This place is going downhill fast, use to be one of the greatest home in the wall Hispanic restaurants. So they only except cash now or zelle(no thanks), because they use easy dine computers( if u know you know). The don't make guacamole fro. Scratch anymore and it's nasty. I was there on Thursday, they served me grey pico de gallo,it was old enough cilantro was brown and slimy. Server replaced it, my steak in burrito tasted like old reheated rubbery grey meat. They didn't change out my guest pico,didn't even try. I understand food cost have gone up,but if you can't produce quality food you will lose customers.This place use to be the best,they seem to be riding the golden days of restaurants,skipping on quality and not producing a good product anymore. Where do I even start!? We decided to venture off the beaten path and try a new mexican spot. As soon as I saw that they had a crunch wrap on the menu I said "IMMEDIATELY YES". I ordered a veggie hard taco and the Raja Con Queso Crunch Wrap. My husband got the Arroz Con Camarones and we got an Elote to share. Everything came out QUICK and each dish was insanely good. I came here with my boyfriend and the decor was cute! I really liked the art by the booths (seat and tables). The drinks that we got (horchata and jugo de Jamaica) were tasty! Definitely a 10/10 for me with the drinks since they were sweet. They also give you chips at the beginning which is nice. I thought the food was okay. They give you a lot for the price which is nice. The only thing was that the flautas I got were a little dry but it was tasty. My boyfriend really liked the enchilada's. I would come back for some drinks and some other food to try out. We have been eating here for a very long time. I say that because we always had really good, solid dish offerings, broad assortment...authentic and generally fun. We stopped in last night looking forward to some of our favs. To say we were surprised would be an understatement. I have never had chicken tacos with Sysco "chunks" of chicken in my travels to other like restaurants. It was pretty weird. We didn't finish our meals and we both commented that something was different. My hope is that whomever has bought the place can improve. Service is central and the prior team was Welcoming, accommodating and you never had to ask for a thing. They have a large menu with options that are more Tex-Amex/Americanized, but also more traditionally Mexican-style items like tacos with cilantro and onion or sopes But the thing that changed my life was the blue moon Mango-rita. This is our favorite spot for Mexican food in Indianapolis - consistently good food and service. We got our usual tacos, lengua on flour tortilla and al pastor on corn tortilla. The lengua meat always delivers, it's a rich piece but not in an overwhelming way with a soft texture. It's a great combo with the flour tortilla which is fresh and a chewy texture. Al pastor is a safe choice as well with a generous portion of meat. We got pozole and chicken mole for the first time and the mole was a WINNER! Pozole was okay - large portion size and variety of fixings but wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. On the other hand, the mole was amazing and I'll definitely be getting it again. It was freshly made 2 hours ago and we were told it was cooked the traditional way that takes all day. It was a rich and creamy sauce that had earthy, chocolatey flavors with lovely notes of cinnamon and other spices. The lean chicken was cooked really well, it was meaty but not dry. They definitely used good quality chicken. Just overall an A+ dish! Highly, highly recommend this one and La Parada in general! read more

Hitting the spot, La Parada! We were hungry and desperately wanting to avoid making dinner...I was also hankering something not so healthy... The original plan was a breaded tenderloin but an enchilada would suffice as a stand in. La Parada is our go to for budget-friendly, no-frills Mexican eats - for me, it's all about the salsa, refried beans and rice. This spot reminds me a lot of the Mexican eateries I grew up on in rural Indiana. Fast and delicious. For this round, we called in our order and the food was ready in 20 minutes. I opted for the #4 (like I said, I was craving unhealthy) which consists of an enchilada, taco, tamale and rice and beans. My dining companion ordered the guacaflauta (fried little tortillas wrapped around chicken and all topped with a generous serving of guac). We never leave La Parada without an order of the chips and salsa. I could drink that stuff... Overall, a lovely experience that hit the spot. A secret gem located 5 minutes away from the heart of downtown Indy. The place was packed for their lunch crowd during the week but we got lucky and snagged a booth. I would say this is probably the most authentic Mexican