So glad i found this place on yelp! In search of a really good authentic parilla, I decided to try out my somewhat sometimes trusty yelp app. I tend to trust the locals more than the tourists as to what connotes good food in their country and so relied on the 7 positive reviews from the Porteños - and sooooooo glad I did. As the name implies secret parilla does not have a sign outside and all the windows are blacked out - however look for the address and listen for the clanking of plates and glasses and lots of happy chatter and you will find the door to the entrance. Just ring the bell and head in. What's great about this place is that is it very local, we were the only non locals there. Most of the seats on the first floor were reservation only but fortunately we were able to get seated on the second floor in the Miranda. As in any good asado we ordered the usual - chorizo, morcilla, molleja, chinchulin, and then for the main cut we decided on the bife de chorizo - with all these meat we had to garnish it with a salad for ruffage and a nice Malba Malbec with soda to wash it down. First the atmosphere was great - just a regular place with locals getting together wth their friends... Secondly the food was incredible....the meats were all delectable - really this is what a good parilla is, the waitress were really nice, and it's at a price that will make you smile. I definitely recommend getting off the beaten path and discover the secret parilla

One star for the creative experience of making it feel like a top secret local experience. You arrive and it looks like a closed business of some sort. No sign outside. No way to tell there a whole busy restaurant going on. I felt like child included in the big kids club of food wonder hehehe. Two stars because their quantities are HUGE. My God. My boyfriend ordered what he thought was one order of beef for him and one order of rabas (calamari ) for me as a side. Figure we cut the ribeye in half and share. Then one order of wine. What we got was TWO FAT SLABS of beef, I had to do a double take and ask repeatedly "is this one order? This is one order? One order is all this?" She got a kick out of my shock. The calamari was a serving for like four people. And the wine was a little bottle that served about two and a half glasses of wine. It took us two hours to eat half of our food. We had to take the rest to go. You definitely get a bang for your buck. I subtract 2 stars because our waitress was too busy to attend us. I had a hard time getting her attention as she buzzed around and when I finally got her, she was so quick to run off before I could finish making my request. I had to tell her wait wait don't leave. I'm not done. Also, this conversation. Me: can i have sauce for the calamari? Waitress: okay. What kind of sauce do you want? Me: what do you got? :) Waitress: we don't have any :) Me: lol. Ranch? Waitress: nope. Me: mustard? Waitress grabs a bottle and places it on our table. But the table over has sauce! On top of that, when we paid the bill with cash cause they don't take credit, the waitress kept the change without even asking if she could. Not like we weren't going to tip her. I used to waitress and I know how hard it can be, but I also understand that tipping is earned and not expected so I always give people their change back no matter how much it is. It's their money to make the choice. After waiting a while for our change we asked for the receipt to give her a clue that we expect our change. She came back with the receipt clearly stating she helped herself to a tip. That's just rude. Idk if she thought we were dumb tourists who wouldn't know better or if she really felt she deserved it. We were going to tip you lady, even though you were not that good of a waitress because I saw you were also busy. You could have gotten a bigger tip if you would have brought my change back. You guys, make sure you give exact change if you want to decide how much you want to tip. Food flavor: it was okay. Nothing amazing. Calamari batter was meh. Beef was plain. Id say go more so for the experience of secrecy and huge servings.

it respects the name by making you knock on a very obscure and essentially unmarked door ( I was early and even though I knew the address, I couldn't find the place).

The places were loud and the music was not cohesive to the ambiance. We luckily found the Harrison Speakeasy and we had such a wonderful time. It's open late and really gives the speakeasy vibes that so many "speakeasies" are lacking these days. The music was great. The DJ was very impressive and played a nice array of music. Seamlessly mixing old and new salsa and more. The drinks - we finally had some good drinks here! I was so happy after the previous bars we had been to. The only downside here was that we got there and were having such a good time, then it closed and we were left wanting more. It was such a nice time and I really appreciated the opportunity to visit during our trip!

It was a bit funny seeing another country's interpretation of "American culture" but I think Harrison nailed it - from the New York newspaper menus to the classy interior to the expertly made cocktails. I could not decide on the cocktail menu, so the bartender asked me what my preferences were. She whipped up a mint banana drink and it was SO AMAZINGLY GOOD. Like one of the best cocktails of my life. AND it was only $6!! (Granted, all the cocktails in Buenos Aires are $6 USD) During my visit to Buenos Aires I also tried two of the "world's top 50" bars: Tres Monos and Floreria Atlantico. Honestly, I think Harrison has them both beat in terms of ambiance and beverage. Wonderful experience and I will definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

I tried at least 7 different styles of Argentinian craft beer, from IPAs to lagers and dark beer with a chocolate and cherry taste. The "Guten Irish Red" tastes like a mixture of cider and beer. I loved the atmosphere, very safe and tourist friendly. The staff speaks English. I sat with the chef and he was an amazing person. He really is a talented one.

For the average American patron, the draft beer selection might not be terribly impressive, since there are mostly beer brands like Stella, Blue Moon, Dos Equis, and Sam Adams, but considering just about no other bars in the area serve these beers, it's actually kinda cool. Also, it's not like there aren't a few other brands as well, so you can certainly find something that you haven't seen before. Anyways, I can see how a lot of American ex-pats would come here for a taste of home. The beer selection can be seen on the large chalkboard menu on the back wall behind the bar. You won't miss it, because it is an impressive, immense work of art. We didn't order any food, but it seems like there's a lot of American pub food available like burgers and fries. The prices were pretty awesome, with a pint costing you AR$50, and a half-pint at $AR30. Not too shabby in my opinion. The staff behind the bar is pretty attentive and quick, and a majority have pretty good English, so you don't have to worry too much about embarrassing yourself with broken Spanish. I didn't really see Buenos Aires as having a very big beer bar culture, but this visit really changed my views. That isn't to say that I think that beer culture has taken over, but the fact that places like this exist and that they're uber popular is definitely a sign that things could be trending that way. It'll be cool to see if that type of culture develops in the coming years. Cash only.
