From the minute I pulled into the parking lot I felt welcomed -- the security team greeted me with a positive attitude and genuine willingness to help. The registration staff were fast, efficient, and made the check-in process completely smooth. Before I knew it I was being triaged by an outstanding nurse, RN RYAN, and was then assigned to my primary nurse, RN Brian, who was professional and attentive the whole time. Dr. Nguyen and the entire emergency department provided excellent care. The team worked seamlessly together, communicated clearly, and treated me with respect and compassion. I would never send a family member here. One of my residents was admitted for 11 days, and from the beginning I repeatedly informed multiple nurses that she had symptoms consistent with a UTI. Despite bringing my concerns to the attention of at least six different nurses, no one appeared to properly document the issue or initiate treatment. To make matters worse, her essential medication for tremors was discontinued during her stay. Neither the family nor our care team was notified of this change. As a result, her condition worsened significantly. Because of her tremors, she requires assistance with meals. On multiple occasions, meals were left for her without adequate support, leaving her unable to eat independently. Our caregivers had to come to the hospital in shifts just to ensure she was fed. After escalating my concerns, I spoke directly with Risk Management and the House Supervisor. While they stated they would investigate the situation, no one ever took accountability for the breakdowns in care or communicated any meaningful findings from their review. As someone responsible for coordinating care for vulnerable seniors, I found the lack of communication, documentation, and follow-through extremely concerning. Patients and families deserve better. I sincerely hope the hospital reviews its processes to ensure future patients do not experience similar gaps in care. read more

I had a great experience at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital's emergency room. From the moment I checked in, everything moved quickly--I was seen by Dr. Nguyen in less than 10 minutes, which was incredibly reassuring. Dr. Nguyen was professional, attentive, and made me feel well taken care of. The nurses were absolutely incredible--kind, efficient, and genuinely compassionate. My sister was admitted over the New Year holiday. Let's start with with the visit in the emergency room. One nurse named Jasmine checked in on my sister and to make sure she was okay. Once her room was ready, she was then help facilitate the transfer to her room. Regarding the inpatient stay, her night nurse was Albina. She has been a RN for the past 30 years and very nice to my sister during her stay. She checked in on her only when it was time to administer medication. The day time nurses; Josh and Nyca. Josh was a nice guy but seemed to lack confidence. There was a mishap and as result a rapid response was called. Nyca, was awesome. She was attentive to my sister and kind to us. Dr. Shoukair, the cardiologist was very rude and lacked bedside manner. My sister and I did not appreciate his attitude. He talked down to us as if he were superior than us. I hope that we never have another encounter with him. Dr. Alami, the GI was amazing and an excellent doctor. He was very professional and explained the treatment plan clearly and asked us if we had questions. Her attending physicians; Dr. Meraj and Dr. Morado. Dr. Meraj saw my sister one time only. Dr. Morado was also a great doctor. He took his time to treat her and explain the next steps in her care. Fico, the CNA was a very sweet guy too. I understand that her hospital stay was over a holiday, but there should be clear communication with regards to treatment of care and physician rounding regardless of holiday or not. read more

