La Perla is officially your PIZZA SPOT when you go to Amsterdam, and this is coming from a New Yorker foodie who's tried slices all over the world. This place was great. The pizzas come whole, so no slices here, but make sure you come hungry, they have a lot of good pies to enjoy. An aperol spritz to go with the pie is the right move in Europe, so get one of those when you sit down and enjoy. The service was okay, the place was packed so he put in the orders, had a little time to talk, but would rather chat up the group of girls outside who are on vacation. It's okay, I don't blame him. The Proshut is Imported (the best) and could you believe the people next to us were from Brooklyn and they loved it too? That says something. Two thumbs up. One bite score- 7.3
Classic Neapolitan pizza served in a cozy tight space. I was surprised that the wood fired oven and kitchen is actually located across the street with the food runners traversing back and forth. The fresh buffalo milk mozzarella and the crust were the highlights. The pizzas we tried could have been more amped in taste with some salt. I love the fresh ingredients however so I will let that pass. Our server was great-quick with suggestions or refilling our wine glasses. Reservations are important as the space fills up fast.
We were getting sick of eating traditional Dutch food after 3 days in Amsterdam and a friendly local we chatted up recommended La Perla for dinner. We made an easy reservation and headed out around 9 pm. The restaurant is located down an alleyway in a quiet neighborhood, which already lends a romantic, undiscovered vibe. It's in the "Little Italy" portion of the Jordaan district. The restaurant atmosphere is modern and sleek. Europeans are very quiet diners, so it's not loud at all. The place is small with only a few tables. We were treated warmly even though we were obvious tourists. La Perla specializes in Italian cuisine and in particular, Naples style pizza. They have a nice wood burning brick pizza oven that cooks up some tasty pies. (The oven is located across the street, which is weird but cool! It's not technically inside the dining room portion of the restaurant). Pizzas cost roughly $10 - $14 euros each, which is a good deal considering their quality. What makes the pizza so good here is the excellent ingredients. According to the chef, they get fresh buffalo mozzarella delivered several times a week straight from Italy. Even the olive oil on the table is delicious. We opted for a classic margherita pizza and one with sliced salami (their version of pepperoni) with a fresh buffalo mozzarella appetizer. The cheese appetizer was creamy and pungent, with a drizzle of quality olive oil and a few greens for color and topped with salty olives. We also had a bowl of fresh olives for the table (watch out for the pits) that were delicious. The pizzas were large and fresh, perfectly chewy with a light, bright tomato sauce. There are also plenty of wines by the glass too. It's great if you can't agree on a bottle. Reservations are easy to make by calling the restaurant. They are required for dinner, but lunch is walk-in only. Don't be intimidated, they are super friendly here (and speak perfect English -- as well as some Italian)!
My family and I went to La Perla after taking a train from Paris that morning. We didn't have a reservation, so when we arrived we got a table and were told we had an hour and a half. We ordered bruschetta, which was different from what you would get in America, because the tomatoes were not finely sliced and it was not individual. We also ordered a margarita pizza and 2 other pizzas (don't remember the name.) My margarita pizza was good, not the best I've had but still pretty good. My parents pizza was good as well! Service was okay, they were very busy (reservations booked throughout the whole night) but eventually we got everything we needed. Servers were very friendly.

