This review is about Dr. Alnajjar. I was a patient of his a year ago when he was at a different location on 1245 Wilshire Blvd. Dr. Alnajjar can be very rude and he has an attitude that does not behoove him. Given that he works with people who have broken bones and may need surgery, he really should be less self centered and more compassionate. He should also be sensitive to the fact that many of us wait patiently in his waiting room for several hours until we finally see him. During my first appointment with Dr. Alnanjjar, I initially thought I was in good hands. My view of him later changed because of his beside manner. The short of my experience is that I had a broken hand and my finger was severed. I was rushed to the emergency room. The attendant in the emergency room sewed my finger back on and put me in a temporary cast. I was then referred to Dr. Alnajjar for follow up. Dr. Alnajjar initially told me that I only had to be in a cast for 3 weeks. Accordingly we scheduled a follow up appointment 3 weeks out to get the cast removed. Two weeks later, i.e., one week before my scheduled visit to remove the cast, his office called and told me that I would have to wait another week for the cast to be removed because the doctor was going on vacation. I asked if I could see another doctor in the office. I was told that Dr. Alnanjjar was the only hand specialist in the office. I asked the staff person to please have the doctor call me. When the doctor called me back, he was very abrupt and kept talking over me. He would not let me get a word in edgewise. He told me that he does not create his patients problems. That he just fixes their problems. He even asked me if I made money this way. He was referring to the fact that I was trying to talk to him. It was clear that he was annoyed that I requested a call from him, and that he did not want to be bothered. He also mentioned the trip he planned to Panama. I simply wanted to ask him if the medical assistant in his office could remove the cast in his absence. When he finally stopped badgering me and listened to my question, and to my description of my healing process, he agreed that the cast could be removed by his medical assistant. He also agreed that I was healing well and that I did not need to wear the cast for an additional week while he was out of town. However, it must be empathized that I had to struggle to get this doctor to let me speak. Had he listened in the first instance, our call would have been much shorter. For those of you who have ever been in a cast, an extra week of wearing a cast feels like a long time. Particularly when it is not medically necessary. I was looking forward to having my cast removed after 3 weeks. I did not think I should have to wear it for another week, and continue to miss out on work, because the good doctor was going on vacation. He should have planned to have another doctor cover for him while he was out of town. The good doctor must have said something negative about me to his staff. After that phone call, his staff was very rude to me. That created more stress when I trying to heal. Also, as stated above, each time I went to his office, I had to wait over two hours to be seen. I am self employed and did not have insurance to cover an unexpected accident that would keep me out of work for 3 weeks. The good doctor could have been more sensitive to that as well. It should also be noted that after my cast was removed, I asked the doctor to take an X-ray to make sure my hand healed properly. He agreed. I believe that is something he should have thought of without suggestion from me. read more

Not only are the receptionist/medical assistance Rude so is the Doctor Who excuses the rude behavior. There is no parking anywhere around that building. You have to continuously make sure that the meter is full, but that does not give anybody the right to be disrespectful or rude or short or dismissive to a patient. Dr. Bry-an Soelberg was very dismissive when I told them that his employees were actually being extremely rude to me, his response was well you shouldn't have been late. I don't think that that's very professional, especially when I had asked these ladies whether it'd be OK for me to go feed the meter and come right back up. It took me two minutes. It's inexcusable Dr. sober kept cutting me off, would not let me explain my situation and was very dismissive about the treatment. I would not recommend anybody come here and I will be looking for another orthopedic specialist. read more