ER team was great and so was the nurse team n once I was admitted. The problem wA when it came time to discharge me it seems that the attending a Dr.Lim and the neurologist Dr.Chao/Chan didn't communicate properly with each other and even though I was told since 10am that the neurologist would see me today so then I could be discharged today no one ever came by the rest of the day. Once one of the nurses was able to get a hold of the neurologist and explain to him the situation he said he was never told about me and wouldn't come in until the next day so no I have to stay a whole other night because of their mistakes. DON'T SEND LOVED ONES HERE. THIS PLACE LOST MY RESPECT AND TRUST except for ER team and Nurse Lexi Santos (Roommate's nurse and I love how she attentively worked with the amount of things she did for my roommates). Please give Nurse Lexi a raise or recognition. She's not my nurse, but amazing work ethics helping my roommate. Do I want to be a patient here ever again: No, but I was transferred here without much choice. Complete opposite than the ER. Transfer somewhere else if you have the choice, because this place just pure confuses me. Only positive were the micro-interactions between patients and CNA's. So awkward and frustrating when a nurse (Korean Nurse Jason Chung from MedSurg) gives out false medical facts that is purely wrong and they apologize because it was pure dumb of them to say that. Think before you speak please and don't gossip behind a person's back just because the patient caught you in a mistake or lie. If you expect privacy, close the door as the patients can hear you. The phlebotomist who you gossiped to actually apologized for your stead. I am a person who stayed at the hospital for 1.5 days and this whole stay was rollercoaster of good first impression, fake sugar coating then false hope. What made me sad was when I said "I am putting my hope in your words" and Nurse Robert responds with stoicism and emotional detachment. Could not face him in the face of how dejected I felt. Kind of confused and never informed to my plan of care, or how long I am going to be here. To be straightforward, I am becoming hopeless, trapped, suffocating due to the lack of answers and medical treatment since entering. However, after five hours, I am little blessed to have Nurse Robert 6/10 to really provide some solutions and hope. They took my routine medication. Did not receive my alternate medication, but at least got fluids for my kidneys. The fact that I missed the timing of the medication because pharmacy is closed and medication taken away makes me fearful of the consequences and unable to sleep. I hope that it is not just empty words, but so far he has made this trapped feeling a tiny less burdensome by at least communicating to the doctor and relaying why the patient feels anxious. I am feeling hopeless as the nurse took away medication without any clear assurance of the fear of missing my medication. It does seem like the pharmacy closed after I was admitted and thus it just sucks. It does feel like a burden to ask for things here and people forget (but I don't know how long I should wait until asking again as things do take more than an hour). Hopefully, it's just a night thing where there are less staff and less work that could be done, but truly want to be out of here instead of "enjoying" my stay. Please visit your family here because it would make a difference. It is kind of depressing here. It is a rollercoaster of positive hopeful words v. following through with what is told. Kind of feels like a game of finding out whose word will become empty words or actual work done. But I hate this. Thank you Nurse Robert for attempting to appease a worried patient, but being let down hurts more than like a nurse being straightforward about not knowing the situation too. She's not my nurse but Nurse Lexi is awesome and I love how her knowledge help patients understand the nurses explanation. read more

