La Parrilla on Hart has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for quite some time, and it's high time I told others about it. It is located in a strip mall on Hart, which we can get to literally by rolling down the hill from our home on Cooper Mountain. It looks like one of those hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants, of which Oregon has plenty, and it is. But the food... Oh man, the food! It is so good! My wife and I have our favorite dishes (she likes birria tacos, I love the wet carnitas burrito), and when we have company in town, we always manage to introduce them to the flavors of La Parrilla! Last night was no excpeption, although this time was a first for us. We went in and got a table. It's a small place with a bar and a few tables, but we got seated and ordered our food. Service is always friendly, delivered witha smile, whether you are picking up food to go (our usual method) or not. Because we were eating in, my buddy and I both got margaritas. Damn, they were good! Flavorful, nicely iced, and yes, you could taste the tequila (they offer several choices)! This was a very pleasant surprise and makes me think of eating in there again soon. The chips and salsa were wonderful. And yes, it's all home-made. My friend, who is visiting from out of town, said it was the best salsa he's ever had. It was dark, spicy, smoky, and just yummy! Oh, and don't forget the red and green sauces that they also make themselves! The red will light your fire and the green will add personality to any dish you put it on. I was hungry and feeling adventurous today when I got home from work. Browsing Yelp I came upon all the good reviews for La Parilla. I ordered their cheese enchiladas plate and a side order of guacamole. The cheese enchiladas came with a red sauce, rice and beans. The slices of avocado on top were not ripe and totally inedible. The food was pretty bland and lacking in flavor. The side of guacamole (4.75) was about 2 spoonfuls of guacamole topped with salsa. Not worth the price. IMHO, there is much tastier mexican food available around here ( Allan's is my fave). Feeling adventurous doesnt always end well.... read more

Very rude when I walked in during their normal hours of operation today at 7:00 PM when they shouted, "We're closed!" Clearly the door was not locked for a business that said online, was open.... For a business with good reviews, and for someone who has never been here before, this first encounter was not a good impression. We've been coming here for a number of years, and they remain one of our favorites in the area. They offer both dine-in and to-go for their entire menu, and if you're eating in, they actually have a solid selection of beer and mixed drinks (the margaritas and micheladas are great!). The staff is always friendly, and the food is consistently flavorful. This time around, I ordered the Carne Asada Taco Salad. It was a great size, the meat was well-seasoned, and it came in a perfectly crispy tortilla bowl. One tip for regulars or newcomers: beyond their fixed menu, they always have a rotating specials board right next to the counter. I've dined in and ordered out from here several times. It is by far my favorite authentic Mexican food in the area. They keep it simple yet tasty. I ordered the carne asada taco plate. It was the perfect portion for one person. The meal was ready for pickup in less than 15 minutes. Service was quick and kind. There is plenty of seating available and several people dining in. We normally order from Uber Eats so I can't speak to the ambiance and the actual restaurant it's self but the FOOD IS SOOO GOOD! Uber Eats says they are Black Owned as well and they deserve their recognition for their food and especially their red salsa. I never use red salsa in my food but something about theirs is so so good! I always ask for extra but definitely be careful because it is spicy. Overpriced for what it was but the service was great and everything came out quickly. Shrimp was great and beef was good but I wasn't crazy about the dry chicken. I will go back but probably won't order the fajitas again. The rest of our party got tacos and tortas which seemed to be better for the price. We had tacos and mole enchiladas, both quite tasty. The tortilla chips were obviously fresh-made, as well as the three salsas. This place is a comfortable atmosphere for families. We noticed that all of the delivery services stop here. Mexican music is playing. I bet breakfast is terrific here, server 7 days a week. We'll be back. read more

I ordered the two tamale (pork) plate with red and green salsa for everyone (orders for 5 people). What I got was one pork and one chicken with a pinch of meat in each (90% masa). Pretty consistent good Mexican food. We love that they are so close to home and open later than other places in the area. Its always great to grab a breakfast burrito any time of day. I love that I can order online and drive right over for pick up. If I'm in the area I just pop right in and order, the food is ready in no time. I've had take out from here twice now and have been super impressed both times. I've ordered the Oregon Burrito both times and the consistency has been impressive. The asada was tender, well seasoned is full of flavor and the potatoes are well cooked. The fresh pica de gallo and queso were perfect accompaniments. I just had a feeling I was going to love this little place and have had it bookmarked for months. Some things got in the way of me going ( cancer, chemo, covid, life, its out of the way location). But not this time. On a sunny Saturday we got a late start and called in breakfast burritos and churros. The woman on the phone was lovely and asked what kind of salsa we wanted- red, green, or both? BOTH!!!! She said it would be ready in twenty minutes. The place was hopping and a stream of men in work clothes, many Latino, were coming out with brown paper bags, ducking into Plaid Pantry next door, coming outta there with beer, and hopping into their trucks. A good sign. Minion and I got there in 15 min and the food was ready when he went in. We took our food to a nearby park. It was so crazy good. Piping hot, flavorful, well constructed where when you take a bite you get all the things unlike some burtitos where ingredients are not evenly distributed. I hate it when that happens. His had bacon, mine had ham, and we were both satisfied. Both salsas were great. The churros were also good, a little wet in the middle. Not honestly sure if they were a bit raw but I convinced minion they were not. They were otherwise crispy, sweet, and cinnamony like churros oughta be. All in all a pretty perfect brunch. Excited to find a Mexican place that's pretty on par with the best ones we have in the Bay Area! When I saw that there is a taco Oregon, I had to order it haha. It was a taco with grilled onions and potato, guac and a little cheese. I think the balance of the ingredients was good! That aside, both the el patron and Oregon had a different type of steak from the normal Asada meat. It was in strips and because it was thin, it was a little over cooked. The asada strips had good flavor though! But I do preferred the asada in the asada taco more because the meat was thicker and slightly juicier. The pastor was not charred a lot so the pineapples were still tangy and very tasty. The salsa comes in squeeze bottles, which I love. There are two types of salsa, one orange one that is super hot and smokey. The salsa verde is good but not too special, slightly spicy. Both taste great! Overall, I highly recommend La Parilla! They have a wide selection including fish, shrimp for people who prefers seafood. read more
