This has been our go-to place for dinner when we arrive on the island. I'm sad to say that this time the food was disappointing. We did not go back after that one meal. The coconut shrimp used to be stellar, but they were a bit tasteless . The shrimp tacos were a special that night, so we ordered those as well, and did not finish them. Great food! Even better Carajillos! Went multiple times during 6 day visit. The Ceviche and blue crusted Shrimp Tacos are top notch. Located in the middle of the island for a city view (and bonus view of beautiful dog poking his head through an elaborate staircase). This place is hit or miss. Some of the dishes were amazing while others were very disappointing. I would stay away from any dishes with beef both the beef carpaccio and ribeye were tuff and unappetizing. The appetizers were great definitely order the tuna spring rolls and calamari. The blacked grouper with shrimp special was definitely the star of the show. It was outstanding and definitely what you need to order when you come here. Tried to go to this place with 6 guests at 3:45pm on a Wednesday. They said, "we only have seats in the sun or on the swings." We were trying to go to mango cafe but it was closed for renovations. Tired and frustrated from waking we continued on a few more feet and stumbled on Caribbean Brisas. What a pleasant surprise! Everyone was instantly in a better mood when served the amazing bloody Mary's! We loved this place! We stopped in on our first evening on Isla Mujeres and had a wonderfully fun and relaxed evening and meal after a busy day of travel. I had the Tequila grilled Shrimp which was deliciously prepared over a bed of perfectly streamed fresh vegetables. Others in the party had fresh grouper, also very well prepared, and my husband had the lobster kabobs served with rice and cabbage slaw - the lobster was perfectly cooked and really flavorful. I trusted the majority of reviews, and while the food was good, the service is poor. We had the Chef Special- Blackened Grouper w/ 3 jumbo shrimp. It came on top of extremely bland "mashed" potatoes and only two asparagus. The fish & shrimp were cooked well, but all in all it was overrated. I asked for bread, and it was over toasted and tasted more like day old toast. Other than taking our order, the waitstaff was MIA the majority of the meal.