If Ghalib M Wahidi is the acting doctor for the time you are going, DO NOT GO HERE. It was one of the most demeaning experiences of my life. Your doctor, Ghalib M Wahidi, is absolutely apathetic to the patient experience. When my partner and I went into the ER last night, we waited for over an hour and 45 minutes, and he ended up lying down on the hospital floor because he was going to pass out. When we were getting checked in, we told both the check-in person (Franklin, who was also extremely rude) that we have been unable to eat or drink anything for nearly 2-3 days, and I've had my fever for 4. This information was also relayed to the nurses once we were able to see them, not that they used that information at all lol. When we finally got admitted to a bed, the "doctor" Ghalib only saw us for LITERALLY 30 seconds while telling us we had the flu and there was nothing he could do other than write a prescription and then immediately tried to discharge us. He also called my partner fat, then tried to prescribe him ozempic? Then left? It was ridiculous. He tried to discharge 2 patients who weren't well enough to DRIVE HOME (we could barely even STAND on our feet for more than 45 seconds. My partner even less.) while throwing his hands up in the air. Furthermore, they didn't give us a prescription to a pharmacy that would be open until AFTER Christmas. We were in there (in the waiting room) on 12/24 beginning around 6:20. I had to beg and plead for them to find a pharmacy that would be open because I couldn't even look at my phone without being nauseous. On top of that, everyone was super ageist. Nurses kept telling us that we were young and that we could drink water and eat, when we had TOLD THEM VERBALLY that we had been UNABLE TO DO SO for the last 3 DAYS. How apathetic does a facility have to be? And the doctor? Wasn't the oath that Ghalib took AS A DOCTOR to see each patient and tend to their individual need? Ghalib needs to be evaluated or fired because he was awful. He doesn't have a shred of empathy in him. When we asked to see the doctor again (it took us literally 15 minutes of fighting with the nurses for Ghalib to finally even give us the time of day -- they even threatened to call security and Cypress Police), Ghalib kept demeaning us, telling us "Every child who came in here had the flu and they left without an IV." Okay? AND WHAT? We are NOT those kids! You cannot look at each patient the same! You should be ASHAMED of yourself. The worst part is, he just threw his hands up in the air and said, "OK, you can have the IV." like it was the most difficult thing for him to concede. I'll never forget this experience. I will do my best to tell everyone I possible can about Ghalib M Wahidi and the horrible experience I had at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. So, call ahead. If Ghalib is the doctor, you're SoL. If I could put zero I would. My grandfather was admitted on May 24th to emergency for chest and back pain. He was admitted there and stayed the night. When we left him he was stable, everything was okay. Till we went in the morning he had throw up all over him and the patient next to him told us that he had been spitting and coughing up all night. Not one nurse came to check up on him, because if they did he would not have throw up on him when we went in the morning!!!! It was Memorial Day but there's no excuse for nurses to be slacking off because they are being paid to take care of the patients. He passed away at 12:05pm on Memorial Day and I wonder if the lack of help that he never got from the nurses was also a factor. I hope that stays in those certain nurses conscious that they're the reason a patient died due to THEIR negligence. We also went today TUESDAY to ask for and see if his death certificate was ready. We entered and saw only one receptionist, OR so we thought! Peeped a little over the desk and there was this girl blonde or maybe fake blonde who knows these days lol, was on her phone literally HIDING so no one would ask her questions! What type of receptionists do you hire??? I should've taken a picture of her because it was quite funny how she was deliberately hiding from everyone and being on her phone. It doesn't matter if no one's come up to you yet you should not be all slouched up like that on your phone! Horrible service, pretty sure her name was Vanessa. ER admitting lady Maria, Older Hispanic lady with glasses, was rude, condescending and overall disrespectful