cuisine I have found within a near radius of downtown. Service was great and the food was even better. Everything came out hot and fresh and the chips and salsa were always full. This is a great local spot to check out if you're looking for good Mexican food. I was craving for some authentic Mexican food today and wanted to give this a try since I saw a lot of good reviews! The customer service is really friendly, the restaurant is very clean and welcoming, but the food could've been better. The chicken burrito had no flavor and was dry. The pozole (pork) was lukewarm and had no taste; I had to add a lot of salt in order to get more flavor out of the soup. The tostada chip that came with the order tasted hard and stale. The complimentary chip and salsa was okay; the salsa was very watered down with no flavor and no kick at all. They had a lot of other things on the menu like their combo plates for tamales, tacos and etc maybe I'll stop by again to give it another chance. I am excited to finally write a review for one of my all-time favorite Mexican restaurants! I started going there in August during lunchtime because I was working at the local high school. From the first time I tried it, I was obsessed! I work at a different school now, and I swear the part I miss the most is going to La Parada for lunch! This past Monday, I went to La Parada with two of my friends. One had already been there, but it was my other friend's first time! We were seated immediately, and a VERY high-energy server named Edgar greeted us right away. As someone who used to serve, I understand how dealing with people all day can be draining, so I admire how high-energy and comical he was. I am sure it would not be everyone's cup of tea, but we didn't mind! The chips and salsa were brought out soon after which is my personal heaven. I have always considered chips and salsa to be my favorite food, so going to a Mexican restaurant and getting to eat fresh tortilla chips with homemade salsa is like paradise. Their chips are especially delicious. I can't describe it, but something about them is different. I think they may be more golden than the typical tortilla chip, but they're still thin and somewhat light. The salsa is refreshing, and I love when there are small pieces of peppers and onion to add a bite to the salsa. One of my friends ordered some esquites to share with the table, which was super tasty. It's one of those foods that you *know* are unhealthy, but it's so good that you just don't care. The corn was perfectly cooked. It was warm, but not try. There were globs of mayo, the perfect amount of lime juice, and cotija cheese, and it was topped off by tajin to bring it all together. For my main, I got my usual #20: Two Enchiladas Verdes with beans and rice. This dish is seriously a superstar. I know it's basic to get enchiladas at a Mexican restaurant, but it's so good here that I just can't stop ordering it. The chicken is perfectly cooked, and I really like that they use flour tortillas for their enchiladas instead of the typical corn. However, the real start of the show is the salsa verde that covers the dish. This is the BEST salsa verde I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It's the gold standard in my eyes. I love it so much that I always ask for a bottle to add more to the beans and rice. There is sour cream adds a little extra creaminess and the lettuce on top adds a good crunch. The inside of the restaurant feels so welcoming. I've never had a server that I did not like. I will definitely be continuing to go there, but hopefully, I'll branch out and try more things in the future! read more

We ordered carry out for lunch at work. It was a pretty easy process to order. Food was ready within 15-20 minutes. When I walked in, there was a very large group of about 25 men sitting at one large table. It was very hard to maneuver around to get to the register. We ordered the Chimichanga, Taco Salad, and Crunch Wrap. We all loved our food! I wish they had a lunch special because the portions were huge. None of us could finish it all. Before I dive into the food portion, I'll cover the atmosphere and customer service. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating and everyone who worked there seemed to be in a good mood though they seemed slightly understaffed. I sat outside and it was such a chill space. Also, menu is HUGE. Michelada - delicious mix with a nice smoky touch and generous portion. Salsa- too easy to finish (but not much of a kick for spice lovers) Al pastor tacos the best al pastor (pineapple marinated pork) I've had in Indy yet, so flavorful. Rajas con quesos tacos- these are sliced peppers and cheese. I asked for them without the cheese and it might have been my favorite. It was the perfect spicy/sour combo for me. Definitely a good option. Cabeza (cheek meat) -not as chunky as I'm used to, it's more shredded but still delicious and tender and bomb especially with chopped onions. Beware though, it's heavy! 