In the land where meat is a vital part of the economy, there are not many seafood restaurants in town. About a 20 min Uber ride from our Airbnb apartment, it also allowed us a glimpse into Palmero. We made online reservations through their WhatsApp number. Quickly seated around 7.30pm before the crowd started to arrive. Fortunately, our server spoke English too. The fried seafood appetizer was a large tasty portion of shrimp and calamari. The server provided additional red sauce when requested. My pisco sour was very good although a bit too much whipped whites on the top. Recommend to request on the rocks next time. The table next to us, ordered a salad which was very large, probably an appetizer for 4! Service was very polite and not too slow. I enjoyed the fresh river fish for my entree. We skipped dessert as we had been eating at too many bakeries every morning for breakfast! Palermo in that area around 9pm or so was not very exciting. Other restaurants and lots of food delivery bicycle riders hanging about.... It would be nice to return with more of a plan to explore the area. Easy to request a ride back to Recoleta and catch some sights along the way! read more

We had the couscous salad and black paella paired with a Luigi Bosca Sav. Blanc. The food was outstanding! Delicious flavors in both the salad and the paella and everything was prepared extremely well. Lucas was our primary waiter and he was extremely attentive and capable of handling our English translation needs. The decor in the restaurant is very eclectic, yet appealing. This was our second time here and after learning our lesson the first time ( ordering WAAAAYYYY too much) we knew that the seafood sharing platter was all we needed. It came to the table suspiciously fast but everything was cooked nicely. The sauces are a bit of a throwaway, especially the creamy one. Not sure what it was but it tasted like nothing. Don't sleep on the sides ( couscous salad and a risotto-esque rice) as they might actually surpass the seafood in tastiness, seasoned to perfection. The service was friendly and the food was delightful and reasonably priced considering what you get. Pro tip: dip some of the bread into the liquid in the bottom the seafood griddle. One of the most highly regarded seafood restaurants in Buenos Aires. The reputation is fully deserved. The place draws crowds and crowds. Get a reservation - or show up right when they open. Americans eat earlier than Argentines - so you can sometimes talk your way in at the beginning of a shift. * * * I had the calamari in tomato sauce of my dreams. There was a smoked fish dish that came later that was utterly divine ... But once I had the calamari in tomato sauce nothing else mattered. Yes, it helps that they cook with Argentine tomatoes that are far far better than American tomatoes. It also helps that Argentina has fine squid. But most of the magic comes from their kitchen. * * * I will still remember that squid after I return home. read more

There was a line of people waiting to be seated. The restaurant was full at 10pm. Luckily we got there just before a rush of people showed up. We sat outside since the weather was nice and it took a while for the waiter to come. He was handling multiple tables. Alejandro was attentive once we decided to order. You could tell he was overwhelmed by the many tables he was taking of. We were self sufficient, and he kept on coming by with a smile to see if we were happy with the food. I first ordered the carpaccio of langostino. It was delicious, and a little bit salty...but very good. After that, the calamari fried, the gambas al ajillo, and the huge dish of seafood, which includes mejilliones, salmon, shrimps, and a white fish. What flavors coming from there. It was amazing. We also got a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. You can see everything in the photos. We were getting tired so we ordered dessert to go. Key lime pie, which was really good. If it were a little closer, I would eat here once a week. Excellent seafood, good service, reasonable prices (at least for lunch, which is when I eat there.) Definitely our favorite meal in BA! Loved this place! The staff was very attentive and professional and we got sat quickly. The outdoor seating area is nicely decorated (as well as the inside of the restaurant). They regularly have live music from different street performers. As soon as you seat you will notice the amazing seafood smell! The menu offers many options including a catch of the day which is delicious. For desserts, we highly recommend their Gianduja chocolate cake, totally worth the hype Wine was reasonably priced and actually quite good, they pour very generously! The service and the atmosphere is great. The starter dishes came out quickly. We ordered the fried calamari and the regular calamari. Both were rich in flavor and presentation. For entre, we ordered the seafood spaghetti, pappardelle, seafood paella and the crispy salmon. My favorite was the salmon, it was cooked just right with a slightly crispy exterior and moist interior. I was a little disappointed with the paella. It was greasier than I expected and the rice was crunchy and burnt. Other than that, the seafood was fresh, rich in flavor and delicious. read more

