Tot is the owner and my hairdresser. I have been going to him for approximately 18 years for myself and my kids. He is fabulous. Anytime I go to Tot's, he will check my hair to see if it is healthy enough to do the desired dye before he starts it. Tot and I will review looks and colors to pick the best one. He will never dye someone's hair if it will ruin it. He is the best. Tot is very kind, caring, and great with kids. I HIGHLY recommend him for your hairdresser. read more

12/6/19 Rushed job, zero undivided attention. There were many MANY stops to answer the phone/deal with other customers..the guy who normally does hair started my nails, then I switched over to a woman ,then back to him...musical chairs. The woman slapped on the acrylic so thick and chunky, and the hair guy barely shaved them down. The nail isn't even fully covered in paint, there's super glue residue still leftover on my finger, AND they don't do much nail care (need to prep your nails before you go) I'm shocked they have been approved by any health department because the cleanliness was way below subpar. Change your gloves when you deal with new hands. Clean your instruments before you pass along an infection and go out of business. I hate businesses that charge people for garbage work. Let's take a look at my nails.. can you say chicklets? Chunky af, uneven af, nonmatching af. It's like I did my nails myself... dont waste your time at this extremely unprofessional "salon" they don't clean or replace instruments. They don't give any real customer service . I'm giving this a one star bc I HAVE to rate it. I went to have a pedicure and the lady cut and "dug" into my cuticle. Went back to cut more and I told her to stop. No foot rub, done very quickly or to be honest she really didn't know what she was doing. She painted my toes using semi dried nail polish. Then went back to cut my cuticles AGAIN. My fault for not stopping her when she started and my fault for paying. I don't like to make a scene but I'll NEVER go back there again. Absolutely horrible.... read more

I brought my dad here for Father's Day for a mani pedi and he was charged $60! Because he had callus which they said was too much work. He still left with his heels dry, uneven and ashy and no clear polish. Onto the hand he left with uneven cuticles and uneven nail bed and blackness still under the nails in one had. They move super slow or maybe it was just the lady they gave him. Go someplace else read more

On Saturday I had my nails done. On Monday the polish was cracked and the polish was beginning to chip. I do not recommend this salon.

First time here, I went in for a Pedicure. Bella did a decent job but I was in and out in less than 20 minutes which has never happened before. She filed, cut my cuticles, cleaned bottom of feet, lotioned/ gave a mini massage and then painted. However I feel like with other salons I've received more detailed service for the same price. For example, scrubbing dead skin off, cleaning longer, etc. Also I had to ask her to apply one more coat of polish on certain toes because they were streaky... Overall just average service for a decent price. read more

Excellent! I actually came to the area to go to another nail shop but they were closed. I was already here so tried Matrix. I went to Tina for a gel fill. Tina was excellent! Her attention to detail was spot on. She shaped my nails beautifully, she polished them beautifully and very clean and urged me to be bold and try a color out of my norm. I went for white. I was so nervous but it was gorgeous and lasted perfectly for almost 2 weeks. Highly recommend Matrix Nails. read more

I used to got to them all the time for my nails and pedicures only. They do great nails and decent pedis however their prices are a little on the CRAY side. I feel like every time I went I was given a different price. First of all the decor is very 80s and could be upgraded for the money they rake in on a day to day and second of all I have experienced comparable service for better prices. I only started going to them because I moved but I will save myself the money and travel the extra mile to my other spot. The incident that placed the nail in the coffin for me is today I received a pedicure and two of my toenails I wished to have slightly elongated (with acrylic) to help the color pop, they charged me $35 for the pedicure...really $35, never again! To give you an idea their pedicures begin at $20 and for nails I get gel fill and gel color they charge $40 and sometimes $45. I'm done with them..but I wish them well none the less. read more

I've been getting my nails done for many years and have used different places from North Brunswick to South Plainfield, I'm sure I've been in almost every salon in between. mostly switched it up because I wasn't ever really happy with the final results and always thought a new place would be better. Well no more looking, I will return to matrix for anything I need done. They have competitive pricing, a cozy and friendly atmosphere and I love that my husband can get a haircut while I get a pedicure. Every time I went to get my nails done there it would chip like 3 days later. The last time I got my nails done. Almost every nail started chipping 2 days later. I went back to tell them so I could get it fixed about 3 days later. At first it was no problem for them to fix it. They left me there soaking for at least 30 mins and I started to get aggravated. They were using the same tools on me and another lady to scrap the gel off. Another lady came in and she soaked for maybe 5 mins and then someone started doing her nails right away. So then they finally did mine. She was going to try to charge me about $13 more to fix one nail that I got a tip on it because it was broken but when they left me soaking for so long it came off and also to do a stronger UV gel so they don't chip. I told her no I just paid $40 3 days ago. I don't want to spend anymore money. So she was just going to do a new gel manicure and that was it. And she also said I came 1 week later. I told her no I got them done Saturday. I came back Tuesday. And Sunday's they're closed anyways. Then I'm going back and forth with her because she didn't want to put the tip on the broken nail I had that soaked off. I asked her who the owner was and then the guy came over and they started speaking in there language right in front of me (who knows what they were saying about me) but after that she ended up putting the tip on my broken nail. I left once i was done and didn't pay anything. I didn't even tip her cause she was very rude. I'm never going there again. They're rude and my nails always chip. read more
