As a neighborhood pup, every dog needs a reliable local restaurant, and La Pecora Bianca is one of mine. We've visited the Upper East Side location many times, and the staff has always been incredibly welcoming. Even though there isn't outdoor seating, I've always been allowed inside in my carrier. They usually seat us along one of the bench seats against the wall so I can settle in comfortably while my humans enjoy their meal. The restaurant feels like two different spaces. The front dining area surrounds the bar and has a lively neighborhood energy, while the back room feels brighter and more relaxed thanks to the skylight overhead. It almost has the feel of an indoor garden. My human always orders the Branzino, which comes in a rich lemon cream sauce with sautéed spinach. She claims it's one of her favorite dishes on the Upper East Side and orders it nearly every visit. Dad is a fan of the Spaghetti Bolognese, or the steak and somehow his plate is always completely empty by the end of the meal. As for me, I stick with my usual order: a side of grilled chicken. Simple, reliable, and exactly what a growing travel pup needs. Popped in here late on a Saturday night. No reservation and was able to be seated in a few minutes. Host and waiter were very nice and helpful. Ambiance was quiet but chic. All ages present. A little quieter than normal as we showed up later in the night and things were winding down. So, like the many reviews from others...the customer service was horrible. But the food is literally where this place shines. Everything I had was cooked well and made with intense flavor. Also, I'd like to highlight the servers. Because the two men who served my appetizer and meal were attentive, well-mannered and smiled. They made my experience special. Sadly, I can't say the same for the hostess and bartender. They weren't personable or friendly towards me. Which I'm sharing here because they might exude other characteristics to others. But I believe that you should seat someone by walking them over whether you are at the bar or a High table. As far as the bartender, he poured my tap water and left it a far distance from my actual end seat. I had to ask him to push it over to where I was actually seated. When ordering my dishes, he never asked follow-up questions or gave recommendations or asked if it was my first time. It was literally, "I'll put that in". Anywho, let's dive into this food. I ordered the Fried Zucchini and Gramigna. Both were absolutely delicious and let me tell you why. The appetizer was fried to my exact liking which was crispier on most pieces and a crunch to every single bite. The dipping sauce was red and served warm. Ughhhhh!!!!! I'd love to order that to go again. The pasta dish looked as though it was plain, but baby!!!!! It was packed with flavor. The punch came from the fresh Parmesan cheese shredded on top. My God! Stopped by La Pecora Bianca for happy hour with a very large party so this may not be the most representative review. The weather was great so my party of 9-10 people asked to sit outside. The manager was able to help us get seated by combining several tables. Staff were polite but wasn't that friendly - not sure if they were frustrated with our big party. We had to ask the busser twice to order additional drinks since our server wasn't available. The regular fries were tasty when they were fresh and warm. The zucchini fries were coated with a very thick batter so you could barely tell its zucchini. It almost just felt like eating fried batter. The place is lovely. The menu is a little strange, somehow. Dishes have one ingredient that is either discordant (pickled raisins) or used either too sparingly or too enthusiastically. No lemon flavor in the lemon shrimp with pasta, and way too heavy on chili flakes. Service was somewhat inattentive--we never got bread, and it took a long time for a second glass of wine, but the staff was very nice and personable. Tiramisu is a standout! So darn cute with the sheep outlined in cocoa powder. Would return. read more

