[This is a review of Pampered Paws boarding services] I've been meaning to write this review for a LONG time. But honestly I'm a tiny bit hesitant because by telling you all just how great this place is, I'll be creating increased competition for their services (LOL). In short if you want the absolute best care for your dog while you are away, this is the place to bring them. The owner, Tracy, who is there like 24/7/365 knows every dog by name and personality. The dogs - assuming they are socially compatible - spend the day in a large open play area. From what we've observed there is almost always two attendants in the play area with them at all times. If a dog ever has or develops behavioral problems or aggression, they are removed to another enclosure immediately for the protection of all the other dogs. Poop and pee are IMMEDIATELY cleaned up. The place is kept VERY clean and tidy. A big job when you've got like 20 dogs playing in there at the same time! The overnight accommodations are spacious and each has a large comfy dog bed in it. Take a tour. Tracy will be more than happy to show you around. There is someone present at all times, 24/7. Before we ever boarded our dog here I drove by at 03:00 AM and sat there until I made sure I could see someone present moving around in the back room. To give you an example of the care Tracy gives to his wards, when we first started coming here our rescue pup (who was like 1-1/2 to 2 years old at the time) was completely terrified of both other dogs and people. We got her as a pup during COVID and there was no way to socialize her. We tried puppy play dates at our trainers facility after things opened, but she'd just cower in a corner. Tracy suggested we bring her in for just an hour or two at a time starting well before our planned trip. No charge. He was just trying to get her acclimated. It worked! She opened up and his care literally transformed her into the Belle of the Ball. Now we just say, "Do you want to go play with some puppies?" and she goes nuts with excitement. Boarding at Pampered Paws is not cheap. We joke that we spend more on our dogs than ourselves when we go on vacation. But it is well worth it to us. I wish I was "made of money" so I could afford to give Tracy the substantial tip he deserves after every stay. HIGHLY recommended. read more

I started coming here with my older dachshund who was kicked out of the PetsMart grooming services he didn't bite but he HATED his nails clipped and would throw his body everywhere and was impossible. I took him here and they were so kind and loving with him, they knew just what to do to help him and were always able to cut his nails! After he passed away, we got a new dachshund puppy and enrolled in the AKC STAR puppy course. Our first week he barked the whole time, I was so overwhelmed I thought there way no way I would be able to train him! But with Liz's help, he became a completely different dog in 6 weeks! He actually passed the STAR puppy exam and is much better behaved at home and on walks. Highly recommend this place for grooming, daycare, and training! We discovered pampered paws about a year and half ago. It changed our lives! We utilize them for daycare, boarding, and now training. We LOVE sending our baby to daycare and boarding. We recently completed the Canine Good Citizen training course and were very impressed. It's an hour of week of on-site training with trainer, Liz. We booked a last minute vacation, and I was scrambling to find a reputable boarding facility for my beloved dog. I asked my Neighbor App for any boarding recommendations, and Pampered Paws was the most highly recommended. I called and spoke w the owner Tracey. He was super nice, and the days we requested were available for boarding. I went to tour the facility beforehand, and it was exceptionally clean. What I loved about the facility was that I can view my dog live on camera from 7am to 7pm daily. Being able to see my dog live on camera gave me a peace of mind that my dog was being well cared for. The small dogs are separated from the bigger dogs, and there is someone in the pen watching the dogs the whole time. The workers who were watching the dogs were amazing. They were holding my dog and loving on her just like I would have at home. That made me so happy. I was able to relax on my vacation with zero worries. You're paying a little more for boarding here, but you get what you pay for. The place is clean, no stench whatsoever, workers are amazing, and they truly care and love the dogs. I came across this place while looking for dog training classes for my pup and I am sure glad I did! After visiting for the dog training inquiry, I have had my pup groomed (puppy grooming, not a full grooming service), attend day care, and currently attend AKC STAR puppy classes here. Every time I bring my pup here, everyone greets us with open arms and they are very good with him. For a pup who doesn't like to be separated from me, he sure enjoys going here and is not scared when I drop him off. When we took our pup for his first puppy bath, he got a bath, nail and sanitary trim as he was too young for a full grooming. They finished with his bath quicker than I expected and I was happy to see that he was not traumatized after his first grooming! (Which shows they were gentle and very good with the lil boy) During daycare, the workers are very attentive to the pups and you can watch them throughout the day on their live camera feeds on their website. You'll see that they are always in there playing with the pups and making sure no one is getting into trouble. During the puppy classes, Josh (the trainer) is very attentive and answers any questions any of us parents have. He also gives tips and advice on how to best train our pups and makes sure everyone is reassured about their pups the whole time. It's hard to find a groomer that does bigger dogs in the area and it's even harder to find a groomer that knows how to handle double coated dogs. What I appreciated about this place is they asked for proof of vaccination and checked for it. They also had my mom (she dropped my dog off) fill out a questionnaire before taking my dog. I've tried about 4 other groomers and none of them have done this. They always ask for proof of vaccination, but never check. The last groomer I was going to suggested a summer cut for my dog which was a pretty close shave which isn't recommended for double coated dogs. When my mom dropped my dog off here, she mentioned that and they said not to worry. They did a thorough job with him and he came back fluffy, but definitely cleaned up. Price was reasonable ($65 for the whole thing and my dog is roughly 40 pounds). My dog is pretty docile and gets along with everyone due to his age, but both my mom and I were impressed how staff handled him. When my mom dropped him off, one of the women came to our car to get him and she simply scooped him up while he didn't squirm (which he does with me!). My dog has a limp and needs assistance getting on and off the car so it was nice staff easily helped. And when I came to pick my dog up, he was too scared to leave the cage (intimidated of walking past the bigger dogs), but one of the women was able to coax him out and he jogged over to me once he saw me. I'm pretty happy with this place, but I wish all the staff wore masks. Orange County doesn't have a mandate so it's up the business. If you're very COVID conscious, I'm sure they wouldn't object to accommodating a pick up and drop off situation to your car outside (just pay in cash). They are also very busy to book in advance, but I will say my dog's first trip made the wait worth it. read more

