The chips were good and the guac was a nice size and was really fresh. The fajitas were great. The chicken was flavorful with lots of veggies. They also remember to leave off the cheese and sour cream as I requested. The shrimp dish was also really good. The beans and rice were well seasoned and tasty. I was stuck at home recently recovering from a minor surgical procedure and felt like some Mexican food. I found this place on DoorDash and ordered some chimichangas so I could check it out. Personally, I wasn't super impressed. Everything was OK, but didn't really have a whole lot of flavor for what I would expect from a Mexican place, and the chips were extra greasy. I've ordered steak and rice bowls with vegetables at many Mexican restaurants, which typically cost around $20-$22 all-in. When my check arrived here, it came out to $36 for a single bowl. When I checked the itemized receipt, I realized why: The $16.99 menu base for the bowl already includes vegetables, but they unbundled them and charged an extra $5.99 for vegetables. Instead of charging the standard $3 protein upgrade, they billed the steak as an a la carte side of steak for $4.99. Tacking on tax and an automatic gratuity brought a standard $20 meal to $36. When I calmly brought this up to the manager and explained that I was charged extra for ingredients that were already supposed to be included in the bowl, he refused to listen or adjust the ticket. Instead of correcting the clear billing error or handling the situation professionally, he was dismissive, told me to "cough it up," and became belligerent. I was willing to pay a fair price ($25) for what I actually ordered based on the menu, but management refused to fix the inflated charges. Extremely disappointing customer service and deceptive billing practices. I will not be returning. Wanted that 10$ so bad, that he lost a repeat customer and his family. read more

This is my favorite Mexican spot with authentic food in this area so I decided to hold a farewell for one of our military members here. I was impressed before with the food and customer service when it's just me and my husband, but this time we had 20 people. Let me tell you, it was the best large party experience I've had at a restaurant! We had two waiters taking orders, all our food came out at the same time, and all of our checks were separated and ready to go by the time we were ready to pay. I decided to meet some friends for dinner at La Parrilla Mexican Grill when we walked in we were greeted by some wonderful smiling faces. They welcome us and they were able to see us right away. The waitress came and she took our drink orders and offered us some chips and dip. The chips and dip were excellent and freshly made. While she was getting our drinks, we decided on what food items we wanted. We decided on quesadillas and on Pollo Popeyes. The food came out, super quick and piping hot. It has now been several days since this incident, and despite attempting to contact the restaurant through Instagram and email, I still have not received any response from management. My party of three spent over $300 dining here. Before briefly stepping away to the restroom, we asked our waitress to watch our table and bring us a to-go bag, and he agreed. When we returned, our food had been thrown away without permission. The manager refused to resolve the issue, was dismissive and unprofessional, laughed with coworkers, and escalated the situation by calling the police instead of handling a customer service matter appropriately. What made the situation even worse was that staff later retrieved our to-go container from the trash and attempted to hand it back to us, which raised serious health concerns. At this point, I have filed a formal complaint with the Virginia Attorney General's Office due to the lack of response and handling of the situation. read more

I will never go here again! They have over charged me twice now. I let them go after a few years the last time and I still went back like a dummy and they did it again. The first time I'm not gonna go into... But this time I literally ordered a regular lunch entrée, but I was honestly testing them to see what they would do.... AND of course they tried to act like nothing was wrong when handing me the receipt for the full entrée price and not the lunch price. For Hampton, the food isn't bad. There is plenty of seating and the decor is your typical Mexican restaurant. My food wasn't bland like the rest of the restaurants in Hampton VA area. We stopped by here on a long drive from NC to DC, and it was a great lunch experience. It has the feel of a larger American Mexican restaurant with plenty of space, fun decor, a big bar, all the chips and salsa you can chow down, and very friendly and helpful staff. When people of their culture entered they seemed to treat them like family. But other cultures i.e. AA they were rather snotty and sneaky. It had chicken, shrimp, tomatoes, mushroom, pico, and cheese over lettuce, and a side of black beans. The beans weren't as tender as I'm used to, so I added them to my salad. The only thing the salad was missing was a heartier lettuce, but most Mexican restaurants serve iceberg lettuce. The server was nice. We went after a sporting event at the convention center with a party of 35 and several checks around 7pm on a Saturday night. They sat us in a timely manner. I brought my family here last night for my son's birthday dinner and regret it so much. The host seemed lovely and walked us to a 6 seat table towards the back where I found a dead cockroach on my seat. My anxiety kicked in but because my son had picked this place I set my emotions aside and reassured everyone it was a common thing in Hampton, they're everywhere I hear. I showed the host and I saw the look on her face turn to horror so I found that comforting. Until she rushed another girl over to show her and ask her what to do, that other girl just tipped the chair to let it fall to the floor and she just giggled and shrugged her shoulders. This is a great little place to grab a meal with friends and family...for so many reasons. First off, it is a very simple, but cute restaurant. Lots of color and ambiance. It has a very casual vibe. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are large. The food is simple and traditional but yummy and they have lots of options to choose from. We ordered 3 or 4 meals and an appetizer and everyone liked everything. They also have great drinks; I had the "Trash Can" pictured.