3.5 stars This place is really small and it's usually packed so prepare to wait unless you have reservations. The pizza was good but we weren't really blown away by it that we'd want to come back next time we are in Amsterdam. Definitely underwhelming especially after reading all the 5 star reviews. read more
I came here on a weekday night and I had trouble finding the place because it wasn't at the address written on the map. Luckily, the couple I asked on the street was going there too, so I followed them over. Once I got there, I looked around and it was smaller than I thought. There's a back area with a pretty big communal table, and luckily I was only one person so it was easy to find a seat. Even then, almost all the seats were taken. The table wasn't very roomy though, and I had to ask the person sitting next to me to move and get out so I could squeeze past him. In any case, I looked at the brief pizza menu and there were quite a few options. I asked the cashier for recommendations, and he suggested the special with spicy salami which sounded great. I sat down and waited for a bit for the pizza, and I was waiting for it by the counter when my order finally came up. It came piping hot out of the oven and looked so tasty. I sat down and started eating, and it was delicious. The spicy salami wasn't very spicy though, and it chopped up and mixed with chili and chili oil. The pizza was also really oily due to the chili oil. There were also a few tomatoes but the blobs of meat weren't very tasty. The crust was chewy and tasty, and the piping hotness made it good. But, the flavor wasn't there and it was overly oily. It was also pricey at around 14 euros. read more
We were in Amsterdam on holiday and heard about this place. Reservations are definitely recommended - we made a booking for 6:30 and were seated right away, but the resto quickly filled up as we were having our meal. For two people, we ordered the bresaola, the bruschetta with lardo, and an artichoke pizza to share. The meal started with some complimentary olives which were delicious. Both the bresaola and pizza arrived quickly and were amazing! Unfortunately they forgot about our bruschetta until we were mostly done eating - the dish was good, but we were already pretty full by the time it came out, so definitely less able to appreciate it. read more
My husband and I came here with a friend on our first night in Amsterdam. The restaurant is unique in layout where the kitchen is on one side of the street and doesn't offer seating while the restaurant and bar are on the other side of the street. I found it entertaining watching the servers run good but also left me curious on how they operate in the rain. The restaurant is pretty small with the tables located close together. You def need a reservation and need to speak softly in order to not disrupt tables next to you. While waiting to be seated we saw pasta specials on listed on a chalk board in the entryway. Each option made our mouth water. Unfortunately for us pasta is only offered during lunch and dinner which was disappointing. Pizza is only offered for dinner with small offering of starters. We ordered 3 pizzas which were all delicious! We got the margarita, salame crudo and the prosciutto San Danielle. The San Danielle was my favorite...I very quickly learned prosciutto in Europe is beyond delicious and not has salty. The salame crudo wasn't too spicy and the Margarita was just as tasty. We were a bit jet lagged and skipped dessert. Next time I'm in Amsterdam I would live to come back for lunch so I could try those pastas! read more
Amazing location, very pleasant ambiance (except for the girl who was smoking cigarette right next to me one after another).... Pizza was really good, apparently they are really famous for their pizzas. They have some limited number of pastas as well, but almost everyone orders the pizza. Having said that, I have had better pizzas in the US. Add the traveling effect and I enjoyed this lunch a lot. read more
There is pizza and there is La Perla. The italian classics they prepare in their brick oven are from another universe. You'll have to wait, that's for sure. During the opening hours the pizza addicts are standing in line. But Rome wasn't built in a day, so relax and enjoy the sweet anticipation. That's all you need to know about La Perla. Great pizza and great staff. We had an hour-long wait because it was so busy, but since La Perla sits right in the midst of the Jordaan we just wen to a bar and had a drink while we waited. Everyone on staff waits on every table, so it's easy to ask for an extra napkin or glass of water. When one waitress saw my boyfriend and I struggling to translate the menu, she happily stepped in and helped us decide. To start, we got a glass of Sangiovese and the bruschetta with capocolo and some kind of cheese that I don't remember the name of (though it's similar to buffelmozzarella but creamier). The capocolo was smoky and the cheese was really creamy and delicious. As entrees we got the Prosciutto San Daniele and the Puttanesca. Both were really tasty, but I wouldn't recommend getting the Puttanesca if you don't like/shouldn't have too much salt because it was quite salty. What really shined on both pizzas was the cheese. The buffelmozzarella was so creamy and had slightly buttery taste. It was so good that my boyfriend and I kept cutting around the cheese to save it for last! The portions were great also, by the end of the meal we both felt full but not too stuffed. Overall we had a great experience at La Perla and definitely plan to add this to our regular list of restaurants to visit. Super lekker! read more

La Perla is off the beaten path and the area has more of a local feel. I'd recommend this place if you or you group were into a small walk and a quiet place. There are two parts of La Perla, just so you're not confused. One side of the street is more of the pizza place, the other side is the restaurant. I went to the pizza side and ordered a margarita pizza, then I went to the lunch/dinner side and ordered a beer. My margarita pizza was delicious and just near €10. My beer was the city average, at €4.50. Salute and happy eating! read more

