What a treat! My Free Walking Tour Barcelona guide Giada told us a Creme Catalon is a must do, and was she right! This charming place is nestled in the Gothic area and was so charming. After charm came an incredible experience of the Catalon version of creme brûlée. It was infused I believe with cardamom, and was incredibly light and rich with a thin crust of caramelized sugar. It is a creme I will never forget, and my only regret, I leave for Granada and I don't have time to enjoy another one!There are servers and of course you must take a coffee. I wish I could eat wheat because the churros looked good too! Don't forget to dip your churros! read more

Came here for the churros con chocolate as I had some really good ones in Madrid and was hoping I could follow that up here as well. However, I left pretty disappointed. The churros were not as crispy as I would have liked them.and the chocolate was just not right. I had added the whipped cream to it and that really had no good flavor. Also, it was a bit pricey for what it was. read more

Located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, La Pallaresa is a great spot for Churros Con Chocolate. The service isn't particularly friendly but I didn't really have any complaints. The server was a little harried but gave us menus in both English and Spanish and was easy to flag when you needed his attention. The Churros Con Chocolate is good but if you want your hot chocolate a little lighter, you might want to get it "Swiss" which will be topped with a thick clump of whipped cream that will lessen the intensity of the chocolate if that's not your thing. It's a popular spot and can get crowded so go early and you shouldn't have a problem snagging a table. read more

This is a for the churros only. This is one of best churros I had while in Barcelona. I went to four places. They're light and light crispy. If you like a bit more of a crispier exterior, then go to Churrieria Laietana. The chocolate was ok. The service was good. Enjoyed this place. I liked them so much, if I had more time, I would have gone back, order to take home with me, freeze them, and reheat them in my airfryer. read more

We followed the crowd in to try what seemed to be so popular for the locals. The thick hot chocolate with the white round pastry wasn't my favourite kind of dessert. The churros with home made whipped cream was a bit better. Creme brulee was the best among those. Very lively atmosphere and it felt great to mingle with the locals. read more

Having just spent two weeks in Barcelona has rendered me an expert in the way churros and chocolate. At least that's what I'd like to think. After trying La Pallaresa, I can say it paled in comparison to Granja M. Viader. Why you ask? The churros served at La Pallaresa had been sitting for a while, and over at Granja M. Viader, they churning out fresh out of the fryer churros to accompany that thick, rich cup of chocolate. Honestly, the chocolate at both were pretty close, but you just can't beat fresh, warm churros, which is something La Pallaresa didn't deliver. read more

Nice place to have churros tucked away in the narrow streets. My wife and I had an order of churros con chocolate and coffee each. Some of the best tasting churros in Barcelona in my opinion. Freshly made, good chocolate and at a good price. read more

We were visiting from the States, so the "milkbar" (Granja) concept was new to us, and we absolutely loved it! The "hot chocolate" was very thick, dark, more bitter than sweet, and the whipped cream was made right before our eyes and was also very rich and not very sweet. To die for. We got a plate of churros and dipped them in the chocolate and cream. Heavenly. Our waiter was very sweet, and it was obvious that he loved sharing part of his culture with us. The place was crowded even right before closing time. It's located on one of the narrow side streets, so it's not awfully touristy. read more

Came here for the churros while in Barcelona. It seems like a place with a lot of locals as well as tourists. I had the churros and hot chocolate. The churros were so chewy and delicious. Not like the stuff you get in NYC subways haha. I saw a lot of other people eating churros with whipped cream, which looked delicious. I wish I got to try that but I was so full. My friend had the Catalan cream which was delicious as well. read more

My Husband and I came to Barcelona on our honeymoon. This cute little restaurant was perfect for a lovely breakfast treat. We got a thick hot chocolate, churros and an Ensaimada. It was so much fun walking the tiny streets to find this place...it was what I have always pictured Barcelona to be! Perfect. Highly recommended. read more

Loved this old local's spot in the Gothic Quarter. The churros are NOT like the churros in the state, but it's fun for the experience. They are less sweet and bit more oily than the ones I'm used to in the U.S. Order the Spanish hot chocolate with these for dipping. The Spanish hot chocolate is soooo thick! One for true chocolate lovers. It's very inexpensive and I would suggest sharing one order or churros and hot chocolate because it's SO rich in flavor you might get full really fast! read more

I'm on a quest to find churros as good as the ones at La Vega in Jerez (if possible). This place came highly recommended but fell far short of La Vega...and also of my expectations. They weren't fresh and crispy, and they lacked that savory element to them. Service was quick and the chocolate was nice. But for me, the churros con chocolate experience is all about the churros. They need to be able to stand out on their own. These, though serviceable, did not. read more

This place is the classic granja for merienda or afternoon snack. You can get a cup of beautiful thick chocolate with or without whip cream, fresh churros or melindros(more commonly eaten in catalunya) or a variety of other baked goods and sweets including cream catalan, natilla, and ensamanda. There is zero ambiance apart from the history that drops from the walls. read more

Even though they serve churros con chocolate TO DIE FOR, this is not a place for tourists, and they will make you feel as unwelcome as they are proud to make you feel. The servers are the young and entitled stuck up brats, and what seemed to be an owner, one of those older generation/ Franco burnt distrustful and nasty catalanes. With so many options in the city, if you are not a local, don't waste your time or spirit in an establishment that does not welcome your presence. This is one of the reasons I really didn't fall for Barcelona as I did for Madrid or Tuscany. I guess I over romanticized Barcelona in my mind, not understanding that it is still healing from Franco and barely recovered from being "slummy" thanks to the 1992 Olympics. Since I am no longer in my 20's or 30's. Ft. Lauderdale-ish experiences aren't for us. I am fluent in castellano and by no means look touristy. This establishment simply does NOT want visitors outside of their community. What a pity. Their churros are WONDERFUL! read more

Very nice place, seems like it's a lot of locals.. that's always a good sign. The Spanish chocolate is better than the French if you like dark chocolate. It's nice to come here, if i come back i would def try more stuff like the flan and other desserts also. I only had churros and chocolate. read more

This coffee is known by the locals. One has to try the spanish chocolate with churros which appears to be the speciality. We also enjoyed the cappuccinos. This is a clean place. You will need cash as debit card is not accepted. read more

The bars come in different sizes, so if you want quick and easy-to-handle souvenirs to take home, this might be it. I think the smaller bars were 3.95 Euros while the larger bars were 9.95 Euros. My friend purchased a large box of the round ones before she realized they had smaller boxes and they graciously allowed her to exchange her purchase. Service was very quick and friendly. Wish there was a shop like this near my home; I'd be there quite often!!
