Had a wonderful early dinner here. It was a hot day and it was wonderful to sit outside in the shade and people-watch while enjoying good drinks and pizza. The bartender made me a Mojito which was refreshing though it was not the menu.

La Perla is officially your PIZZA SPOT when you go to Amsterdam, and this is coming from a New Yorker foodie who's tried slices all over the world. This place was great. The pizzas come whole, so no slices here, but make sure you come hungry, they have a lot of good pies to enjoy. An aperol spritz to go with the pie is the right move in Europe, so get one of those when you sit down and enjoy. The service was okay, the place was packed so he put in the orders, had a little time to talk, but would rather chat up the group of girls outside who are on vacation. It's okay, I don't blame him. The Proshut is Imported (the best) and could you believe the people next to us were from Brooklyn and they loved it too? That says something. Two thumbs up. One bite score- 7.3

Classic Neapolitan pizza served in a cozy tight space. I was surprised that the wood fired oven and kitchen is actually located across the street with the food runners traversing back and forth. The fresh buffalo milk mozzarella and the crust were the highlights. The pizzas we tried could have been more amped in taste with some salt. I love the fresh ingredients however so I will let that pass. Our server was great-quick with suggestions or refilling our wine glasses. Reservations are important as the space fills up fast.

Can't beat the great taste of woodfire pizza! I was just visiting and sat at the bar because the place gets packed. Service is great. I should have ordered wine with the pizza because it's that good.

We were getting sick of eating traditional Dutch food after 3 days in Amsterdam and a friendly local we chatted up recommended La Perla for dinner. We made an easy reservation and headed out around 9 pm. The restaurant is located down an alleyway in a quiet neighborhood, which already lends a romantic, undiscovered vibe. It's in the "Little Italy" portion of the Jordaan district. The restaurant atmosphere is modern and sleek. Europeans are very quiet diners, so it's not loud at all. The place is small with only a few tables. We were treated warmly even though we were obvious tourists. La Perla specializes in Italian cuisine and in particular, Naples style pizza. They have a nice wood burning brick pizza oven that cooks up some tasty pies. (The oven is located across the street, which is weird but cool! It's not technically inside the dining room portion of the restaurant). Pizzas cost roughly $10 - $14 euros each, which is a good deal considering their quality. What makes the pizza so good here is the excellent ingredients. According to the chef, they get fresh buffalo mozzarella delivered several times a week straight from Italy. Even the olive oil on the table is delicious. We opted for a classic margherita pizza and one with sliced salami (their version of pepperoni) with a fresh buffalo mozzarella appetizer. The cheese appetizer was creamy and pungent, with a drizzle of quality olive oil and a few greens for color and topped with salty olives. We also had a bowl of fresh olives for the table (watch out for the pits) that were delicious. The pizzas were large and fresh, perfectly chewy with a light, bright tomato sauce. There are also plenty of wines by the glass too. It's great if you can't agree on a bottle. Reservations are easy to make by calling the restaurant. They are required for dinner, but lunch is walk-in only. Don't be intimidated, they are super friendly here (and speak perfect English -- as well as some Italian)!

My family and I went to La Perla after taking a train from Paris that morning. We didn't have a reservation, so when we arrived we got a table and were told we had an hour and a half. We ordered bruschetta, which was different from what you would get in America, because the tomatoes were not finely sliced and it was not individual. We also ordered a margarita pizza and 2 other pizzas (don't remember the name.) My margarita pizza was good, not the best I've had but still pretty good. My parents pizza was good as well! Service was okay, they were very busy (reservations booked throughout the whole night) but eventually we got everything we needed. Servers were very friendly.

OMG! best pizza I ever tasted haven't eaten pizza in Italy (yet) but my wife has and tells me that they still have first place. toppings where so fresh! we wanted to eat everyones pizza around us. we order the 4 cheese and was blown away! I miss them :( felt bad for the guy delivering pizza in the cold across the street in their other space but people got to have their pizza. its so good they could make the costumer to come get it! But don't do that or I will have to change my review. Miss your pizza bad! :( North end Boston I will be exploring your pizza spots looking for a competitor. Wonderful food, friendly staff, and great local beers. My husband and I came here for dinner on a Friday night in our visit to Amsterdam. We didn't make reservations so we had to sit at the bar. That was just fine as we could order food there as well. We had the prosciutto pizza & olive bruschetta. It was a great meal and we would definitely return on our next visit to Amsterdam! My tip is to make reservations though if you will be going there for dinner. read more

Wood burning stove, buffalo mozzarella, absolutely fresh ingredients. I think the Calabrese sausage may well be the single best Pizza I have ever had. One side of street is take away, the other has sit down dining ( there is limited seating on takeaway side too. I usually try to find any opportunity to have two visits whenever I am in Amsterdam-- pizza is just that good read more

Our favorite pizza place in Amsterdam. There are plenty of great Italian restaurants on Tweede Tuindwarsstraat, but this one is hands down the best. Spicy salami on the pizza, a great enslada cypress, and a beer or glass of wine. Heaven! read more