Gathered with friends for a post-Christmas dinner and enjoyed a pleasant meal. This is one of several locations in the city, and seems pretty popular for their Italian specialties and brunch items. The day after Christmas, at 6:30pm restaurant was about 75% full. We had reservations and they were able to seat the first arrivals first, and I appreciated that they didn't rush us to order when one member of our party was delayed 30 minutes. We ordered: - Local Burrata with honey-poached apple, hazelnut, charred radicchio, saba $19 - Cauliflower with pickled raisins, toasted pine nuts, calabrian aioli $17 - Crispy Brussels Sprouts with rosemary honey, lemon, chili flakes $12 - Side of herb fries $8? Not on the menu though they kindly accommodated since herb fries usually come with the LPB burger - Spaghetti pomodoro $23 - Tagliatelle with beef and pork bolognese $27 x2 - Garganelli with roasted wild mushrooms, arugula pesto, pecorino $26 - Gramigna with house-made sausage, broccolini, chili flakes $27 - Branzino with spinach, olives, meyer lemon $34 - Chicken Parmesan vodka sauce, rigatoni $34 - Heritage Pork Chop with sweet & sour peppers, fingerling potatoes $29 I didn't try all the dishes though I will say the pasta was perfectly al dente for the tagiatelle and just very slight over for the garganelli. The gramigna is a classic here and prepared consistently and well according to my friend who's eaten this several times here. The burrata was very fresh and pillowy. The brussel sprouts were savory, flavorful and crispy on the edges. The chicken parm was a huge serving, easily could be shared between two people. Branzino and pork chopped were cooked well, the pork chop was particularly large--serving sizes are good and respectable for the prices. For dessert the olive oil cake $12 was a hit, the tiramisu $18 was textbook though the chocolate hazelnut budino $12 was a bit underwhelming. It was basically a rich chocolate mousse/pudding with crumbled wafers on top, creamy and delicious with the wafer crunch though a bit one-note and heavy after a meal of pasta. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, they use good quality ingredients and while there wasn't anything mind-blowing flavor-wise, the chefs know how to execute technically competent food. Service was professional and friendly. It initially took a while to get our waiter's attention to order after the last member of our party arrived. When the entrees came out they forgot the pork chop and had to put it in late, as an apology they comped the tiramisu which was a nice gesture. Staff was pretty busy earlier around 7pm though the crowd dissipated between 8-8:30pm. They have a $25 lunch special (maybe just during the week?) which is unheard of in NY these days and the portions aren't huge but are big enough for sure. You get one of three apps and then one of about 5 mains. I've tried the roasted cauliflower which is a big portion and a ton of flavor as well as the zucchini chips which are SO crispy and unreal!!! For mains I have tried the rigatoni with straciatella (SO good), the farro salad (added shrimp) and the shaved brussels sprouts salad with chicken that was delightful. Definitely worth coming to lunch but even if you don't make it, the food is worth paying full price! I've dined at La Pecora Bianca UES several times and I would really recommend dining during the week for lunch. They have a $30 two course lunch special that's a great value. The service and atmosphere were top notch, as has been the case at other LBP locations. They have been relatively consistent in my experience. Ordered: Zucchini fries- I've tried all three appetizer options available as part of the two course lunch special and this was actually my least favorite. The zucchini is crisp and sauce is good but the other two appetizers were more memorable in my opinion. The thin zucchini bites were a little greasy which I was expecting. Chicken paillard- they offer a very nice portion for this dish. I definitely didn't leave hungry. The chicken was topped with castevelrano olives, almonds and Parmesan which was nice. There was a nice salad which I really liked. This wasn't my favorite item on the menu but it was tasty. My friend ordered the rigatoni with vodka sauce and I really enjoyed it. My dad scored a $15 gift certificate through a survey from the restaurant, so we decided to use it today. My mom and I both got the lunch special, in which for just $25, you can get an appetizer and an entree. The lunch special selection is not as vast as the main menu, but there are vegetarian options, and it's a pretty sweet deal if you're looking to dine out on a budget. We were seated outdoors, and our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We were brought to our seats and right away brought glasses of fresh water. For our food, I got the whipped ricotta with truffle honey as my appetizer. The flavors blended together perfectly, with subtle hints of truffle against the creamy ricotta. It was perfect with the warm toasted bread that came with the dish. My mom got the roasted cauliflower appetizer, which I tried some of, and I thought it was absolutely delicious as well. Our meal was off to a good start! For our mains, I got the rigatoni with vodka sauce and stracciatella (cheese), and my mom got the cacio e Pepe. I used to be a really big fan of this restaurant! I've gone there several times but tonight I had a really off-putting experience at the