The corner liquor store gave terrible customer service--being rude and insisting I couldn't buy wraps even though I'm legally allowed to

This Northgate location has been a good local Mexican market to shop for everyday groceries and…read morespecialty items. It has a local feel with a clean store and efficient checkout stations. The prices are fair and competitive with other supermarkets. There are always sales and discounts to help you save money. I like making my own salsa and hot sauces, and there is a huge selection of fresh and dried chilies and peppers. The produce section is also well-stocked, and the fresh corn and flour tortillas are another plus. There isn't a food court here, but the ready-prepared foods and carniceria (meats) counter has a lot to offer. I sometimes get the warm tamales, hot chicken, or some of the marinated meats. The freshly baked goods offer plenty of choices. I'll also grab an ice-cold agua fresca when I swing by the ready-made food area to enjoy on the way home. The staff has been kind for the most part, and it does get pretty busy on the weekend and especially during seasonal times. I usually go early during the week to spend less time in the lines or waiting for my number to be called at the carniceria counter.

This is close enough where I could get stuff but not have to drive all the way to Costa Mesa to get my Mexican food. The prices are not really reasonable but if you don't know how to make a good marinated Carne Asada that this is the place to go. 1499 per pound for flap meat, which is quite crazy expensive. Service is pretty seamless, but they are not really willing to help other than unless you ask them. They have great pre-packaged salsa beans and rice for your quick purchase and the place is always full. Parking is decent and easy.

When I walked in, I saw that the entrance/exit doors had gates to prevent shoplifting. I can't believe how much this place has changed over the years. It honestly makes me feel like this was the first time being here. As for renewing my registration and license tag, this was my first time doing this and I had to ask the security lady if she could help me, and she happily did. After I had some difficulties, I started screaming like Malcolm from Haunted House 2 when his believed dog got crushed by a heavy suitcase, and he dramatically tried to revive her. That's what my scream sounded like when I was frustrated, except I didn't revive a mushed dog and my scream wasn't that loud. But the security lady was caring and kind, and she helped me out. Within minutes, I was able to figure out how to use the kiosk without my dad having to do all the work for me. Eventually, I was able to get my new registration and a new license tag in the process. I thanked her.

Big parking lot where you can secure your car for free. Lately, it is really hard to find help with the flowers section. It's not staff's fault. I blame late stage capitalism.