My mother was referred here for tendinitis that has kept her out of work for a month. This is her first time ever having to take time off work due to a serious health condition, and while trying to navigate doctor appointments and protect her job, she had to deal with incompetent and unprofessional staff. Her PCP advised her to bring FMLA paperwork, and the front desk accepted it and said it would be filled out. No one mentioned that this office supposedly doesn't complete FMLA or disability forms. When she called for an update, the staff member made an inappropriate comment implying she "just didn't want to work." When my mother went back to retrieve her paperwork, staff were laughing. This level of miscommunication and disrespect is unacceptable. These forms protect someone's livelihood -- this is not something to joke about. Was dismissive about my career in Labor and my physical goals/needs. Solicited a second opinion, chose the 2nd Surgeon and canceled future appointments with this one. Was referred to this place by my doctor and I must say whoever Carla is, she has a bad attitude and she is rude. I believe she is an appointment scheduler who doesn't know how to show customer service. First of all, they need to convey to other doctors or clinics their guidelines for referrals to their office. Booking an appointment and then canceling it close to the date is not fair to the patient. Now I have to go back to my doctor and start this process all over while in pain and needing assistance. I came in on Tuesday May 30 2023, to get my ankle check out because I had been in a cast for 2 months. The nurses and doctors were super nice. The X-ray tech was super nice too. My fracture is healed and the cast came off. They placed me in boot and I can't wait for physical therapy to start. No parking but there are parking lots for a fee and street parking. read more

BEWARE OF DISHONEST BUSINESS! I need hip replacement surgery but want to have anterior hip relacement not posterior hip replacement. I called Dr, Solberg's office and spoke to the revervationist. I specifically asked her if Dr Solberg does the anterior or posterior method. She put me on hold to ask, then came back and told me that he does anterior hip replacement. I asked her "are you sure"? she said "yes I'm sure". I called back the next day and asked the same question and got the same answer so I contacted my doctor and he ordered a referral. Two weeks later I receieved the referral and I called Dr Solberg's office to make an appointment. I asked again "he does anterior hip replacement correct"? she sais "yes he does". The earliest appointment was a month away so I made the appointment. I live 31 miles from their office in Culver city. I go to my appointment and the receptionist asked me for my insurance card and ID. I asked her again to make sure before they take my information and charge my insurance company and I pay a copay "Dr Solberg does anterior hip replacement right"? Guess what her response was - "no he does not do anterior hip replacement he only does posterior hip replacement". ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! However, the patient experience when it comes to dealing with the front office staff is poor. They scheduled a pre-op appointment and lab appointment for me on the same day. I checked in on time to the pre-op appointment and had to wait 30-45 min to see the physician. I had no issue with this wait time, except the problem was that they scheduled the lab appointment 45 min after the pre-op time. So, of course I was late to the lab appointment. The front office at the clinic told me that the lab should still take me, but that was not true. I tried to go back to the clinic to inform them that the lab in fact could not take me, but the door was locked since they were on lunch. I called the clinic and the lady who answered the phone was rude, unapologetic, offered no solutions, and clearly just wanted to eat her lunch even though it was their fault I was unable to get the lab work done. So now more time had to be spent on my end to schedule and go to another lab appointment. I also asked if I could do the disability paperwork while I waited to see the physician and she never gave it to me until I left. Based on other reviews, it seems to be common for the front office to not respect patients or their time. Patient experience/customer service is too important in healthcare for this type of behavior to continue. I contemplated between 2 & 3 stars because of how frustrating dealing with the front office was. I have seen Reginal Alexander several times at LA orthopedic specialists. He is very knowledgeable, very thorough, and completely focused on my shoulders each time I come in. He's never distracted, short of energy, overworked, or distant. He is completely present as if I'm his only patient. I've been experiencing some pretty significant shoulder pain and he is very sensitive to each working part. He has given me MRIs, and been extremely thorough about suggesting range of movement, rehabilitative therapy, etc.I've been experiencing some pretty significant pain lately and today without wasting any time he asked if I would like to try a Cortizone injection to which I agreed. He is very concerned, scheduled a follow up appointment and wanted me to stay in touch with him. I couldn't ask for anything more from an orthopedic doctor then he has delivered in the multiple times I've been to see him over the last year. Dr. Reginald Alexander is pretty great. I have few, if any, complaints. I am not the kind of person that cares about a doctor's "bedside manner"/customer service because I personally don't think it's necessary trait for one to be a good doctor, but Dr. Alexander was still very good even in this regard. I see complaints about the brief nature of the visits, but what do you really need from a surgeon? It's enough time to explain the procedures and answer most questions. You can look up more detailed questions and even videos of the surgeries being performed online. I had an arthroscopic allograft ACLr and a partial meniscectomy. Was originally going to be meniscus repair, but there was too much chronic damage/scar tissue when he got inside my knee which he told me could happen right before the surgery, so I was not upset. Faster return to weight bearing/walking if anything. I'm at two weeks post-op and currently heading into my first follow up appointment, but overall I'm pretty happy with him as a surgeon. Some of the office staff could be better with communication/knowledge of protocols, but ultimately the things that really matter have worked out well. I will say, there was an issue with my insurance (Medi-Cal) going back and forth with the office about where to perform the surgery (surgery center [not covered] vs. hospital [covered]). It was 5.5 months between my injury and actual surgery and no one informed me of this issue until a month or two prior, but that is hardly the fault of Dr. Alexander himself. He probably didn't even know about it. He's a good surgeon, I feel confident in his work and I would go back again for future knee surgeries (if needed). He did his fellowship specifically in ACL reconstruction for athletes, he knows what he's doing. read more

