Came here for about 9 months, for the most part my nails looked good, other times I was not happy at all. Staff and environment are both very nice. Lee is my favorite nail tech here, he does a good job but he is often quick and doesn't put polish on the sides of my nails (even if I point it out) which bothers me. When Lee was not available I went to UT and was unhappy with my nail shape and how much she rushed each time. I was very upset the last time I came here because she charged me for a full set, when I came in for a fill in because she claimed they were "too grown out". It had been only two and a half weeks which is how often I usually go. After that I found a new nails place which I absolutely love. This place is okay if you really need your nails done, but there are definitely other places that do a better job for the same price. This was by far the WORST nail experience of my life. I went in on Friday as a walk in (as I have always done for the last 10 years). The technician at the door assisted me asking what I needed done. After stating I needed a "Fill in and a Pedi he began to do my nails first, I noticed that they were done with a thin coat of acrylic, fine no problem as long as they last I'm good. Well long story short I was back there on Monday and again today Tuesday as the nails kept breaking. I told him I wanted ALL my nails fixed as he did them too thin initially, he proceeds to tell me that would be considered a full set and not a fill in...... I could not understand for the life of me how he came to that conclusion as he did my fill in. He said he just did what I previously had when I came in, I thought that when you went to a nail salon and request a fill in... that's what they give you!!!!!!!! I believe that was done intentionally to get me to come back so they could charge me more money. Why wouldn't he say that up front if that was the case. I was a patron of this establishment for over 10 years and trust me when I tell you I WILL NEVER WALK IN THOSE DOORS AGAIN! That was the worst customer service treatment ever. And not to mention how they all started standing around and speaking in their language when I made the next technician fix my 2nd damaged nail. I'll start by saying, this was my first time trying NexGen and I love it. It's beautiful and shiny and lasting forever. Now for the bad. They're rude here. I called before coming in to ask some questions. I said "Hi, could you tell me some more information on the NexGen manicure?" and all the man who answered the phone said was "It isn't called a NexGen manicure, its just called NexGen". Seriously? Seriously. Whatever. I really wanted to try it so I went in anyway. They were loud, jabbered at eachother and ignored me the entire time I was in there. One of the girls who worked on my nails drilled way too close to my cuticles numerous times and I had to pull my hand away. I asked her not to file them because I liked the length and shape already...she said "I'll file them a little". Like...just no. Excuse me but I am paying you for a service so you'll do it the way I ask. I waited around to pay for the service for maybe 7 minutes at the front counter before someone said "Pick a color." I said "I've been here for over an hour I need to pay..". Should've just walked out if they cant keep track of their customers DESPITE having more employees in there than customers. He was rude to me when I chose to pay with a credit card (its 2015 people, hardly anybody pays or carries cash anymore so just evolve with the rest of us). To top it all off, I handed him a $10 for the tip (2 separate girls worked on my nails)... He stared at and then said "...you want me to split this between them..?". Like yeah, its not that hard. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because I have been going here sporadically for the past 10 years and not every experience has been as bad as tonight's. I went in for a regular manicure last week... Soaked off my gel and got just a regular mani to give my nails a break. The lady was nice and she suggested NexGen the next time... So I went in tonight and I did not get the same lady, but the person I had CUT ME A FEW TIMES! And more enraging is the fact that she tried to tell me it was because I moved. Lady, this was not my 1st manicure. She was rude and then proceeded to get the liquid in my cut! OWWWWWWW! It was definitely alcohol based and it hurt a lot. Not one apology. I grit my teeth and got through it. At the end she said I was better off getting regular manicures because I couldn't handle the electric filing! The nerve of her...My fingers still hurt now 2 hours later. I have never written such an angry review but this place is horrible and the woman that did my nails tonight should be fired. This is my go-to nail salon and I always ask for U.T. or Lee. I come here mostly for NexGen, which is this awesome nail polish/gel alternative that is in the form of a powder. It will last me a month without breaking unless I do something really out of the ordinary like slam my nail in a door or go rock climbing. This allows my nails to grow so long! Both of them are quick, but do a great job. I feel like other nail salons are really upping their game with trendy nail designs (gems, ombre, etc), and I wish LA Perfection was a little more on top of that. I wish I would of went to Yelp before I went here. The lady who did my nails did a good job. I had to wait 10 minutes before anyone would work on my nails, I'm not sure if it's because I have solar nails and no one else knew how to do them. I was only there for an hour and they charged me 50.00. The sign said $40.00. Then she told me that it would be 30.00 for a fill on my pinks next time, but the sign says $18.00. I have had my nails on for 2 years and have gone to many places around the United States. All the places pretty much charge the same price no matter where you are, so it really bothers me when a company takes advantage of new customers. I really do like this nail salon. I literally travel 45 minutes to get a