    Shrimp risotto

We visited LA Peregrina for dinner and had high expectations. The empanadas were just eh the shrimp risotto was a little salty and a little too dry. The Tamarindo margarita was very good. We shared the molcajete and found it disappointing, dry and over cooked and a weird mix of proteins. But the star of the show was definitely the corn bread and ice cream dessert. The service was slow our waiter was more interested in a waitress.

Side entrance We chose to eat at this place because it felt like a nice cozy elegant restaurant. And we were absolutely right. The staff was super nice and accommodating and the vibe here is very cool. Prices were decent for the quality and taste of what you get. The waiters were bilingual and really explained everything to us. I would absolutely eat here again if I have the time. Thanks again to the staff for a wonderful meal and dinner!!

It's a gem of a find, go to the back patio past the mesquite PARRILLA followed by a brick wood fire oven, the restaurant manager allowed us to meet the Mixologist at the bar, he has discovered how to make extracts from rose petals, lemongrass, ginger.... add that to your hot tea or straight as shots. Tonight, we are having the made to order paella, 3 Argentinean empanadas Beefeater tonic, Schweppes tonic water four drops of lemon, and a twist of lime... can you tell we met the Mixologist? ¡YES, WE DID!

This place was located right across our AirBnB. It looked really busy and was always playing good music. Decided to check it out and we weren't disappointed. Ambiance was fantastic. This was my first time going to a restaurant where the floor was sandy pebbles. Almost made it seem like we were dining at a beachfront restaurant. Forgot the server's name but he was fantastic and spoke perfect English. Turns out he goes surfing near where I live in the US. Colleague and I ordered shrimp dishes. I ordered the Zarandeados Camaron. You get a lot more than what the menu says, in a good way. Dish came with mashed potato in the middle and vegetables surrounding. Included green beans, carrots, tomato, zucchini, and mushroom. Couple gripes were the shrimp shell was difficult to remove, carrots were slightly undercooked, and the zucchini still had the stem attached. Flavors were exquisite. Came very close to ordering the pizza. This restaurant has a wood fired pizza oven in the dining room and the smell of fresh dough hitting the hot bricks was hypnotizing. This restaurant is on the pricier side for La Paz. With drinks, you can expect to spend $600 Pesos per person.

The octopus was as good as any I have ever had in Spain and perhaps the best I've ever had ever.

It's a beautiful setting, their attention to detail is readily apparent. Modern and masculine with just enough rustic features to remind you they're cooking meat over flames, you immediately know that you're in for a treat. We had bone marrow served with refried beans (Who knew this was a killer combo?!?), Caesar salad (fresh and traditional), fish tacos (savory and snappy with zest), elote (maybe the highlight of the night, perfectly prepared tender corn oozing with flavor), whole snapper roasted over mesquite, rib eye (perfect medium rare with crispy rendered fat)...oh man...what a treat! Probably my 6th time here over the last decade and they've always been good. They now might be at their peak. It's expensive, likely one of the most costly meals you'll have in La Paz - we ordered wines, drinks, multiple apps, entrees and desserts - and spent around $100 US each for a dinner that would cost twice as much stateside. If you like fine dining, this place is an absolute must.

Perhaps even more notable is…read morethat this restaurant is so vegan friendly that their vegan options are already clearly marked on the menu so you don't have to stress over modifying dishes or play twenty questions with your server. I stumbled upon Locos Por la Pasta after stopping next door at a vegan cafe. That cafe informed me they were closing and that I had to take my food to go. However, they told me this place had "at least five vegan options" so I figured it was worth checking out since I wanted to sit down somewhere for dinner. The large sign outside stating they have vegan options seemed promising, and I was seated immediately and given a menu in English upon request. I wish I took a photo of their menu because the vegan options were plentiful: homemade pastas, pizza, salads, and appetizers -- all clearly marked with a "V". They also had an impressive craft beer list. FYI, you can find their menu online via Google maps. With so many options, I had a hard time deciding but ended up choosing one of the three vegan ravioli options. It was a homemade spinach pasta filled with mushrooms and vegan cheese and topped with a light tomato sauce. I'm a big beer fan so I chose a tasty Baja Brewing stout to enjoy while waiting for my food. My thoughtful server even brought me a chilled glass to pour the bottled beer into. My ravioli came out quickly, and I was delighted to see the amount of care put into making it. It was beautifully presented, and the flavors were well balanced making for a delicious and filling meal. As a home cooking enthusiast myself, I found it really fun to watch them cooking in the open kitchen. It was also really cool to see that this restaurant appears to have a woman head chef, with an all female kitchen staff, too. With delightful vegan options, friendly service, reasonable prices, and a great beer list, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in La Paz. Thanks for a memorable meal, Locos Por la Pasta!

Upon entering, we saw a worker preparing fresh pasta which was really nice. There weren't many people at the time but for some reason service was really slow. After ordering, it took almost an hour to receive our food. The food was tasty and perhaps because it was fresh, it took long to receive but an hour seems a bit excessive. Staff was friendly but not super attentive. Would recommend if not in a rush and looking to sit back for a while.
