I love a good patio and Black Circle fits the bill! They have a huge lawn area with 6 (ish) picnic tables and several high top chairs on the patio. Lots of people land here after riding their bicycles so you can anticipate a big crowd of people just hanging out drinking brews post ride. It is just the perfect spot to do just that! Have to share that Black Circle hosts a comedy show every Sunday night. They start any time between 8-830p. I laughed LOUD and HARD during the show. Seriously funny. Where do they even find so many comedians around? The stage is set up outside so you can bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy FREE entertainment. Also, twinkle lights. They had me at twinkle lights. I had such a great time last week and will be back soon!

Took us a while but we finally came here to check out the beer! It was a Sunday and they were having a market outside which was so cool...lots of good local vendors. Inside there are lots of games with pinball and movies on as well. Dazed and confused was playing while we were there, huge bonus, and they were playing great music. The beer was so tasty, we both loved the pale ale. Staff was super friendly and laid back. Overall great brewery, can't wait to go back.

What a blast from the past. This place had me feeling a sorts of nostalgic. I didn't go when they had a show or anything, just to grab a beer and hang. They have an entire wall of vinyl and they are constantly rotating the music selection that comes directly from the record player. There is also a wall full of VHS and this is what is played onto the TV screens around the bar. They prop up the old movie that's on on top of this 8 inch tint VHS player/TV combo. There was also a variety of old toys and just general nostalgia. Finally- I think the pinball here is the closest that exists now to the broad ripple area. They had 3 machines running (guns n roses, iron maiden mummy and one other I can't recall) and the Simpsons machine was down for the count. Beer was also good! I tried 2 different goses and they hit the spot. Husband gave good reviews on the "Baby Oata" too

Does the air conditioning work or not? Who cares, because you are having way too much fun listening to some blazin' live music and drinking some amazing craft beer! I love BC; it's what I think of when someone says, "dive"...and I mean that in the most endearing way! Vintage pinball machines surround the tables, and there's a nice big bar to saddle up to. Elena Ruz is also on site and features some ridiculously good Cuban food, if you get hungry. I met a group of friends here to see a fab ska performance by Lisa Frank and the Trapper Keepers...they even had a brass section for part of the set! Despite the cheesy 90's name reference, this band rocked. So happy BC is close to home. It's my new fav hangout!

First Black Circle Market of the year and we loved it! It will run from March to November the last Sunday of each month. Tons of artists, crafters, collectors and some food options. Parking is a bit tough but this market is totally worth it. We stopped in for some brews inside too and great selection!

First timer visiting on a Sunday evening without much fuss. Thank goodness they had a small sign to point from off the main road (46th St) otherwise i definitely would have missed the turn. Ample free parking in their lot. Outdoor seating /space available but it's cold now so i doubt it'll see much use currently. Walking inside i felt like i was taken back to the 80's. Record player playing, pinball machines glowing, and a mature crowd. Order at the bar, grab your number, then find a seat at the bar or the tables. There were several featured brews i wasn't familiar with and are listed on their website if you wanted to research in advance. I had not but luckily the bartender was helpful and provided me a few samples. Had my first gose (like a sour... super sour for me). I happily ended up with an imperial stout (threat level coconut. Oh yeah, it was my jam). I would love to try the cafe sometime but it was closed that day. Menu had both meat and veggie options with a Latin cuisine vibe. I really liked my rice bowl because it was flavorful... sorry the name escapes me, it's only served on Sat and Sun though. However, my friend had the Medianoche Sliders and it shockingly fell bland when compared to the description. Overall i was pleasently surprised with the culinary level of the place. I didn't get to play the pinball machines but there are plenty to go around. Neat place. I dig it (not the sign as much though. Looks like it's from the movie The Ring, which was THE movie that scared me off from all future scary movies. Seriously terrifying, the Ring that is.)

Went for their outdoor film event and it was good! One can bring their picnic blanket or outdoor chairs to the event to watch a horror film from back in the day. One has to order drinks from inside the building and close tabs to go outside. The outdoor space is large enough for picnics and they do have tables and benches for outdoor drinking. The only down side was that there were a large number not wearing their masks and at one point some lady was promoting their business without wearing a mask with us. We freaked out a bit. Other than that the staff were super nice and accommodating. They were wearing their masks at all times. Due to the weather, we did not finish the film for it started raining. I look forward to checking this place out again and going to their Drag Night events!

We asked for a neighborhood brewery, and Black Circle answered. We asked for all-around solid beers, and Black Circle answered. We asked for other tasty guest beers, and Black Circle answered. We asked for an inviting spot, and Black Circle answered. We asked for live music, and Black Circle answered. We asked for a patio, and Black Circle answered. We asked for food next door, and Black Circle answered. ...thanks for giving us what we needed, Black Circle. Don't ever change!

When you lose both of your credit cards and go to the place you were last & find them both there!