Stumbled onto this place and was totally delighted. The best tomatoes (flown in from Siciily) i've had since tomatoes stopped tasting like tomatoes however long ago that was. Great pizza. Great place to watch the city go by. read more
Tried this place during a recent visit to Amsterdam after seeing the good reviews and was not disappointed. The pizza came after only a short wait, the atmosphere outside was so perfect and peaceful, and all 4 of the pizzas I tried were delicious. My favorite was the simple but flavorful margherita. The buffalo mozzarella is fantastic. read more

It seemed weird getting pizza in Amsterdam, but we were hungry, and this place looked good. A cozy establishment in Yoordahn, La Perla didn't disappoint with it's simple but tasty 'za fare. If you're hungry, you'll need a pizza per person. They're thin crust, and just enough toppings to keep everyone happy - no arguments about who stole who's salami. We got the Calabrese (amazing salami on this bad boy), Margherita and one more with prosciutto on it. All three were excellent, the total bill coming to 35 Euros. They had one beer available which was pretty lame, but their wine selection was nice. Apparently the home-made tiramisu is good, but we didn't see it on the menu when we visited. All in all, a solid 4/5. read more

Some of the best pizza in Amsterdam, guaranteed! A few friends and I stopped over one Saturday evening for dinner after hearing amazing reviews and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant was packed so we ended up in the other section of the restaurant where the pizzas are fired up, which gave us an entire room to ourselves. We had the margarita pizza and a caprese salad, all of which were delicious. The mozzarella on the caprese salad tasted surprisingly fresh and has to be the best I have ever had. If you're a pizza lover, La Perla is your best bet in Amsterdam! read more
Decent pizza but absolutely not the best I had. The freshest ingredients maybe but the workplace where they prepare the pizza is filthy and the hair I found in my pizza didn't help. It is definitely a popular place but I feel it is just because there isn't much choice anyway. Toilets are filthy and this is if you manage to get in to do your business. read more

Excellent pizza and wonderful service at reasonable prices. We shared a salad and a pizza which could not have been better. Highly recommend reservations as this place fills up quickly in the early evening. Big pizza oven is the centerpiece of all the baking action. Nice touch? Olives as an appetizer. Not hard to see why this is a popular dinner destination. read more

Found this pizza spot for dinner after cocktails. It seemed to be Drake night because that's all they were playing. It was definitely an upbeat ambiance and who doesn't love to eat good pizza, drink red wine and jam to Drake while doing it? We ordered two pies (prosciutto and spicy sausage). They were both amazing and delicious. For dessert, we got the tiramisu which was a perfect ending taste of the night. Highly recommend La Perla. Terrific pizza. read more

Decent italian place in the middle of little italy! Solid thin crust pizza, especially the margherita pizza, although the prices are a bit high (€8 for a small bit of bruschetta!). That being said their dessert (tiramisu) is fantastic! My only complaint is that the service is a bit slow - for a small, packed restaurant. read more
On this first trip to Europe many pieces of pizza have been eaten in an attempt to stave off hunger. However only the pizza here has been worth documenting. We selected a pizza that had fresh oregano, cherry tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, and some other decadent white cheese. It was cooked in a beautiful pizza oven in the open air. I sipped on a "bitter lemon" soda while I waited that was just like the description. The pizza came out un-cut and pipping hot. After letting it set I split it in half and after taking one bit, decided to save all of my crust to soak up any delicious oily tomato cheese mess that might be left on the plate at the end. Phenomenal food and the check out boy was kind enough to teach me how to say thank you in Dutch. read more

Maybe the best pizza in Amsterdam. Very thin & crispy, with very good ingredients like real Mozzarella di bufala. Not cheap, but well worth it! read more

You could say Italian is very popular in Amsterdam. There are countless restaurants marketed as Italian but there food is far from it. La Perla is in my opinion, hands down, the best pizza in Amsterdam and considering how popular it is, not that expensive. They have a restaurant and across the road a take away. They use Italian ingredients and they are normally pretty fast. My personal favourite is the puttanesca. If you are around this part of the Jordaan, do not hesitate and grab a pizza here! read more
La Perla is utterly perfect for an unbelievably delicious pizza and a glass of wine. I had the Calabrese, and would not change a single thing about it (in my opinion it's easy to find things to change on a pizza). The price cannot be beat for the quality. The intimate atmosphere is very nice for a one-on-one dinner...when I come again on my next business trip I will enjoy a nice date with my wife here. Great service too. read more