If you care about patient rights, avoid this place. My adult son with Autism voluntarily admitted himself here, but when he later asked to leave (and was not on a 5150 or any legal hold), the hospital blocked him from discharging himself. Staff repeatedly talked him into staying longer, even after he clearly said he was not suicidal and had no plan. When I advocated for him, a staff member named Tiffany, who is not licensed in mental health, told me to leave or they'd call security. I was calmly waiting for my son--and instead, five security guards were called to remove me. They refused to give my son clean clothes I brought him and held him in a chaotic, unsanitary unit with patients in distress. When I called the police, the officer laughed with staff and sided with Tiffany instead of checking if any legal hold was in place. This was an abusive and traumatic experience. They exploited a vulnerable person and shut out family support. Do not trust this facility with your loved one's care. read more

I went to this ER with gallstone issues. You eat the typical high-fat American diet and you end up making lots and lots of bile, because that's the only way to emulsify fat and digest it. All this bile is stored in your gallbladder and is released when the hormone cholecystokinin signals the gallbladder to send bile into the mixture of food and fat in your intestine. Chances are, some of this bile will harden and turn into stones and almost everyone in America ends up with this. The gallbladder is surgically removed in close to a MILLION people every year, thanks to all the fat and grease in the American diet. Gallbladder drama comes in two varieties. Either it hurts pretty bad, like I had. Or else, it becomes infected and then it must be cut out before it bursts. Now, I used other hospitals before, so I have something to compare this one to. The ER at Anaheim Memorial is 100%, as far as high-quality medical care goes. No problems there and they will provide good care. But, the ER here at La Palma is EASILY two to three times better than that. How? It's not just the best medical skills that you can find. It goes way beyond that, into actual patient care. You're not treated like just something to stick needles into and do procedures on, although it is perfectly acceptable to do that. After all, you're there to receive the help that you need. But, they always respect that you are a living person, who is probably scared and in distress. They ask you if they can perform the procedures and they treat you with respect and dignity as they help you. It's a thousand times more than just what you normally expect from a typical medical facility. Does it matter that you are treated with kindness and care? ABSOLUTELY! My god, you have control over your life and you are able to participate in your care, rather than just lying there and accepting whatever is being done to you. Yes, it absolutely matters! Oh my god, yes! Plus, you are receiving the finest medical care possible! I know, because I read all the notes that the providers created during my visit. I was pretty sure it was gallstones, and the physician did not even sort of discount my assessment. Many of them want to make their own conclusions and they don't really lend much credence to what patients believe. But, not these providers! They listen to everything that you tell them, and they use it to help determine what you need. What nurse asks your permission to insert an IV? Most providers are so busy that they barely even have time to even do the procedure. But at this facility, everyone is just amazingly kind and considerate to you. Yes, it absolutely makes a world of difference! It's simply the best care that you could possibly hope for here! Kind and considerate providers offering the finest medical care possible. I looked at their differential notes and they considered every possibility that could have caused my pain. My blood pressure is elevated, and they wanted to explore that further as well. I had blood work and an ultrasound done, to confirm the gallstones. The physician came and explained what she saw and offered her recommendation as to dietary changes that I could make. She spent time talking and listening to everything that I had to say, which is far above and beyond what you would normally expect in a typical healthcare setting. The fee was only half of what I would have expected it to be! Most ER visits begin at $10,000 and go up from there, depending on what tests are needed. So, this facility is not charging excessive amounts for the world-class care they are providing. Honestly, these medical care providers deserve to be paid more than TWICE what they currently receiving! They provide the best care possible and for that, they deserve to be financially stress-free in their off-duty lives. They need to know that they are being compensated for every bit of the world-class care that they are providing to patients. Although I am sure they are far more motivated by their desire to provide excellence in patient care than by money. Still, they should have the financial ability to provide for all of their needs. Starting pay for nurses should be $100 and two and three times that amount for the physicians. Overall, I was not only highly impressed with the care they provided. But, I was GRATEFUL, because they made me aware of an impending problem BEFORE it became necessary to intervene surgically. You will never find better overall medical care than this facility provides. I don't care where you go or how much you pay. This is simply as good as it gets and you end up going away feeling absolutely amazed at the whole experience. In Google, I left a review that says much the same thing. I uploaded the medical notes that the providers left, to show that I was an actual patient and to show the names of the providers that I saw. Oh, did I mention that I was completely and totally satisfied with the care that I received? I did? OK, then. read more

I went to the La Palma Intercommunity Hospital ER to investigate massive anxiety I was having. During my four hour visit to the Emergency Room my attending nurse through what seemed to me due to a combination of malice and incompetence injured my left arm while drawing blood. I should have run out of there the moment I saw this gruff, inattentive, distracted tall Asian dude who for some reason is allowed to wear a ridiculous hat while on duty. But stupid me for not 'judging a book by its cover.' After applying a tourniquet he botched drawing blood and left a needle deep in me for four hours. It was only several hours into my stay that I learned of his mistake when a second nurse was unable to draw more blood from my arm and had to use my other arm. Upon discharging me, my nurse violently removed the needle causing me injury. Instead of a normal bandage to cover the wound he instead tried to hide his mistake by wrapping a purple tourniquet-like bandage over the entire area. Hours after leaving the hospital and seeking to relieve the pain I was feeling from his bandage, I then saw the massive dark bruising around the area they drew blood. Now, days later my bruising remains and the area remains painful and swollen. In summary, I left their emergency room in worse shape than when I went in and with even more anxiety. read more

My mother was staying at this hospital for surgery, and when I went to visit her, I could tell they were not treating her well. ALL DAY they allowed her to lay in a wet bed, with wet blankets/pillows, and a wet gown. It took me to ask for them to change her blankets for them to realize it. It took them over 15 minutes to finally come help us change her and by the time they (multiple nurses) came in, I had already helped my mom remove the blankets off the wet bed. On top of that! All of my moms monitors continued to beat repeatedly during my 3 hour visit with her & they only came once to check.. very concerning. Last thing.. the patient that shared the room with my mom was being transferred to a different room. I found it so concerning to see the way the nurse continuously bumped the bed into the door and made jokes about it like "good driver good driver". I definitely do not recommend to be seen under this hospitals care. They are unprofessional, constantly gossiping in the hallways loud enough for patients to hear, and are not attentive to the patients. read more

