Restaurants with a great view are sometimes disappointing. They have the great view but not the great eats. Mariscos, in LaPaz, BCS MX, is a place that has both the great view and the great food. From a USA POV, it is at a great price, too. I ate here during a recent fishing trip to LaPaz. Not only does Mariscos have a great selection of cooked and uncooked fish dishes, but they will cook your catch as part of your dinner as well. What a fun and tasty thing to do with our super fresh catch. We had a number of items, and ordered too much. The central item for our crew was the Seafood platter of multiple preparations of fish as shown in the photos. Yow! Great sauces and great prep. Everything from sashimi (raw) to breaded and fried. We ordered some other dinners to go with it, which was a mistake because there was so much food. Service was great, they really care, and the view was great too - see the sunset photo from the top deck where we ate. When in LaPaz, this is on my list to visit. read more

Absolutely outstanding experience! Private Cooking Experience: Learning Flavors of La Paz, and it lived up to the name. It starts with a market visit, which was genuinely interesting and not rushed. The included transportation made everything easy, so there was nothing to think about logistically and we could just enjoy the experience. Once we got to the rooftop kitchen with beautiful views, it was clear this was not a watch and listen class. We made everything ourselves, both the food and the drinks. We learned how to make fresh guacamole, salsa, and shrimp tacos from scratch, step by step, and then sat down and ate what we cooked. Nothing pre made and nothing felt skipped. The drinks were just as hands on. We made our own margarita, mezcalita, and the double canala. It was not a quick pour and move on situation. You actually learn how they are made. The instructors explained things clearly without hovering, which made the class feel relaxed and fun instead of scripted. We asked questions, made a few small mistakes, fixed them, and learned more because of it. At the end, we received laminated recipe cards to take home, plus treats to bring with us, which was an unexpected and appreciated bonus. It made the experience feel complete, not transactional. Best of all, everything we ate and drank came from our own hands, which made the whole dinner feel earned. Considering how much you learn, the quality of the food and drinks, the rooftop setting, and the fact that this is essentially a full dinner experience, the price was more than reasonable. It felt like real value. This is a great experience for both couples and groups. Highly recommended and easily one of the highlights of our trip. read more

I LOVE the beach so decided to take a trip to La Paz recently. Had dinner here and requested to sit on the second level to have a view of the sunset and it was totally worth it. The food was great, tried the shrimp empanadas and a pescado zarandeado, both were delicious. Service was great too. I'm definitely taking another trip to La Paz soon and I will be stoping here again for sure. read more

We enjoyed a late dinner at Mariscos El Molinito and ordered a "coctel de camaron" which was the best I've ever had. I didn't see the need to add anything to make it taste good WOW! OH and the amount of fresh shrimp in it was insane!! I usually have to search and search for the few pieces of shrimp back home in CALI, but not here!! My hubby ordered the steak, breaded shrimp and clam combination plate, and he enjoyed it. My son ordered the Marlin and the shrimp empanadas and shared some with me. We both enjoyed the empanadas but they were as good as we hoped they'd be. I would say that this place was one I would return for the coctel de camaron, but not sure about the rest of the food. read more

I've eaten at El Molinitos many a times with family and friends. It has been one of my go-to seafood restaurants on the malecon area. I remember the restaurant in its earlier "palapa" days and now with their second story and front expansion, one would never believe El Molinitos was a palapa. Change is good. Besides the spacious open setting interior, there's also lots of parking in the back of the restaurant. It was near closing time when we arrived. Ourselves and other customers (upstairs) were about the only ones Donna was our server. No complaints from my traveling group and I. However, wish Donna could have warned us about the albondigas soup taking longer than the other dishes. The group had already received their food; the soup finally arrived 30 minutes later. El Molinitos has never disappointed, simply satisfied on each visit. I don't recall portioning being skimped. If anything, left-overs are taken home. To add, food price will not break your pocket book. Perhaps, one day, they will be able to offer taste-worthy and a larger selection of desserts. Overall experience at El Molinitos was a good one. We plan to return the next time we visit La Paz. Give El Molinitos a try. read more

