I knew I just wanted pizza so I didn't peruse the menu too much but the pastas also look good here! I ended up ordering the 4 cheese pizza. It was soaking w cheese (just how I like it). Good location, friendly staff, has the historical vibe inside of an older, classier Cannes. Pizzas were okay, good crust, but too much cheese for my liking - serviceable. The moules mariniere however were excellent - a good heaping portion served along with chips. Beer was cold and crisp. Good lunch spot for the cruise-based tourists but more adventurous eaters will be better served elsewhere. read more

We immediately noticed the giant half pizzas sitting in front of other diners, figuring out that their typical pizza is served as a half pizza. My counterparts all ordered pizza. They all looked great. The piece I tried was good, especially the crust, but it was a bit greasy. I got the lasagna. It seemed to have been made with some sort of spinach pasta (didn't affect the taste at all). Overall it was decent, but didn't quite have the distinct layers like a typical lasagna does. Also seemed to be lacking the traditional ricotta cheese. Plenty of menu options though, and portions were huge. They were amazing for years, but now? Not so much, and what a sad end to a famous, formerly hot restaurant. We go to Cannes about every other summer, and this past August, took two Cannes first-timers here. We ordered four different half moon pizzas and all of them arrive looking like they had been sitting around for an hour: barely hot, cheese was thick and solid, dough was tough, very hard to cut and required a LOT of hard pressure sawing. (Their knives are all dull as spoons from decades of use.) Why would our pizza seems so "stale" when there are men literally making pizza next to a woodburning oven nonstop in the front, for all to see? Weird. I don't understand why it doesn't have five stars - okay, maybe it's the long wait because it's always full and waiters aren't the best but I've eaten pizza everywhere in the world and nothing compares to La Pizza - the taste, texture and sauce is nothing you've ever eaten. Right down at the waters edge, near the cannes palais du festival and I'm thinking... "this is going to be expensive", the place is busy and the staff are bustling about like they are going to be waaaay too busy to talk to any new customers. On wifeys insistence we persevered (she knew the place of old) and we were surprisingly quickly seated and settled. The menu is big but full of all sorts of good pizzas and fish, service was fast and efficient. Myself and junior had pizza - they were HUGE and tasty and with enough left overs (which were duly boxed upon departure) to tide us over in the evening. Stopped in for pizza to go for lunch so that I could go back to my hotel and work in my room. The pizzas they turn out here all look fabulous. Unfortunately the menu is entirely in French so I just went with the margarita pizza as I couldn't make out the rest of the toppings. (And I really didn't want to stand there googling all of the translations). The pizza to go was 11.90€ and it is actually a half of a large pizza (like 4 slices of NY pizza). It was very crisp and delicious. I do believe a mixture of cheese was used - not just mozzarella but I couldn't make out the other cheese(s) - but very tasty. The service was polite and prompt and the pizza maker very personable. I've been visiting Cannes for the past 12 years, (business) three times a year. This is the place I go to for my arrival dinner and it puts me in a blissful pizza induced coma within 2 hours of eating. I only get the pizza, and only the pizza margherita. I've had slices of others, but this is my go-to. Service is wonderful - they're French, so don't take the side glances and light mockery as an insult; it means you're family. There are French and English menus & you just need to ask. When it's busy, expect a bit of a wait, but it will be worth it. I tried a few other menu items, but to be honest, wasn't impressed, but to be fair, it's not the establishment's specialty, and pizza is. I'm giving them a five for pizza and pasta considering the location and relative value. We were here during the Cannes film festival. The pizza is thin-crust wood-oven pizza and it was excellent. The pasta was cooked al-dente with Calamari with a nice light tomato and olive oil. They brought spicy olive oil in addition. We had coffee afterwards and that was excellent too. 15 Euro for pasta and 12 or more for pizza was an amazing price for the area. Location is across the sea with a nice breeze if you sir outside. We were visiting Cannes as one of our cruise destinations and one of the locals recommended this place. We initially wanted to try French cuisine, since we were in France but decided to go with the recommendation. We were not disappointed. We ordered pizza and a pasta dish to share, which ended up being a wise decision as portions were huge! The pizza was so good... we chose a combo of meat and mushroom, and the crust was just the right thickness. The pasta was equally as good and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Even with wine we paid much less than we would have back in the states. They also had free WiFi that was reasonably fast. This was one of the highlights of our visit. read more

If you're looking for a good pizza in Cannes, you could do far worse than eating at La Pizza. My wife and I had dinner there last night and we were very happy with our choices: She ordered the pizza a l'aubergine (eggplant pizza) while I opted for the four cheese pizza. We both agreed mine was better, but hers was also excellent. We accompanied our meal with a nice bottle of Domaine Ott red wine.
