I have been taking my pugs here for over 10 years. They take good care of my pugs, and they always smell fabulous afterward. They are patient with their nail trims, anal glands, teeth, and ear cleaning. Pricing is great, too. My pugs enjoy coming here, as they are all very prissy and love to be pampered. Parking is easy as it's in a huge center. Making an appointment is a breeze as well. We have many other groomers closer to our home, but we love this one. read more

I took my 4 year old Maltese shitshih tzu there for the second time. Loved it the first time but this second time they didn't even finish her. She's 8 lbs. brush her every few days. Took her back because her nails weren't clipped and the bottom of her feet were not cut. The manager gentleman was very friendly but the groomer was extremely upset. I've been taking my girl for 2 years. We've always paid $30 for the basics. We took her a month ago and they suddenly up'd the price to $35 without warning. Ok... we took her today and they tell us after they are done it will cost $40. No explanation. No warning. They always she was a good girl, so why the price hike? Started going here years ago, when the original owner started the shop. She did a great job. New owner and workers not so much. Been trying to keep going but after today, never again! Man cut my poor dogs nails so short several were still bleeding when we got home. Blood in the car, on her and my clothes. Took here back to make them put clotting stuff on her nails. Then also told him...he missed a nail. He proceeded to cut that nail and tried to go in for a second shorter cut! I had to stop him. Clearly not trained!! read more

Our puppy loves the groomers here. They are always so kind and patient with our baby. We also use to bring our other dog here many times before and he also has never been scared or cried to get groomed. We've tried other places in the past but never got the same treatment as we did here. Our poor puppy was terrified at this one groomers at a pet store chain I won't mention. But let's just say I would never recommend anyone take their pets there if you care about them. Our poor baby came back so scared and traumatized. But as for this place I'd highly recommend it to every and anyone with a pet they love and adore. Our baby loves coming here he actually gets excited to see the groomers and is always in great spirits when we pick him up too. I will continue to come here for my pets grooming needs. This was my first time taking Yumi, an yorkie mix, here. She hates going to any groomer so I was worried she'll have a hard time here. When my boyfriend and I got there, she became very nervous and started shaking and barking. The lady the greeted us and asked what we wanted to get done. She was very thorough in explaining the services offered. The front lobby looked bright and clean. I didn't get the name of the staff, but they seem friendly and professional. After we walked Yumi into the holding crate, waited for her to stop barking then we left. A few hours later, we picked her up and I was happy with the haircut she got. Review from 8/23/14 My girlfriend has always taken our Whoodle to get groomed. She is now on an extended vacation so I have the dog and he needed a good grooming. So I took him to the same place that my GF always took him. We moved a while back so I thought id check some of the local groomers and found plenty and all were cheaper then La Mirada Grooming and most had much nicer shops. The problem is that most wanted shot records for a first time grooming which I totally understand. Of course I have no idea where his shot records are so I decided to take him back to La Mirada Grooming where he has gone before. I dropped him off at 9:30am on Fri morning and said id be back later to pick him up. I had to drive to San Diego to quickly drop off some papers so I figured that I would be back well before closing time to pick up my dog which I assumed would be usual business hours which are some time between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. I even took someone with me so I could use the HOV lanes. At around 10:15am while still on the way to San Diego the Groomers called and said "Buddy" was ready to be picked up. Really? Ive had hair cuts that took longer than that but I guess if hes done, hes done. I explained.that I didn't know he would be done so quick and that I wouldn't be able to puck him up for a couple of hours at the soonest. The kid on the phone told me that they close at 1:30pm. It was now 10:30am so I told him that I would hurry. I got to the office in San Diego right at 12noon. Of course the guy I had to see was now out on his 1 hour lunch. Since I was going to need gas for the drive home and iI didn't want to waste any time, spent the lunch hour driving around downtown San Diego looking for a gas station. I found one and was back to the office by 12:45pm. My contact rolled in around 1:05pm from his 6 martini lunch and my meeting took about 15 mins. I left San Diego and drove as fast as I legally could and as fast as traffic would allow. Around 2:15pm the Groomers called to see when I would be there. I told them I was still at least an hour away. She then told me that I would have to pay another $15 for each hour they had to wait for me. I said Ok and that im going as fast as I can. At around 2:30pm the Groomers called again and said that the guy waiting had an appt and had to leave so they would have to close the shop and keep Buddy over night and it would now cost me $100 to pick him up in the morning. Needless to say I was pissed. I argued about them not communicating to me about their business hours either on any signage or verbally. Too bad. They now had my dog captive in their dark, sterile looking shop and they were holding it hostage for $100. Thats $50 for the grooming and $50 for the overnight accommodations. They told me that they would be at the shop at 7:30am the next day for me to pick up the dog. I got to the shop at 7:15am and the owner came to the door. I asked her how much to pick up my dog. She now said it would be $80.00. I was angry and gave her $60, took my dog and left. None of the other groomers I talked to charged anywhere near $50 for a mid size dog so I left what I thought was fair. Look at the pictures i posted you will see that there are no hours posted on the front of the store. Its too bad because they don't do a bad job although they are more expensive then most but the shame is that they lost a customer over their screwy business practices. read more