nexgen full set.... Everyone is pretty accommodating and nice... Most nail techs will chat with you. I enjoy them a lot. The reason for the three star is because today I experience my first "Eeeeewwww" moment here. I came in for a pedicure, and when I put my feet in the water it was too cold. My nail tech wasn't there yet.... So one of the techs who was working with someone else adjusted the knob. Before telling me to put my feet in again..... SHE TOOK HER HAND... WHICH WAS ON SOMEONES FEET CLIPPING SKIN OFF... AND STUCK IT IN MY WATER!!! She expected me to put my foot in there... NOT! You just don't cross contaminate your clients water like that! I came here yesterday and got NEXGEN ! Best decision ever. At first, I was kind of skeptical because I was always used to getting gel, but let me tell you ! It is def worth it. It looks more natural than gel and it actually covers your whole nail. I would def recommend this place to anyone looking to try this new way of doing the "gel" manicure. I went here to get a pedicure and gel mani because the place I normally go to was closed and I was going on vacation the following day. The guy who did my gel mani was nice but he did not remove my nails with foil. He went straight for the drill appliance and starting taking my previous gel off with that. When he did this, I assumed the salon didn't use the foil method and didn't say anything. Later, I saw everyone else who was getting a gel had foil on their nails. He used a drill and now my nails are so soft and keep breaking. They started breaking two days into the gel mani. It doesn't even look like a gel mani and looks like a regular mani. And I wouldn't mind how it looked but I had healthy and strong nails before I came into this place and now they keep breaking and bending and it's actually painful. My gel mani's always last 3 weeks and this one didn't even last 5 days. Extremely disappointing considering I paid more than I normally would for a gel. My pedicure chipped the day after I got it done and was completely off within 4 days. I've never had a pedicure that chipped off so quickly. Normally when I get a pedicure, it lasts over a month and even then, I take off the nail polish because my nails grew, not because it chipped. This wasn't a cheap mani/pedi either. I also regretting tipping because now I have unhealthy crappy nails. This place looks nice and clean and the staff is friendly but is a complete waste of money and time. They took me alright, took me straight to hell. The woman was rude, continuously roasting the length of my nails. Some people smoke cigarettes, some people celebrate birthdays, some people like to paint...me? I like getting my nails done and it was absolutely destroyed for me. She told me she didn't have OPI polish when she had a basket of it staring me in the face. She then continued to harass me about using cash instead of a credit card. The majority of the staff was very pleasant/ but one technician spoke very loud the entire time and it was hard to relax. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Was in town visiting family for Easter and stopped by to get nails done. Was looking forward to getting the dip powder gel (they call it "next gen" gel) since that's what I get back home. I arrived around 5:30. Waited while other ppl with appointments were taken ahead of me (no problem). David (owner's son who sits by the front door) asked who was next, so I raised my hand. Apparently someone else thought she was next so I said no problem, not a big deal, I'll let her go next. He asked again, about 2 min later, who was next. I raised my hand and was led to a chair to get my pedicure started. Minutes later, he walks someone to another chair past me who claimed she was "next" (as in next in line ahead of me) and he told her she would be next and motioned for her to sit in a chair. I told him that was absolutely untrue and he didn't even ask me. At this point I am thoroughly annoyed bc if you don't have a system in place to know who is next, then you should get one. I had been waiting quite a while at this point and there was no hot water to soak my feet in. To top it all off, I got out of my chair (and brought my purse with me) to walk to the front of the salon and ask David if any of the 3 manicurists who had been recommended to me were available to do my nails. He said no and wasn't sure how much longer I'd have to sit with my feet in cold water. While I was talking to him, someone else came to get her feet done and they led her to my chair, which was full of the water that I had just been soaking my feet in, and she was taking off her shoes about to sit in my chair and soak her feet until I said something. I agree with the last review. I visited this salon twice. The first time I was pleased. The second time I could not wait to get out of the chair. The tech was rude and impatient. I had a few basic questions and at one point she told me not to tell her what her job was then followed up by blurting out something to her coworker in her "language"! I would give this store ZERO stars if I could. Actually HORRIFIED by my experience here. I got a pedicure and manicure. The pedicure was OK at best. She tore my toes apart with a cuticle cutter and I had to ask her to refile my toe because it was crooked. The massage was literally less than one minute and was weak.. She had gloves on. Now my manicure was HORRENDOUS. After she removed my polish I could still see multiple remains of my previous polish. I asked her to remove the paint and it did nothing so I asked her for the cotton ball and did it myself. Next she painted my nails and scratched one of them and I could still see the bare sides of my nail on another. When I asked her to fix it she got upset and gave me attitude asking to point out whatever else was not per my expectation. She then proceeded to clearly talk about me in Japanese and the rest of the employees stared at me. My sisters shared similar negative experiences. PLEASE do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
