This is my favorite Mexican spot with authentic food in this area so I decided to hold a farewell for one of our military members here. I was impressed before with the food and customer service when it's just me and my husband, but this time we had 20 people. Let me tell you, it was the best large party experience I've had at a restaurant! We had two waiters taking orders, all our food came out at the same time, and all of our checks were separated and ready to go by the time we were ready to pay. Went for a work lunch and got the Degollado Special with steak. The steak was a little overcooked but the flavor of the overall dish was on point and the portions were HUGE! It has now been several days since this incident, and despite attempting to contact the restaurant through Instagram and email, I still have not received any response from management. My party of three spent over $300 dining here. Before briefly stepping away to the restroom, we asked our waitress to watch our table and bring us a to-go bag, and he agreed. When we returned, our food had been thrown away without permission. The manager refused to resolve the issue, was dismissive and unprofessional, laughed with coworkers, and escalated the situation by calling the police instead of handling a customer service matter appropriately. What made the situation even worse was that staff later retrieved our to-go container from the trash and attempted to hand it back to us, which raised serious health concerns. At this point, I have filed a formal complaint with the Virginia Attorney General's Office due to the lack of response and handling of the situation. read more

I decided to meet some friends for dinner at La Parrilla Mexican Grill when we walked in we were greeted by some wonderful smiling faces. They welcome us and they were able to see us right away. The waitress came and she took our drink orders and offered us some chips and dip. The chips and dip were excellent and freshly made. While she was getting our drinks, we decided on what food items we wanted. We decided on quesadillas and on Pollo Popeyes. The food came out, super quick and piping hot. The place was immaculately Clean and we really enjoyed ourselves. If you're in the area, please make time to stop by and enjoy some food here. only down side I would say is price is high at first sight. However, DONT I mean DONT let that fool you.. this food and place is by far the BEST food, I have had and Worth every dollar. The staff is friendly and approachable. Not to mention the server gave ample time for ordering and even did an exceptional job anticipating the needs of our party. my only regret is I wish I could have given a bigger tip. I will never go here again! They have over charged me twice now. I let them go after a few years the last time and I still went back like a dummy and they did it again. The first time I'm not gonna go into... But this time I literally ordered a regular lunch entrée, but I was honestly testing them to see what they would do.... AND of course they tried to act like nothing was wrong when handing me the receipt for the full entrée price and not the lunch price. They literally want/expect you to pay the most for mediocre Mexican! This restaurant right here literally does anything to scrape by and make their dime. I paid $6 for sauce to later discover that sauce did actually come with the order. They were young but had a goofy energy and then started speaking Spanish to each other. For Hampton, the food isn't bad. There is plenty of seating and the decor is your typical Mexican restaurant. My food wasn't bland like the rest of the restaurants in Hampton VA area. No one in my table complained about their food; however, no one raved about it. The portions were big, enough leftovers for lunch the next day. We stopped by here on a long drive from NC to DC, and it was a great lunch experience. It has the feel of a larger American Mexican restaurant with plenty of space, fun decor, a big bar, all the chips and salsa you can chow down, and very friendly and helpful staff. I love this place! Me and my family go here all the time. They have great vegan options for when we are fasting for religious reasons. They also have great chips and nachos. I went here the other day when I needed to grab a quick meal. I didn't want anything too heavy, and no rice - I'm limiting my carbs (wink, wink). I got the La Parrilla salad which was good. It had chicken, shrimp, tomatoes, mushroom, pico, and cheese over lettuce, and a side of black beans. The beans weren't as tender as I'm used to, so I added them to my salad. The only thing the salad was missing was a heartier lettuce, but most Mexican restaurants serve iceberg lettuce. The server was nice. It did take awhile to get the food, which is odd for a Mexican restaurant. They have lots of seating, and accommodate larger groups. Good food and good service - I'd go back! read more

We went after a sporting event at the convention center with a party of 35 and several checks around 7pm on a Saturday night. They sat us in a timely manner. I brought my family here last night for my son's birthday dinner and regret it so much. The host seemed lovely and walked us to a 6 seat table towards the back where I found a dead cockroach on my seat. My anxiety kicked in but because my son had picked this place I set my emotions aside and reassured everyone it was a common thing in Hampton, they're everywhere I hear. I showed the host and I saw the look on her face turn to horror so I found that comforting. Until she rushed another girl over to show her and ask her what to do, that other girl just tipped the chair to let it fall to the floor and she just giggled and shrugged her shoulders. This is a great little place to grab a meal with friends and family...for so many reasons. First off, it is a very simple, but cute restaurant. Lots of color and ambiance. It has a very casual vibe. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are large. The food is simple and traditional but yummy and they have lots of options to choose from. We ordered 3 or 4 meals and an appetizer and everyone liked everything. They also have great drinks; I had the "Trash Can" pictured. The service was excellent we were seated right away, and the waiter was very attentive. The menu itself had a lot of choices, a lot different than other places I've been. I got a chicken and shrimp dish and let me tell you, you get tons of food for the money! My plate was absolutely delicious! My husband got a steak dish and he loved it. They do have a decent little kids menu as well. Their pricing is great in comparison to Plaza. The inside and outside of the restaurant is super nice, and it's really clean inside.