TLDR: unhappy with goldendoodle cut but otherwise go at your own discretion Pros: *called the day before appointment as a reminder *staff was nice overall *80$ bath + cut for a 30lb goldendoodle (I am used to the ~100$ range in the area Cons: I asked for a doodle cut (probably my fault for not specifying how I wanted his face, body, ears, tail, etc). I've attached a picture but the cut around his eyes are kinda of messed up, his tail looks half shaved?/half trimmed, his ears are disproportionate to his face. He's looking a little more poodle-y than goldendoodle which is super disappointing. I wish they had a location in Irvine. Nevertheless, for now, I'm willing to drive the 22 miles there to get my dogs groomed because the girls who work here are simply amazing! Not only do the dogs feel loved and cared for, the service is fantastic and they are hands down the best groomers we've ever been to - and we've been to pretty much every single groomer in Irvine. Three different times we've been to an Irvine groomer that shaved my dogs' boy parts so closely, it was irritated, red, and they were sick and in pain for a week or so. I probably spent more in worry and money trying to soothe and care of my poor babies than for the groom; worst of all, the stress and worry of a whole week of my dog's painful misery. We have one little nervous nelly dog we hadn't taken to a groomer because he's difficult and has high anxiety. We were so afraid that he would be traumatized that we did what we could at home while all the other dogs got groomed (got 4 dogs). Needless to say, a bunch of places in Irvine were not only disappointing but the dogs came back afraid and with horrible cuts (they always just want to SHAVE down every doodle in Irvine, absolutely lazy and horrible). My sister has three golden doodles she takes to Pampered Paws so we gave it a shot. Not only were the dogs happy when I picked them up, they looked like doodles and not shaved overgrown chihuahuas. It's a long drive for us, but when we walk in the door it's all worth it as the girls greet (not me) THE DOGS first! Hahaha, they know who the customer is!! I love them so much, and they do a magnificent job always keeping in mind that the dogs come first - it's why the place is called "Pampered Paws!" They truly are pampered here. In terms of the negative reviews, if you read them, people are just complaining that they can't get an appointment... which seems silly to leave a bad review for. Think about it, if that's the only bad reviews, it's probably because this place is amazeballs, and it is!! I simply love love love this place and everyone in it. This is the best place your dogs could be, and while I haven't tried the boarding, I can't imagine it being any less impressive than their grooming services. If you get an appointment three months out, wait it out and try them. They are worth every penny and every day of wait and your dog will love you for it. read more

Pampered Paws is the best! I have been taking my now 8 year old poodle/bichon mix Penny here for several years. I recently moved 45 mins away but I have no problem making the drive back to La Habra every 4 weeks to take her. They take such great care of her and always greet her by name when we walk in the door. Although we are regular clients here they always ask in advance how I want Penny to be cut and I really appreciate that! They used to tie the cutest ribbons to their her collar but they haven't been doing that for the past few months which is a bummer. Otherwise she always comes back so clean and happy and never has any nicks or cuts on her body. I will say they are super busy so definitely book out in advance if you can. I found Pampered Paws online and after reading great reviews, I decided to take my puppy to their daycare for a couple of hours for socialization. I loved that there are cameras with a live feed online, which made me feel better about taking my puppy over. However, there was one employee who ruined my experience. There was a female dog in the front play area, which I don't know if she was in heat or not, but a few dogs (including mine) were going to her and trying to hump her. They moved her to another yard for a bit but brought her back. I understand and I am completely okay with correcting or redirecting any unwanted behavior (especially with a curious and active dog); that's something we do at home too, but there's also a way to do it appropriately. The times I was able to check the cameras, I was so sad and mad. To see that employee YANK my puppy so hard from his collar for sniffing around the female dog was extremely hard to see. Later in the day she had my puppy pinned down to the ground, and as he tried to get up, she pushed him back down to the floor twice. The woman who answered seemed bothered when she answered and when I asked about getting my dog groomed she asked if he was a new or existing client. I told her he'd be new, and she said they are booked 4-6 weeks out for new clients. That doesn't make sense to me, but okay.