They took my sons vital at 5 something. That's it. Now we're sitting in a room that's foe the 5150 patients. My son is sitting in a recliner for the past 52 minutes. The RN has been in here once. My mom was taken here by ambulance and while I have to say the ER front desk was not helpful at all and was very rude, all of the other staff was amazing! She had come in due to falling and doctors found out she had a pretty bad infection and luckily saved her life just in time and performed 2 successful surgeries! My son was a patient here admitted on 4pm 3/6/25. For starters, my son is type 1 diabetic. This hospital did not give my son his overnight insulin and did not allow us to give him insulin. No insulin was given for 17 hours until after his FIRST meal 17 hours later (3/7/25). His sugar was high for an extended amount of time!! VERY BAD FOR THE BODY, ORGANS etc... negligence!! Secondly, their MHP does not know how to communicate to their patients. She lied to my wife and son and then told myself a different story vs what was actually documented vs what another MHP has advised us... malpractice! This hospital staff does not know how to use resources and I had to do their job for them and find resources myself, which I found within minutes vs 18-19hours that we waited for this hospital to find... lack of experience and resources! Having exposure in the medical field, this hospital has the worst patient care and services ever! This is not the first time we've had very poor service here. However, the first time I write this poor review about this hospital. Like other review states, if you love your family, avoid this place at all costs. But once I was checked in the Better Angels surfaced and were really pleasant and kind and I thank GOD for them Will was one of my nurses and he was kind and patient so was the young lady I thank GOD for them!! I was admitted very scared and unsure of the care I would receive, to my surprise the best care and attention I've ever received all the nurses took the time to make me feel comfortable and calm ,though I was in great pain not knowing why .the drs did their best to make sure I understood everything that was going on explained everything to me and my husband as my gallbladder had an infection causing a lot of pain . If you want to live don't go to this hospital!!! My Dad was taken here by ambulance, was losing consciousness, and he is a diabetic. They knew his blood sugars were low yet they had to be told to give him something to increase it. Why does a layman have to explain basic medical information to a hospital, Completely incompetent staff. I don't understand how this hospital is still open. Nobody likes going to the ER, but anytime I've gone to the La Palma Intercommunity Hospital ER, I've been happy with my care. It's also usually the quickest ER experiences I've had. They usually have me in and out of there within 2-4 hours. I was most recently there this past Sunday. I was checked in at 10pm and home by 2:15am. I only waited in the lobby for 45 minutes until I got called to the back. The registration person was the only one who wasn't super friendly. I didn't catch her name. She was okay, I guess. Not rude, but not friendly. The triage nurse, Rolland, was so attentive and thorough. He was quick about getting me into a bed right away and showed compassion for why I was there. My nurse, Ed, was terrific. He had such a great attitude and was thoughtful about my comfort without me ever having to ask for anything. Katy, despite getting called in from home, was super friendly. She did my ultrasound. She was so warm and offered a lot of emotional comfort for what I was experiencing. The phlebotomist, Tiranci, was also very kind and efficient. (I'm not sure if that's her name. I didn't get a clear look at her name tag.) I didn't feel a thing when she drew my blood. And I didn't bruise at all - a rarity for me. Dr. Melanie Stanzer was awesome. She was so kind and took her time to examine me, review all the labs and tests they did, and discuss follow-up care. I was sent home with very helpful information to give to my regular doctor for continued care. All the tests they ran helped give a clear picture to my doctor of what was going on. I am so grateful to all who work at LPIH. It has a small-town feel to it, which I greatly appreciate. The fact that the entire hospital is only one story in a major metropolitan area is so unusual. We had a recent medical emergency and needed to be seen right away. The wait on a Saturday afternoon was not bad at all. Usually we hate hospitals but our needs were met and my daughter is now doing incredibly well and i am very grateful to have received such great care here. I have to commend our amazing nurse "Chris" who was so sweet and kind and made our stay here pleasant and fun. I wish I had to go back to the hospital again just because of how amazing and cool he was, most of all he was extremely professional. No offense to the rest of the staff and nurses but La Palma Hospital is so much nicer having him tend to the sick :) Thank you Chris, you are the best :) read more

To be truthfully honest you are better off calling the ambulance or even better off just dying. If you go in at 5pm you'll still be there waiting at 2 in the morning even if your child has asthma breathing problems. It's been like this for years. read more

There is no resolution. We had to do the leg work to get her out of that home. Stop sending your patients there. Why would you send anyone there? Is there an arrangement on sending patients to that horrible place? The nurse just up and sent her there. read more