Their food is very good but not any better than other places in town. Their ceviche was delicious. The seafood is fresh and caught locally. The chile relleno was only average. The batter was way to much and very greasy; I had to cut away a lot and wound up surprised as to how much batter they had used. The portion was very generous, but I have had much better chile rellenos. If I returned I would stick to the seafood. The salsa and chips were very good. Service: 2 Very slow, non attentive, no one bothered to offer a refill or a second drink. We had to try to get their attention when we needed something. Prices: 5 excellent prices but no better than other places in town Cleanliness: 3. Average. Some room for improvement. Since it's open to the outside there were birds who came to beg and a few flies we had to shoo away. Parking: 5. One of the few few places with their own parking lot (unpaved). Food was good, service wasn't that great but I don't know if it had to do with us arriving until 9pm, but we did have reservations. I'm still not making excuses for them. I tried the pulpo (octopus) zarandiado it was very soft and good. The ambiance was chill only a couple of families. The terrace has beautiful views. They don't have a great kids menu FYI. Had the best carne asada tacos here, even though they weren't on the menu, they happily obliged. . The margaritas are on point and the chips and dip are bomb. This was a nice busy place for lunch. Shrimp tostadas were great. Grilled fish tacos were great too. I braved the salsa bar and did not regret it. It's a nice traditional Baja seafood restaurant. However, the servers were attentive but had trouble coordinating the timing of the dishes. Some dishes were incorrect, and we had a fluent Spanish speaker with us so it wasn't a language problem. The mojito cocktail was too sweet and weak, which is not typical of La Paz cocktails. But I would eat there again. read more

While spending some time in Cabo San Lucas we decided to explore La Paz and the beaches around. We bumped into El Molinito. Oh man !the food is awesome and the prices are so affordable. The environment is perfect for families, the tables are normally set up for 4, 5 or 6 settings. This place is big and open with a view to the water. We ordered the fried fish ( medium ) and it was so huge that could have fed my husband and I no problem. The people next table ordered stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. I can't wait to go." Wife and I ate here last night and unfortunately it Was the worst meal I have ever had in LaPaz. I do not know what happened here. Upon entering the establishment we were totally ignores by all three waiters standing there. We sat ourselves and waited for an eternity before being addressed. We were just scooting our chairs back to leave. If only we had! When the waiter returned with our drink order we went ahead and ordered our entrees; a coconut shrimp and a combination platter. Both arrived after a normal wait. Sadly, both fried orders were very over battered and over cooked. The shrimp was so over cooked you could not discern the taste of shrimp whatsoever. The only taste was of burnt coconut and thick batter. Just awful! The other plate was not much better and my wife fed most of it to the stray cat that was wandering under our feet. No idea what happened to this place as we have eaten here many times in past years. It was however so bad that we will not go back. LaPaz has so many truly good offerings, one need not subject themselves to this poor service and and bad food. read more

I definitely recommend a trip to this restaurant. The food I ordered was cooked to perfection and they serve large portions too! You will not be disappointed here. The only thing I would have changed about my visit would be to sit further away from the road. It consisted of a scallop shell filled with way salty seafood bits in a salty mushroom sauce topped with salty cheese, a piece of steak that was good, and three fried shrimp that were passable in a thin not moist over cooked way. The good things about this place were the drinks (the Clamaron was unique and tasty), the location, the live music, and the service. Unfortunately, the food for us was not so good. The seafood tasted funny and it was loaded with lots of unnecessary ingredients that took away from the culinary experience. We may go back for drinks but will skip the food any day. read more

This was the best meal our group had in La Paz - I had the mango margarita and the catch of the day, sea bass, which was prepared perfectly in a garlic butter sauce. Perfect setting overlooking the Malecon with outstanding sunset views. Others enjoyed the combo platters. Great food at good prices. read more