We've been taking our two dogs here since they were babies. We have a 7.5 year old Pekingese and 4 year old Japanese Chin. My Pekingese prefers Kim, the owner, but I know the male groomer does well with him too. The price is $35 each dog for cut/bath and it has not changed since 2006, it is not true that you get charged more from the other review. We do keep our dogs well bathed and groomed in a timely manner, no mats whatsoever. The place gets really busy, but Kim always makes room for us. We appreciate their thorough job, and our dogs are well treated. They always leave happy, handsome/beautiful every time. The facility layout is open, you get to see all the groomers work on your babies, the bath/dry area is in the back. Our babies always gets a cute tie/bow/scarf upon leaving, they accept either cash/check. No credit. We don't see ourselves going anywhere else. There's plenty parking, it is in Home Depot shopping area. We definitely recommend!!! They do not hurt the dogs when cutting nails, unlike other places. I've tried one before near home, and my baby was bleeding all over my clothes, that place was in Fountain Valley, CA. (a review for another day) read more

I hate to give this place a bad review, but it has GONE DOWNHILL under this newish ownership (2 years or so now). I loved the previous owner, but under this new owner, my poor pup comes back traumatized after a haircut. He was in so much pain that he stopped eating for a day! I was so worried and took to the vet. After describing the previous day, we determined that he was in PAIN after the trim! He was better after a day of Rx pain meds, thankfully. That was his last cut there, but after several home baths, it was time to get his nails cut again and I gave the place another chance. This time he came back with a severe itch or irritation after the bath and he kept running around in circles! After giving him half a dose of Benedryl 2x a day, I give him another bath the next day and about 3 more days of Benedryl for the itch to go away and he was comfortable again. The shampoo also stunk and his black & white fur was black & dingy white-ish after a bath. NEVER.GOING.THERE.AGAIN!! read more

This place is a joke!!! The woman can.hardly speak English so.she doesn't understand what u want, plus she is not professional. I took 4 of my rescue dogs here - two poodles, a Schnauzer and the other a Minnie Sheltie. All of.them were just shaved unevenly and that's it. They didn't even trim any of their nails and they all needed it. We were very clear what we wanted for the Sheltie's cut, telling them to only thin out my Sheltie's fur and brush it out, and they just shaved him and it was choppy and uneven, and his beautiful mane was completely shaved. Gone!! And we can tell they didn't brush him out. After they were done with him you couldn't even tell what kind of dog he is!!!! My dogs weren't matted or really dirty, but they charged more than they usually did just for basic shave with NO nail trim. They all looked horrible!!!! We were so disappointed. It took me over an hour to even out their hair myself, but I can't cut their nails myself so I guess we're just out. I don't think they cleaned their ears either. On their business they have a sign claiming they only charge between 30-40 but that's not true at all, she actually charges 50 to 60 just to shave off all their hair she didn't even give my dogs any style or clip.their nails, hardly even brushed.them either. I have been using this groomer pretty consistently for about the last two years. About 10 months ago I rescued a high maintenance dog that needs grooming often. I had always taken him here and they did a great job. That said, last time I got him groomed I decided to try a new one that opened up in my neighborhood, near this shop. He seemed fine, but when I tried to bathe him a week later, he freaked out as soon as I turned the water on and freaked out again when I approached him with a brush. So when it was time for him to be groomed again, I went back to this shop. The owner is always very nice, everybody in there attends to you promptly. I let her know of the difficulties I was having and suggested she muzzle my dog and just be aware that he has started biting when you try to wash him. They called me 2 1/2 hours later and he was ready for pick up. She said he was no problem at all. They are awesome with both of my dogs. My elderly dog was always cared for and they'd hold her to trim her nails so they didn't have to lift up her legs to access her nails. I have seen the owner working on show type cuts on Bijons, and simple smoothing for large labs. The shop is always clean and there are no funky odors. read more

They are always really sweet and friendly toward my dog. Price is reasonable. Sad to say I moved to another city so I won't be coming here anymore. This is the third time I've taken my baby to La Mirada Grooming. When I got her back this time she was wearing big scarf. My friend came over a few hours after our return. She looked at the scarf and asked why she didn't have bows. I laughed and said maybe they're trying to hide something. My friend took off the scarf and I was mortified. My poor baby was all cut up. They put what smelled like Neosporin on it and then covered it with a scarf. I just can't believe anybody would do anything like that and not say a word... please be careful.