This is a review of LA Orthaepedic Specialists clinic, not Dr. Brian Solberg. On my first visit what struck me the most was how rude and unhelpful the front desk staff were. I visit a fair amount of doctors and have never seen anything like it. On top of that was the fact that the clinic is in the heart of downtown LA. Bad traffic and limited, expensive parking. I may have spent more on the garage than the doctor..... Overall a negative experience. I won't be back -- there are too many other orthopedists in this city. read more

Brian d solberg. Tells me he can do it and all. And then makes me waste almost half a year to then tell me he cannot do it. And to go find someone else! Honestly worst experience with doctors. This doctors office is terrible. I made an appointment few weeks ago. On appointment date, they made me to wait 2hours without any excuse. The lady on office only said that we will call you soon. They don't consider patient time at all. I don't care about how good these doctors unless they know how to manage patients' appointment and time manner. If I could give 6 STARS for Dr. Matthew Nalamlieng, I would do it in a heartbeat! After an injury sustained to my ankle, I sought Dr. Nalamlieng's opinion. He was very thorough in his assessment and knew exactly how to treat my ankle. I was confident in his abilities and knowledge and so I opted for surgery. He was detailed with his explanation of the repairs that needed to be done and executed them exactly as he indicated. He was more than happy to answer all of my questions with regard to surgery and rehab. I have since recommended him and will continue to do so... Having had many sports injuries in my life, I only wish I had found him sooner. For injuries sustained to the foot and ankle, he's definitely your guy! I've had bad experiences with some of the ortho docs to which I was assigned. Solberg falls under the category of "I'm the doctor" mentality. I have no idea how much he is paid per visit but my visits thus far have been less then five minute conversations. Did not seem interested in my questions as to how to proceed with PT. I called the office today to find out why he says I cannot have TENS or electric stimulation for a hip replacement. The person who answered the phone seemed uneducated about these these terms and was not very helpful. All I am asking is that Solberg send a fax to my new PT place saying yes or no to TENS and, if no, the reason. I hope these doctors read their reviews. read more