My husband and I loved this restaurant. We didn't have reservations so we ended up sitting at the bar and met some really nice people. The wait staff was great and the food was excellent. La Perla is a local pizza/bar in the western Jordan district visited by mainly locals. My wife and I stopped by because of decent reviews of this restaurant, and the reviews were on spot with this location. The food was good (not great) and the atmosphere was "trendy". This place has a fine selection of spirits to compliment their food. One of the small issues with this location is that its can be kinda cramped and seating is limited, but I would still recommend this location. read more

Thanks to Yelp we discovered this amazing pizza joint not far from where we were staying. We had the artichoke, and plain cheese pizzas and they were by far some of the best we have eaten in years. Special thanks to the staff who squeezed us in, without a reservation, on the promise we'd order and eat within an hour to make room for their next dinner guests who had reserved. read more

Very cozy, welcoming café close to museums. The two sisters that run the restaurant are adorable and very friendly. We tried several dishes and the black pasta with ricotta and salmon was by far the best items on the menu. The marinaded anchovies were our second favorite. The service was only ok, that's why only 4 stars instead of 5 the pizza was so good. Fresh ingredients and made to order. I wish I knew the place across the street was part of the same restaurant so I could've sat there instead (since they had alcohol there and not where I was) so if you wanna drink make sure you sit at the restaurant with the bar across from where they make the pizza read more

The pizza was bland. Decent crust and cheese. Tasteless sauce. The worst part was the service. Took forever to place our order. My drink never came until I asked for it again. Had to ask to be seated at a table even though most of restaurant was empty and the owner/worker was staring straight at us as we walked in. They need to work on providing a better service. read more

Excellent Neapolitan pizza, perfect, thin crust cooked quickly in a wood burning oven. We also enjoyed a very good ricotta and lemon ravioli at lunch. A very casual ambiance - plain wooden tables strewn with fashion magazines. We never did get to enjoy a pizza in the licenced portion of the restaurant, though (which is across the street from the smaller, outlet where the oven is, but which is not licenced to serve alcohol. Pizza is only available after 5:00 p.m., and the licenced portion is closed on Monday and Tuesday - and packed on Saturday! But, exceptional pizza! read more

I think La Perla is so far the best pizza I've tried in Amsterdam! We ordered a couple and stood in the streets, alternating who's holding the box, and shoved it in our faces while hot. It was very delicious!!! The place is quite small, but I've never sat inside :) read more

As the others have said, this place is outstanding. I think I'd hold it equal to the best pizza we had in Florence. The stracchino e bufala pizza was great and the buffalo mozzarella in the caprese salad made me melt into my seat...simply delicious! I really appreciated that they squeezed us in without a reservation on the street...and as a plus the vibrant street provided the perfect backdrop for dinner, as it's located in a fabulous neighborhood. Can't wait to go back! read more

My husband gives it 3.5, I give it 2.5, so a 3 it is. We had the Calabrese di Spilinga Pizza. My husband loves sausage but the spicy sausage was very one note, tasting like they mixed sausage, oil, and red pepper flakes. The waitress said that people really like that pizza and that they are known for their simple flavors. IMO, there is a difference between real food made with fresh ingredients versus the issue of complexity of flavor. you can have both!! Well, the mozzarella cheese had no individual flavor, I couldn't find any red sauce to sample alone, and the sausage was really boring. Crust was meh (thin). They had one grape tomato per pizza slice, so that was a nice bite. I would not recommend it. read more

This place is delicious! We were just walking the streets of Amsterdam when we started craving pizza. La Perla came up on our list so we started walking. Near the Anne Frank house in the Jordaan district, La Perla offers a nice selection of local beers and Italian style pizza. We ordered a spicy salami pizza and sausage/artichoke pizza. Both pies were excellent and the service was even better. Reasonably priced with a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Find a table inside or outside or just sit at the bar, you're sure to have an excellent time. La Perla is highly recommended to get your pizza fix while in Amsterdam! read more

A sit down restaurant across from a pizza parlor. It's in a great lower foot traffic section. 7:30 on a Friday night and they had reservations for 2 hours. We went across to the 12 stool parlor - found 2 spots vacating and ordered a plain pie and bufala pie. Out of the oven in 10 minutes. Very good. As good as you could hope - fresh ingredients, nice tangy sauce and a good crust. I think the closest thing you'll find the Pizzeria Mozza in Amsterdam. read more

In the open kitchen you can see (and hear!) the chef work his magic. The bread, the starters, the fresh home made pasta's and the secondi's are all amazing. They import a lot from Italy themselves, and you can even but a bottle of olive oil here. The place is full of ferrari signs, foto's of Sophia Loren, etc. It feels like a second home. Same goes for the pasta with sausage we had. Maybe the secondi taste better, but I'm not prone to go check them out after this experience. All in all, good service, but for the pricing they might pay a little more attention to the food.

De pizza's die je bij La Perla kan bestellen zijn toch echt van een ander soort klasse. Het enige wat jammer van het restaurant is, is dat het niet zo heel groot is. Wij hadden gelukkig op tijd kunnen reserveren en zo hadden wij onze tafel voor 4 bemachtigd. We hebben heerlijk genoten van de lekkere wijn en die pizza's daar heb ik nu al weer zin. Wha a GREAT surprise in the Netherlands! I ordered a Salami pie, and it was just outstanding. The service was spectacular, and the smell of the place took me back to my Jersey pizza days. I will make this a regular stop in Amsterdam every time now. read more
