Wow! This gem is tucked away with lack of signs. It is part of a hotel. Amazing food!!! Amazing views!!! Very romantic! And it's fairly inexpensive.

While spending New Years in Cancún, I wanted to take my man on a nice, romantic date at a local spot, and after a bit of searching and review reading, I found this place. I wasn't sure it was still open due to the lack of Yelp reviews, but there were other recent reviews that eased my mind. Most were excellent, but some complained of quality. We tried anyway. This place is definitely off the beaten path as stated by others, but it really wasn't too hard to find. I knew that it sat behind a hotel and not on the street. So, we walked down Quetzal from Boulevard Kukulcán and found Hotel Imperial Laguna, which was the closest one. After walking inside, we spotted the sign to the left for the restaurant and headed out back. We walked through the garden toward the lagoon, and it popped up like magic. It was super small and right on the dock with string lights hung above. What a gorgeous setting! For some reason, there was a miscommunication between OpenTable and the restaurant. So, we didn't have a reservation for NYE, but the manager , Alex, accommodated us and quickly got us set up with a table right on the dock. Bread and some sort of spread quickly arrived. The spread was a mayonnaise based paste with parsley and garlic, which was definite BOMB! We had two baskets and almost a third since it was so addictive. For the NYE set menu, we started with asparagus topped with ham and cheese. This was quickly devoured as it was so tasty. The asparagus was cooked to perfection as it was soft but with a little bite and a very rich sauce to boot. For the second course, I had the beef filet with cilantro mashed potatoes. Beef was cooked to order and did not disappoint with its juicy, succulent flavor, and the potatoes were rich with a slight citrusy flavor. He had the salmon covered in fennel cream sauce and couscous. I'm not a huge fan of salmon, but his was delicious, and the sauce really made it. Both entrees were served with mixed veggies that were a perfect compliment. For dessert, they served us chocolate cake with raspberry syrup. Overall, the setting was super romantic, food was outstanding, and we were so thankful that Alex was able to accommodate us on such a busy evening. Definitely worth a return visit!

Almost wondered if I was at the right place for a minute- like a secret garden walk by the pool/thru the hotel down to the waterside.

Excellent food. Peaceful with a water view. Always surprising to first timers but worth seeking out.

Totally different view of the lagoon, and much quieter and quaint than the usual hotel zone restaurants.

It's huge, as far as presentation it's not very fancy, it was tasty but as large as it was you'd think it had more alcohol to offset the size. But it did not. My wife ordered the aguachile with octopus. I ordered the Tuna Burger, and we got the steak quesadillas as an appetizer. My wife said she would give her aguachile a 3.8 out of 5. I thought the tuna burger was very tasty. Basically they took a tuna steak and put it between a hamburger bun. I can't really compare it to a regular meat burger. But on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 7. It came only with lettuce and tomato, but it had flavor enough. The quesadilla's were good, but nothing special, I'd say they were comparable to any you get at an average Mexican restaurant in the states. We came here because of the high ratings. Maybe we ordered the wrong things to try, I thought everything was good, but nothing that was so good it made me want to hurry back.

The menu is simple with just enough options to where everyone can find something they like. I had the skirt steak tacos and my friend got fish tacos, We also ordered a frozen margarita and mojito that were huge!!!!! The prices were fair for what you get and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The music is not too loud so you can have a conversation with your group. They are not pushy to get you in and out like other places. Will definitely be back

Waiters speak Spanish and English, are very friendly, and absolutely no wait for the waterfront table. The shrimp ceviche had so many shrimp with a tasty sweet sauce and avocado garnish. Guacamole was perfectly prepared, and all meals come with tortilla chips and a variety of salsas on a decorative boat tray. The tuna steak and Salmon with Lime Sauce were prepared perfectly and were both tasty and high quality. Sadly, the food was so delicious and filling we had no room to try the desserts. About a block away from the Isla Mall, but a much more authentic experience than the mall restaurants. A must-try dinner spot for seafood lovers in the Cancun hotel zone.
