Only tried out the to go side. They weee quick. I tried the dessert item focaccia with Nutella on it. Couldn't even tell there was bread under it. Different. The pizza 4 cheese flavors of the cheeses were excellent didn't love the crust. Not super happy when tourist come in, not the friendliness place. read more

This historical restaurant is absolutely a must if you're in La Spezia. La farinata is a simple mixture of chickpea flour and water. Best pizza and farinata I've ever eaten. If you are ever in La Spezia eat at La Pia. The locals love it.

I read in multiple guides that this is the place to go to try typical Ligurian farinata, so off we went on a weekday afternoon. For only a few euros, they'll cut you a sizable slice of this delicious salty fried chickpea deliciousness, heat it up, wrap it in paper, and serve it to you. It's very salty and pretty oily (that oil soaks through the paper pretty quickly), but it makes a really hearty snack. It almost takes cheesy but without any cheese. I imagine with a cold beer, or after more than a few drinks, it would be even better. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else, so if you're in La Spezia, definitely make this place a quick detour. read more

We arrived in Italy and were really wanting to try some authentic Italian pizza. Our air bnb host recommended we go to La Pia. The pizza here is DELICIOUS, and is truly authentic. The servers are extremely friendly and our food was served fresh and hot. We have already been back!! Prices are also extremely affordable! read more

Ok with this review I can only compare pizzas we have had in the states to this. My wife and I will both say that this was the best pizza we have ever had with its simple ingredients. Pesto, Mozzarella and sauce, it was delicious! Great place, very quick and priced cheap. Me and my girl got a medium pesto faranita and medium soft cheese faranita to start which was pretty great, but you are better off splitting a large! she got a black olive pizza and I got a spicy salami pizza, closest thing to pepperoni you will find. The pizzas with toppings come only in 1 size which is like a small personal pizza, the small/med/big sizes are for just cheese slices with no toppings. We also got 1liter of the house white wine for only 7.2€ pretty decent price!!! Altogether it was round 24€ there is a .80€ per person service fee which is totally fine for something this good. They also have an English menu and can speak enough to take your order just fine. read more

This is the first restaurant we've tried in La Spezia and it is fantastic! I can's vouch for all of the items on the menu but if they are anything like the 'prosciutto e fungi' or the 'pesto e stracchino' pizzettes then I would say you should head there now and enjoy yourself a great meal! We've been there twice in 2 days and ordered pizzettes on both days. I highly recommend it and hope that if I ever come back to this city I will enjoy more of their food. read more

Easily the best pizza and service we've had so far in Italy. The owner personally greeted us and took our order - we told him we'd like whatever he recommended. He brought my husband and I each a slice of margarita pizza and it was incredible. I wish I'd thought to take a photo before I started eating but it was that good! First time to ever have walked out of a place, so cannot rate the food since we never got close to ordering. We entered around 6:45, found a seat and waited. And waited. And waited some more. And watched as one waiter handled the whole place, which was full of what appeared to be mostly local people on a busy Saturday night. Anyone who has worked in the restaurant business, as I have, would know that acknowledgement of the customer is critical, especially in a short staffed situation as this obviously was, to customer forgiveness and understanding. We got none. It is equally well known that a higher proportion of people with unsatisfying experiences are more likely to write reviews than even those with great ones. I finally got the runner's attention for the Wi-Fi password, since it looked like we were going to have some time to kill. She gave it to us, but offered no further assistance, nor did another gentleman who passed us every few minutes, but who seemed to have no other customer interaction than delivering drinks. After about 30 minutes, the server showed up, provided menus, literally tossed the silverware on the table and ... well, just walked away. No inquiry about drinks or if we might be ready to order. The deal breaker was when food was delivered to the adjacent table of a trio of young Italian girls who had come in a good 20 minutes after us (and had received their menus in short order). That was the signal to us that it was time to spend our money elsewhere. While I initially had a bit of empathy for the poor server, it evaporated quickly. I read other reviews of this place that praise the service and friendliness of the staff. Sad to say that this was not on display tonight. We were looking forward to eating at La Pia, as it came highly recommended by our host in La Spezia. Perhaps this is a one time event, but check your expectations at the door. read more

Super informal and popular pizzeria with locals (they have take-out, too). This is one of the few places you'll find pan-style pizza (so thick crust) cooked in a wood oven. The farinata (savory garbanzo bean crepe-like appetizer or side) is pretty epic, too. It's different from your typical Italian pizzeria experience but it's delicious in its own right! read more

After searching for a long time for some takeout, we can across La Pia and decided to get some farinata after we saw the long line. If you've never tried Farjnata (a chickpea flatbread typically eaten plain) you must, and this is certainly the place to do so. While waiting on line they must have gone through three or four whole pies of the stuff, which are each about 20 inches wide. When we finally got our Farjnata, it was crisp and tasty and worth every second of the wait!!! read more