7 seas soup- damn this is a huge bowl of seafood, with a tomato base of some sort. Hearty and full of seafood. Not sure if it's fresh seafood so don't ask me, I just know it tastes bomb. Especially with the onions + chiles they give you on the side. Chilaquiles- the family chilaquiles lover didn't love these chilaquiles. The green salsa was a little too bright for their taste but the carne asada and eggs were yummy. Tragically, it was in the confines of La Parada restaurant on East New York Street in Indianapolis that I encountered the harsh realities of the world, much like the characters in my novels. But despite the tragedy, I was nonetheless drawn to this establishment, where I was to experience a feast both for the senses and for the mind. The decor of the restaurant was nothing short of grandiose, a true spectacle for the eyes, with its vibrant colors, intricate patterns and bold accents. The walls were adorned with Mexican paintings and sculptures, each one telling a story of the rich culture of Mexico. The atmosphere was electric, pulsating with the sounds of lively chatter and the sizzling of pans. But as I delved deeper into the heart of this establishment, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disdain for the authority that had brought us here, to this place where we were forced to partake in this consumerist spectacle. Yet, despite my distrust, I was nonetheless drawn to the delicious fragrance of the food that wafted through the air, beckoning me to partake. I ordered the Chimichanga, and as I bit into it, I was transported to a world of flavors, a symphony of spices and textures that danced upon my tongue. And as I savored each bite, I was reminded of a quote from my own writing: "The world is a labyrinth of complexities, much like the flavors in a Chimichanga." And as I sat there, lost in thought, I was approached by a waitress, a beacon of light in the darkness. She challenged my views on society, with her wisdom and insight, and for a moment, I was enamored by her. She spoke of a world where people were free, where they could be who they truly were, without the constraints of society. And as I looked into her eyes, I saw a glimmer of hope, a glimmer of a better world. The chips and salsa were a delicious accompaniment to the Chimichanga, with the crunch of the chips and the tanginess of the salsa providing a delightful contrast to the main dish. The salsa, much like life, was a mixture of sweet and spicy, with each bite leaving a lingering aftertaste. And as I munched on the chips and salsa, I couldn't help but reflect on the complexities of existence, much like the complexities of the flavors in the salsa. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I assign a rating to this restaurant. I cannot help but award it a perfect five stars, for its food, its atmosphere, and its staff. The Chimichanga was a masterpiece, the chips and salsa a delightful surprise, and the waitress, a ray of hope in a world of darkness. In the words of one of my novels, "The beauty of life lies in its imperfections, in its flaws and its complexities." I love La Parada especially their elote. This spot is always busy but their service never fails me. When you walk in someone will seat you right away, grab your drinks, and bring you chips and salsa (which is amazing). They are one of the few Mexican restaurants that actually recognize the vegetarian community in their menu. The food is always consistently good and comes out fast. If you go please try the elote. Kept driving past this place on my way home and finally decided to check it out last night. Great service! Our waiter was hilarious and overall really fun. We really liked our food too. Chips and salsa were great, we got queso as well. I had the Burrito Bandera without sour cream and really enjoyed it! It's huge!! I only could eat 1/3 of it and am excited to heat up the left overs today. I like that they put jalapeños in it as well. My boyfriend enjoyed his tamales too. He got chicken - one red, two white. We traveled to Indiana last weekend when my son participated in the Nike XC Regionals. We stayed at an Airbnb in town and stumbled up this restaurant. I looked a the website and I was excited to know that they had cabeza and lengua on the menu, so we had to stop in! This was some of the best Mexican food we have had in a really long time! With tax, just under $100 at La Parada. This isn't an upscale restaurant. One of the dinners was just two tacos. The issue is the drink prices. They are charging cruise ship prices for margaritas that they are literally pouring out of a jug. The food is good Tex-Mex, not great. The prices are insane. read more