My 78 year old blind mother had an appointment today and it will be her last. The doctor was rude, mean and totally unprofessional. My mom has fallen twice and had x-ray done, the results showed osteoporosis arthritis. The doctor said it was nothing, even though the poor woman can barely walk because of the pain. (used with a sing. verb) The branch of medicine that deals with the prevention or correction of injuries or disorders of the skeletal system and associated muscles, joints, and ligaments. In 2011, while riding in the express-lane of the south-bound 110, I became the victim of a hit & run, when a white Toyota truck decided to cross the double-yellow line right in front of me. Among the injuries I sustained, was a shattered wrist that was so bad, it would never heal properly, and would require surgery to remove the pieces and replace with an artificial, metal replacement. The doctor/surgeon overseeing everything from beginning to end was Dr. Brian Solberg. Admittedly when I first met Dr. Solberg, I was doped out of my head, due to the extensive injuries I had sustained. But I recall clearly that his bedside manner was exemplary: taking his time to explain what had happened in terms of the injury, and what was needed to repair the damage- thorough, but not overtly technical. He spoke with you and to you, rather than down to you. After the surgery, I was prescribed physical therapy twice a week, with a visit to Dr Solberg's office every other. He would thoroughly check the progress of my healing, flexibility, and what to expect in the future in terms of pain, joint stiffness, development of related problems, etc. No stone was left unturned, and all questions were answered. For anyone who has orthopedic trauma, and requires examination, surgery, or rehabilitation, I cannot recommend Dr. Soldberg enough. read more

Dr Matt N. is a good knowledgeable doctor with relatively good bedside manners. Orthopedic surgeons have a general reputation for being pompous and rough but my experience here was positive. Couple of areas of the office can use some remodeling for better aesthetics. read more

Was weary to visit here initially because of the location but the visit I had here today only validated my skepticism.... Women working the front desk reception area don't smile they look like they're hating life, The Latino gentleman that called me to the back That called me in for my appointment was the friendliest one of all. 1st they had a medical resident examine my knee and then Dr Solbergs PA came in I was very vocal about the struggle that I am having with my torn ACL and how it is affecting my quality of life he disregarded everything I said and told me that I could have a steroid shot and a topical cream. When I kept insisting that that would not suffice he told me that I am too old and too heavy to get surgery... Mind you I am 35 slightly overweight, Nowhere near obese or to a point where I couldn't lose a few pounds to get a surgery this place is garbage completely unprofessiona, NEXT!!l read more

My Mom has being seeing Dr Solberg and Dr Zayed for over 2 years. First they did a knee replacement and a month ago Dr Solberg performed a rotator cuff surgery. I don't have enough words to say how wonderful they are. Dr Zayed comes to say Hi and check on my Mom every time we go to seer Dr Solberg. Both surgeries were a success and my Mom felt very well taking care. Highly recommend this both wonderful doctors. read more

There better be a good reason for them to cancel our appointment TWICE. My mom had to go see Dr. Solberg for her knee arthritis, she had to take off 2 days at two different times just so they can call her early in the morning as she is about to leave for the appointment and tell her it is cancelled. Dr. Rick Zayed seemed like he did not care about my well being. He cleared me to play College Soccer on a fully torn ACL and Medial and lateral meniscus tear. He said "you're fine, you don't need your ACL". This left me a bit confused. I knew he had no idea what he was talking about so I got a second opinion anyway and the doctor knew I needed surgery as soon as possible and did not clear me to play college ball. Dr.Zayed seemed like he did not want to inform me on anything and just wanted me in and out of there. I had several questions to ask and he cut me off short. He only prescribed me an ACL brace to play. But at the collegiate level it is nearly impossible to play without an ACL. If I had followed what Dr.Zayed had told me I would have been at greater risk for arthritis and other possible torn ligaments. Fortunately for me I am Kinesiology major and know a lot about the anatomy and topics related to sports medicine, etc... I read more

I've had Dr. Solberg repair 5 torn tendons over the last 10 years due to heavy weight training and age. He's nothing short of amazing. Not only is he exemplary at restoring function, I'd say he a talented artist as well. Two of the tendons I tore were completely off the bone and so badly damaged that he had to shorten them and reattach them in a different location which could have easily resulted in my muscles looking different or even deformed afterwards as I've seen on many other people but it didn't. They look perfect. No one would ever know that I tore them off the bone. Not only is he an incredible surgeon, but his prediction of how the recovery would go in each case was spot on every time.