The short and sweet: amazing chill crew, great cider and craft beers on draft and local features on rotation as well as a bottled selection, live music, movie nights, art shows, spinning vinyl, video games & pinball, fresh air and a great patio space. I'm thrilled to see my neighborhood, South Broad Ripple, evolve into THE place to be. It didn't take long for the word to get out about this hot local spot, somewhat hidden back in the former Double 8 building just over the tracks from CVS on 46th Street. Proactive since their opening, the attractive new signage shows their commitment to the community. Parking is plentiful and seemingly safe and well lit. They've partnered with www.elenaruzindy.com to offer some of the best authentic Cuban food in Indy. With ample portions, you can't go wrong ordering their empanadas. Their Cubano sandwich is worth the trip alone. Paired with mariquitas (ribboned plantain chips with garlic aioli), mmmm, you'd better get your own! Pop in on a lazy Sunday for brunch, a champagne cocktail or featuring heavenly java from Circadian coffee, another partner business. In its short lifespan, The Black Circle has become known as the new metal show venue. The clientele varies and isn't limited to any particular demographic, though you'll certainly see all ages and walks of life. Their expansion of a 'kid friendly indoor zone' next door, adding to the all ages patio, also open to your fur babies. I can't find a reason not to love this place (except maybe the screaming babies at the kids space opening, kind of nuts, but its not always all about me). Suggestions: they could use a few more picnic tables towards the back of the patio and designate it as non smoking. Other added touches would be a volleyball net, horseshoes, corn hole in the grassy area, some board games to keep kids (or kids at heart) entertained. As a joint ventured space, the lawn is a great asset to have.

I've only eaten here once. I have drank quite a few beers here but now I don't drink. I still come to this bar all the time though because they are doing God's work, hosting shows for Indy's heavy metal music community. And for that reason alone I would like to express my eternal gratitude. Without y'all Indy would suck, and suck hard. I would especially like to thank Black Circle for its patio concerts during the pandemic. You saved my sanity. For those of you who aren't heavy metal fans, there's plenty going on here besides metal, too. Drag Bingo. Pinball. VHS clubs. Other great music. And of course, a welcoming-to-all, friendly neighborhood watering hole. Come have a pint.

I was invited to lunch at Black Circle by a colleague and didn't know exactly what to expect. I have driven by here numerous times and apparently not paid attention. The bartender was very nice and greeted me upon entering. Seating was open and everyone orders directly from the bar. I had the rice and beans. There were not many options on the menu for those with dietary restrictions, especially gluten free. If there were I would gladly give another star. I cannot speak to their drinks as I only consumed water.

Black Circle is my very favorite venue in Indianapolis, both as a performer and as a fan, and this is for many reasons. The atmosphere is appealing and welcoming to anyone and everyone. People who like heavy metal in particular can really find a home here, but so can anyone else. There is lots to enjoy, from awesome live bands to awesome vinyl records spinning to pinball machines lining the walls. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and they actually make an effort to get to know the regulars. The food they serve from Elena Ruz next door is all excellent. Try some of the sandwiches and empanadas next time you are in - there is almost always a special empanada going and they are always good. As a member of a local Indianapolis heavy metal band, playing shows here is always a delight. The sound is always run well, they are easy to work with, and we usually have a decent turnout here. This translates to the attendees having a good time, because there are always great bands coming who are excited to play on that stage.

We got there early and were able to have some drinks and food, including the nachos. Man, I was not expecting BBQ sauce and like a mustardy sauce and cheese and it was flavor exploding, loved it. With the event we had catered pork/chicken as well as sides. Everything was great, the peppercorn dressing for the salad was so amazing, I would definitely think of a salad here in the future. The venue inside the space, with the car, is quaint with seating and you get to see everything happening outside the space as well. This last time, we were in the original Guggman Haus brewing building that houses the coffee. This is adorable! We had service the entire time, including a bartender and the beer. They made everything super easy and I would consider this space for a baby shower, bridal shower, etc. We had 25 people and it fit wonderfully. There is also outside space for overflow, so it makes it very reasonable. Now onto the beer! I had the IPA Riverside, very hazy with a great flavor. Then I went off the rocker and ordered some prickly pear drink, I was not expecting how good that was! Refreshing and light, easy to drink (probably too easy) and the flavor was perfect! Try it if you are there, it is a newer option. The appreciation was lost upon the Romans, and eventually the Romans would be besieged by Vandals, internal disarray, and be the subject of modern day bro-influenced discussion. It is felt that the American independent/microbrewery beer experience birthed in the 1970's with companies like Boston Beer Co (Sam Adams). Companies that eventually no longer were microbreweries, adjusting their profile to fit the palate of the masses. How about we deviate from that approach? Be local, serve local. Taste profiles that don't exist solely in the figment of our imagination. I found a place like that today, not far from home. Settled in a shopping plaza next to a paint store, Deviate offers twelve brews on tap and can pour others. This is not a place to have a Galentine's Day dinner. This is a place to drink beer and let the conversation flow by itself. A place where board games and popcorn are complementary. BYO (PF). Bring your own pets and food- we brought our dog, and he was well welcomed. Finally a brewery here that allows dogs. I had the Twinning lager, and it was quite nice. 5.1 oz. Also $5 for a 16 oz. Pretty epic. For those who are Browns fans- this is a Bengals spot. Who dey likes this place? I do. Come back for the vibes and more.

I'm big into craft beer and regularly partake in a robust craft beer community where I live. And I have to say, this brewery is the type of brewery that I love. It seems like they do more of the stouts (pastry and barrel aged, etc.) which is right up my alley. They have a good variety of other styles here as well. Since I was driving, I was only able to get a few small pours, but if I had more time and/or lived in the area, this is probably a brewery that I would frequent. The place itself is pretty large and has fun decor. There's games you can play including pinball machines and you can probably bring in your own board games here. There's also a popcorn machine, which is always a plus in my book. The place is very dog friendly and the folks here seem very friendly and helpful.
