I came in and wanted 4 nails redone and the others filled along with a color change. Mimi charged me for a full set with nail design. Although one hand looked great (the one with all fills), the other not so good. Two of the nails didn't match length with the other hand, one of them was unevenly filed so looking at it from the top it was fine but from the front you can see the bump and unevenness of it. She also didn't paint the whole width of the nails. This is not to mention that I had showed her a picture of what I wanted first and she still got the shade incorrect the first time, even when I told her I wanted a Christmas red. She started painting and I had to ask her if it dried more red or not and she said no, and I had to ask for a different color. When I paid my total was $55. I handed her $60 and she just assumed I was tipping her my change without even attempting to give it to me. I would have tipped but she really should never assume my change is her tip. I should have read reviews. The lady was nice, the place was dirty. I asked for a dip. They don't use drying machines, which is why I like getting a dip. I had to sit and wait for my nails to dry. She then, after checking to see if my nails were dry, quickly and haphazardly brushed oil onto my nails. Mimi did a wonderful job, I'm fussy about length and trimming the nails and skin on my toes and she was precise and through. The massage of the legs and feet are a must when going to her. She did a great job on the finishing nail polish. And I was happy I didn't mess it up. Once the polish is on it is up to me to be careful not to smudge it. After trying a bunch of Nail salons, this particular LA Nails really impressed me and won it's spot as THE BEST, in my opinion. Missy is a fantastic nail artist, who knows how to pamper you in style! My pedicure was SO nice, and she took her time giving me the best hot stone massage to ease my sore legs (after a trip to the Dunes!) Her nail art was stellar. It's been seriously 2 weeks later, and the cute rhinestones are STILL intact, along with the beautiful Hawaiian plumeria flowers she so gracefully painted on! When i walked in it was very messy and the lady upfront at the rest seemed rude i told her i wanted the full gel set and showed her a design i wanted she told me it would be 75$ i immediately thought that was to much and just went with a simple color for 50$ it went out great but she started getting mad when i said i wanted it shorter and she would stop every 5 minutes to text someone she was very rough when it came to shaving it with the file she did a good paint job but the nails were crooked wouldn't recommend going unless its your only option read more

I do not write reviews ever. I am making an exception based on my experience today. The woman doing my nails was very kind, which makes it even more challenging to write this review. However, when my services (pedicure and gel manicure) were complete, I stood up to leave and noticed the polish on both of my big toes was smudged. The technician graciously fixed them for me, and I left. Once outdoors, I realized that my manicure had quite a bit of polish pooled in my cuticles. I initially figured I would just accept it and headed home. Approximately 3 hours after my pedicure, I took a shower, and the water removed a significant portion of the polish off of my big toe again. I call the business and explained that I was unhappy with the services. Although they offered to fix it, I stated that I did not want to drive 90 minutes round trip for a repair when the first repair didn't correct the problem. I own that I did not notice the poor fingernail polish job until I left, so I asked if they would be willing to refund even a small amount of the services. They politely reported that they never issue refunds. Photos below show the toenail after the water hit it, and one close up to show the fingernail paint job. If you choose to have nail services done here, I would highly recommend that you bring your own polish and look closely for any problems BEFORE you leave. read more

Have been here twice for a pedicure. The 1st time I was generally pleased although I thought he could have done a better job at smoothing my skin, which was not bad but didn't improve at all with the pedicure. The 2nd time he came over to where I was drying and kept touching the polish to see if I was dry and smudged my nails. He fixed a couple but not correctly with a top coat. I live in Lansing and get a Shellac manicure at my local salon once a week. I travel to TC for work frequently and have been looking for a salon to visit while I'm on the road. I was hesitant when I realized that LA Nails was in kind of a strip mall, nestled near a Younkers. I've had mall manicures, most recently in Marquette, and they are categorically awful. I am so happy to eat my words tonight. First, the pedicure. A man gave me an incredible pedicure tonight, possibly the best one I've ever had that wasn't at a day spa. I came from work and was wearing a dress, and he helpfully draped an extra towel over my legs for modesty. He scrubbed my heels and big toes, beat up from a summer of ten-mile runs, until they shined like the top of the Chrysler building. He exfoliated my legs, then lotioned them, then rubbed them with hot stones (heaven), then lotioned them again with something that made them feel wonderful and tingly and like I could climb a mountain. The polish job it perfect, the length is perfect, I am thrilled. He switched with a young lady who did my removal of old Shellac polish and new Shellac manicure. She properly filed the front of the nail, topped it with an acetone-soaked cotton ball, then wrapped it in tin foil to let the old polish soak off. In Marquette last month the manicurist tried to whizz off the old polish with the drill-looking tool they use for acrylic nails, and I was horrified. This young lady cleanly and effectively removed the old polish then set about buffing, pushing back cuticles, and eventually shaping my nails- I like them short. The Shellac polish selection was much more vast than I was used to and I chose a pale pink, which she painstakingly and perfectly applied. I was the last one in the salon and felt guilty, because they were obviously closing as we were finishing, but she offered an extra coat of polish (I declined) and finished by applying lotion to my hands and rubbing cuticle oil into each finger. My total for pedicure and Shellac manicure was $60 and I tipped an additional $20. I am so happy to have found a reliable, clean, high-performing nail salon north of Clare! (Yes, I realize that I think about my fingernails way too much. It's just kind of my thing!) read more