The five of us tucked into two appetizers - a good sized frito mixto of delicately fried shrimp, baby calamari, and calamari rings, with a scattering of mussels (570 pesos! $16!) and a relatively small helping of gambas al ajillo - prawns in a mildly spicy garlic sauce (450 pesos, $12.50). Both quite good. Even though a bit pricey, they were certainly worth it for the quality. We then ordered two large main courses to share - the same parrillada, or mixed grill, though the larger version of it (I'd had the version for 2 people the first time I went, which back at that time ran 240 pesos - given the exchange rate at the time, that was roughly $30) - it's now, I think, 1100 pesos, or about the same in dollars. The large version is 1450 pesos, or $40, and is double the quantity. Slightly disappointing that they don't have the variety of seafood on the platter anymore. My original version, I listed, "salmon, sandperch, flounder and hake; and a mound of octopus, squid, cuttlefish, prawns, shrimp, and scallops". Now, there were just two types of fish rather than four - salmon and sandperch, prawns and shrimp, and some calamari and mussels. No scallops, no cuttlefish, and while you can get it with octopus, they now charge an extra 1100 pesos to put it on the platter. Also gone are the trio of dipping sauces, it's now just a basic herb-garlic sauce and some yogurt. It's still excellent, just not as good in comparison to what it used to be. We also ordered the gran cazuela de mariscos - a lovely tomato based shellfish stew of prawns, clams, mussels, and baby squid. Really good, and the broth from it made a better dipping sauce for the parrillada above than its own accompaniments. It also runs 1300 pesos, $36. That ain't cheap - though they do have an individual sized version for, if I recall correctly, 750 pesos, or $21.... We had, at my suggestion, added in a platter of "grilled vegetables" - which turned out to be a rather stodgy small bowl of potatoes and sweet potatoes, and fennel, that didn't seem to be off the grill, but just simply from the oven. The one disappointment in terms of quality for the meal, and at 210 pesos, $6, kind of a waste. Add on the usual beverages, and a cubierto charge that's now up to 50 pesos apiece (from 16 five years ago - so in dollar terms, it's actually less, having dropped from $2 to $1.40), and with tip, lunch ran us 1050 pesos, $29, apiece). Expensive, but not at all outrageous, especially for seafood of this quality. Still highly recommended. read more

Great mariscos risotto! Small serving sizes compared to the standard in South America however it was just enough for us. My boyfriend had the seafood spaghetti which had a sweet tomato sauce. Upon arrival you're given 2 shots of a sweet wine (this isn't free btw, you get $60pesos added to your bill at the end) and a basket of a selection of bread and dips (assuming this is also not free, we didn't touch it as it was a lot of bread and having been through Italy we knew what was going on here..) Interesting interior decor, very elaborate, food itself I'd give 9/10 Service 8.5/10 (I don't like places that force items on you only for a surprise bill addition later on, especially since they don't take foreign credit card payments here and it was our sat night in BA so only had a certain amount of cash left in pesos to pay with, needed to know exactly how much we were spending!) the waitresses despite not speaking English were really nice and patient with our broken Spanish though. read more

This is a great restaurant for seafood in BA! We ate here two times in a 9 day trip. Large portions of great tasting food. There is a great steakhouse across the intersection which has the same owners. We ate there too and learned we could order from both restaurants while seated in either. This was wonderful because our beef eaters and our seafood eaters could both be satisfied with great choices. Great service, good food, good wine selections and reasonable prices! read more
