some. But the real deal is where you buy what you want and decide how they will cook it for you. Theres a limited number of tables outside for eating, but BYOB and bring your friends so they can lay claim to one of them. We ordered three pounds of shrimp fried and let me tell you the breading HITS. Most are fried with the skin on and honestly the seasoning makes you want to eat it that way too. A side salad, side of tostones, french fries, and an order of conch fritters to add. The side salad wasnt totally fresh (could pass...BYOSalad too), the fries were what you expect, tostones were over pressed but i like them in any format and were a perfect side to the camarones fritos. The conch fritters were extra crisp...pretty good flavor but felt a bit overcooked. Go, get things fried, squeeze the lime and pack it away. If you like fresh seafood this is the place. You buy fresh catch from the market (yes it smells like a fish market) and then have them prepare it for you. There is a $5/lb cooking fee which I wasn't expecting but it is well worth it. Closest to the experience I had in Bangkok at the seafood market, but the preparations here are less limited (fried, steamed, blackened, pan sautéed with garlic butter). Recommend the stone crabs with mustard sauce, heading garlic shrimp with garlic butter and fried whole fish (they ran out of Hogfish so I had red snapper which is excellent when dipped in the garlic butter). They have the freshest seafood possible on display. Pick a fish or any other seafood, and they'll grill it up or fry it up for you to eat outside on their picnic tables, or you can get it to go. The sides are the typical South Florida side with heavy Cuban influence--white or yellow rice, beans, fried green plantains, and sometimes other offerings. If you have a larger group, you can have them fry up a 10 lb "pargo criollo", which is essentially a giant snapper. The meat is out of this world! If you're lucky enough to go on a day when they have "serrucho", I would recommend that you get that for sure. It's the juiciest swordfish I've ever had. I believe the English name for it is "sawfish." They get to be well over 10 lbs, so, again, they can deep fry the entire fish and you can enjoy it family style on one of the outdoor picnic tables. You can also get other terrific seafood, like spiny back lobster (no claws) and have them cut it up with their bench saw and sautéed it in butter and garlic. What a treat! Of course, you're in Miami, so if it happens to be stone crab season, this is a great place to get your fill. The local shrimp is also delicious. This fish market/seafood eatery is a hidden gem. Our go-to pick up order it usually the stone crabs -- you can get it extremely fresh for the best price in the city! We use to Love this place until I had a very unpleasant experience here a few years ago. They really tried to make things right but I was done with the place. My husband convinced me to give it a try again and Alberto "el calvito" (the bald guy) made every effort to convince us to come back as regulars. He is the cook and we have had his garlic lobster, fish, and black beans and white rice the last two Fridays, and they were fantastic. Last week we had the Snapper, this week we had the Corvina. Things also seem to be better in terms of their operations. So I'm happy to support this business. Stone crab season in Florida is ON!!!!! According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stone crab season starts on October 15 and ends on May 2 of the following year. Meaning from now on we still have some months to have these sustainable stone crabs from Fresh Florida Fisheries!! Best part to compliment stone crabs, mustard sauce! This place makes a great mustard sauce.... they have the perfect combination of ingredients! Those stone crabs would not be the same without mustard sauce. Everything was delicious! You can select the fish you want from the counter, request how you want it prepared and order the sides. You will be charged for the fish, plus $5 a pound for preparing and cooking it if you will be dining at the premises. Service was good and the place was very clean. So glad we were in the area and made the decision to stop by. We were craving fried whole fish so decided to see if there were any good spots in the local area. Man are we glad we found this on yelp. Their regular menu is pretty limited but they can basically make a dish out of any of their seafood. And it's not a basic fish fry.... We got fried hog fish that was amazing. Beautifullly fried to perfection. Not too dry and just the right amount of seasoning to not overpower the fish. We also got a blacked yellowtail that was just awesome. Most blackened fish imo is too blackened and ends up drying out the fish and makes it wayyy too salty. But here...it was just lightly blackened. Fish was still so moist and tender. Also got the conch fritters and tostones which were great. Lastly, got some stone crab claws that were insanely sweet and plump. Man I'll miss this place but glad we got to try it. Finally had a chance to swing by! My friends have been talking about this place for a while, and the snappers looked bigger than any snapper I would ever see in Publix !! They didn't have that many salmon options, but I will definitely come back and try buying a couple pounds of snapper. Let me warn you. Honestly, from the smell I was about to turn around, but I decided to look at the fish and most of it looked really fresh. The eyes looked great. I really came in for the mahi fish sandwich. For $21 it was pretty big but a little soggy because they also added Mahi dip to it. The sandwich had quite a few small pieces of mahi not one big fillet. One of the pieces smelled and tasted old. The others tasted fine. I asked for extra aïoli on the side and I'm so glad I did. The fries were tasty, but a little soggy probably from sitting in the container on my quick, drive home. I was Very satisfied with my fried yellow tail as it was served right out of the fryer and tasted extremely fresh.