Made an "appointment " with a preferred tech, arrived on time, waited 15 minutes and was told that my tech was tied up and I would need to see Sally. The photo shows how bad the finish is. The second toe is cut completely crooked. I asked for her manager and the manager blamed it on my toe being "not right". LA vs TC. (nail shops) LA wins by a little... Wedged between a KMart and a Payless, LA Nails is actually just fine. An average nail spot. It won't rock your world, but it won't give you nail fungus (probably) either. And, you can pop over and shop at KMart or Bath and Body when you finish... My mom and I popped in for some primping and both left with the same feeling. Really great on the prep work (cuticles, buffing the heels, exfoliating, hot stone leg massage), but the paint jobs were pretty mediocre. I really expect to walk out of a nail place with perfection, because even those only last a few days! Starting with marred mani? Not so exciting. If I were to return, I'd def go in for a pedicure with a light color. They will literally scrub the shit out of your heels and feet to the point of gray, calloused skin being piled on the floor in front of you. In a good way, they get down to the nitty gritty. Not sure why this is their speciality (my mom's gal did the same thing) but my heels still feel very smooth even a week later. Ma'nails thought? Meh. Color selection is OK. Standard OPI, but nothing that seemed "new season" to me. A line of off-brand super bright colors...but I never trust anything besides OPI and Essie. Staff is really quite nice and pleasant. Although I really enjoy getting my nails done here I am fairly displeased with the organization.... my sister and I each had 10 am appointments for mani pedis... and when we walked in at 9:59am all of the employees were with other people.. at about 10:05 we were seated in our chairs for the pedicures. (Totally fine, a couple minutes late is understandable) But it is now 10:41am and my sister is JUST NOW getting someone to work on her feet... I don't know what the point of making an appointment is if it isn't honored? (We made an appointment because we are on a time crunch and wanted to make things easier) And this isn't the first time. We've been coming here for probably 6 years now (multiple times a year). But this has happened one too many times and I don't plan on coming back. If you're in any type of time constraint of don't recommend this establishment. Stopped by to get a quick shellac manicure and that's exactly what I got! The place was big, clean and inviting. I made an apt the same day and didn't have to wait a single second! My manicure was done quickly and beautifully. I especially enjoyed how well they cleaned up my cuticles from this harsh cold weather! I never speak up if something is a little off but it looked horrible I knew if I didn't speak up I would have to go to another salon for them to fix it right after. I asked her to fix it and showed her the photo again. Again looked nothing like the photo (I wouldn't care if it wasn't identical but it was actually horrible) I asked if she could just put the color on instead and she yelled very loud "IM DONE" I was very taken back, maybe she had a hard day but very unprofessional and I could've brushed it off but she was aggressive with my nails after that and my cuticles are raw and bleeding. Twice I've had the wrong color shellac applied ( didn't match what I chose) and the girl today had an attitude. They did an awesome job! My nails look great and they have lasted for 2+ weeks! We had a small group that got manis & pedis. I got a French manicure (shellac) on my nails and they looked awesome for 2 weeks! They never chipped or anything and I only had to change them because my nails were growing out. The facility was clean, there was lots of (free) parking, in a good location, and staff were accommodating & nice! When I got there, a male technician sat in front of me. I politely said "I asked for a female when I made the appointment". They made a scene out of switching the male tech with an available female tech all the while talking in Vietnamese about it. The place was packed and I felt that the scene making was unnecessary. I told the manager that it was nothing personal about him, I am just uncomfortable with a male rubbing my legs, which is why I asked for a female when I made the appointment. I think they suck. They take forever to get in to have your nails filled and your brows waxed. I think they do a really great job at doing my brows. The only draw back is sometimes she can be a tad rough and sometimes the wax can get into the sides of my hair and onto my nose. When I get my nails filled I feel they do a really rushed job stick me with the same fem guy my nails are never rounded enough they always crack on the sides after a few days and I have to go someplace else to get them fixed. I will no longer be going here for pedicures. I was going here for pedicures for the past months and who on earth uses a drill doing pedicures? I went last time and the one guy used a drill and this last time I went and the lady used a drill on my toe nails. I take good care of my toe nails and I don't see why you would need to use a drill and never in the 15 years that I was getting pedicures that any one ever use a drill. I don't know the reasoning behind the use of a drill and I'm sure they will come up with some lame reason why. It's like their lazy way of buffing my toe nails and pushing back my cuticles. I have been going to this nail salon for 4 years. My last 4 manicures have been very disappointing. I used to see Jolene, who managed the salon. She and others working with her did exceptional work. I've noticed quite a difference in the quality of work since new management has taken over, several months ago. My manicures have been rushed, very sloppy with polish left on my skin and a bumpy nail surface on a couple nails. The last 2 times, the tech did not even groom the cuticles at all. I've also noticed a decline in the cleanliness, with the nail station being quite dirty. I've asked for a design on a couple nails, the last 2 visits and it looked like a 2 year old painted the design on. I won't be going back to LA Nails, as they are no longer providing quality customer service, cleanliness in their facility and results that I can be happy with. read more