UES location. My friends and I ordered a tiramisu (which I have ordered at the UES location 5 times prior to today) and told the waitress I had a tree nut allergy. She came over and said that it contains tree nuts and I asked if the recipe had changed since I had eaten it several times. She spoke to the manager and said the recipe had not changed and they had cross contamination in the kitchen. However I have never been told by the staff about this contamination risk prior. On our way out I asked the hostess to speak to the manager to which she replied "oh she is busy right now so she is not going to come to see you". I said well I had a concern about how I was lied to about allergen information in the past. When I explained the situation she said "oh you've eaten it before?? And you had no reaction" which I had just explained to her. I told her that I felt it was extremely important to remind the staff about cross contamination. As someone with a life-threatening allergy who has gone into anaphylaxis due to cross contamination it made me really upset that no waiter had told me about this conflict the past FIVE times I ordered it. Allergies are extremely severe and the staff needs to do a much better job. Shout out to our waitress tonight who was the first one to actually tell us about the cross contamination. read more

I went to Pecora Bianca last night with five friends and I have to say it was just awful. While our server was excellent and attentive, the rest of the evening was really actually upsetting. The food was bad, they served puree on the side thoughtlessly (cold, then microwaved, and without a spoon to eat it) but the WORST part though is that one of the male workers who brought me the puree put both of his hands on my back and shoulders. I cannot express how often women get touched without their consent. I don't want anybody's hands on me. The restaurant should make amends. We sat outdoors, one of the few summer/warm evenings before the fall comes around the corner! They have small tables situated on the sidewalk. I was happy to see that the pastas are all made in-house, I definitely judge a restaurant by their spaghetti. I would definitely tend to a restaurant if their pasta is house-made. For starters, we ordered the charred octopus, which was delicious and on a bed of pesto rosso, for mains we shared the Chicken Paillard, which was a large piece of pounded chicken breast with arugula salad and slices of parm cheese and the Linguine Puttanesca, which had such a delicious olive and capers tomato sauce. For a side, we opted for the Brussels sprouts, however this dish was SO burned! I could not even eat it. I notified our waiter and he was gracious about allowing us to change the dish, which we opted for the cauliflower instead. The cauliflower was so much better! To top off the meal, we got the tiramisu, mind you, this is a HUGE portion! I was so shocked when it arrived, it was in a bowl large enough to eat ramen noodles out of! I remember saying to a friend a bit ago that I love Italian, but I don't yet have a go-to Italian spot in the city. No more. La Pecora Bianca is it. I have somehow found myself here three times in the past two months, and each time has been a delight. I was able to try their lunch special one of the times, which is a prix fixe appetizer and pasta for $25. My cousin and I shared-- we got the ricotta, zucchini fries, vodka pasta, and cacio e pepe. Loved everything. The toasted bread they have is insane-- it's soft, but also crispy, and served with olive oil already on top. The zucchini fries are similarly crispy to perfection and so delicious. The pastas are al dente and full of flavor. The next time I came for dinner, I was able to try their garganelli, which was a dish I had been eyeing from the start because I love pesto more than anything. This did not disappoint. I truly think about it periodically. Sure, maybe the pastas are on the more expensive side, but Italian always is, so you might as well get a stupid good pasta if you're going to pay anyway. My friend also ordered the brussels sprouts on the side, and I was able to try one-- oh my god. They're full of flavor and so tender. If you're a brussels fan, it's definitely worth a try. I had reservations with my fiancé for our anniversary and we were seated almost immediately. The staff was SO attentive and honestly they all seem genuinely kind hearted which is so sweet. Multiple staff members came by to check if we were okay and the food came out quick. We had the calamari for appetizers and the batter is super light and almost fluffy, perfectly cooked. I had the special for the day truffle tagliatelle and it was DELICIOUS! So creamy and the truffle flavors were definitely there, no holding back.
