Previous reviews mentioned this venue serves as a bar, dance club, comedy club, and concert setting all into one. And they are correct in that regards. There is also an upstairs area with an outside patio if you want to catch some fresh air or take a smoke break. As for the inside stage area, it has some nice sound quality although it can get hot due to the amount of people it can pack inside. Ballyhoo! drew quite the crowd which I'm not surprised with. There's a bar in the main lobby area and in each room where it's full bar and a decent amount of beers on tap. Drinks are pricy as it's during shows so dont' expect dive-bar prices when you're planning to get your drink on here. I'll probably be here for future shows should I find any artists that suit my music/comedy tastes.

Very impressed by Sparkle City Disco as the opening act as they played classic disco infused by their own styles. Moon Taxi was amazing as well. They get the crowd into their shows and the energy was off the charts. As for the venue, the shows are on the second floor so be prepared to climb some steps. It has a bar and merchandise table next to the stage and there's plenty of standing room to watch the performance. Standing only from what I saw so wear your most comfortable shoes. Location is in EaDo next to a few bars and eats so it makes for an adventurous night in town. Look forward to more shows here; now they need to book some solid upcoming artists!

I've also been to a couple concerts in the big room like Miguel and most recently Masego. The bigger room is one huge space. It has two bars, one on either side of the stage. You also can go into the smaller room to get drinks in that bar as well. It has a lot less foot traffic and the bathroom in that side is typically cleaner than the main room. Drinks prices are average to what most lounges charge. $8 for a 16 oz beer can and around $15-17 for a drink. Depends on what you get. More if it's a double. You have to get there really early to have time to park and get close enough for a good view. Parking can be crazy and expensive especially if there is an Astros game or a dynamo games going on that day. Sunday there was a soccer game and it took us about 40 min to park. We looked for street parking first, which there was none. And all the lots were up charging because of the games. The one closest to this venue was charging $30! So we found one like 4 blocks away for $15. Wear some real comfortable shoes with good cushion and arch support because you will be standing the whole time. It honestly sucks being short or average height trying to fight for a view. You have to get there right when doors open in order to get close enough to have a fighting chance at having a good view. But who wants to stand for an hour before a concert starts? Doors opened at 7. By the time we got ready, found parking, waited in like and got inside it was about 8:30 and the first act had already started. I've tried to do the window thing where you stand in the middle behind too people. I was able to see for a little while but people of course jam, dance and move. So I couldn't see the whole time. I've had instances where people push past you to get closer and it makes the space tight. At least the sound is good. So even though I couldn't see the whole time, I heard the music clearly. Masego was awesome! I love his music. And I love when artists sound the same as they do when they record music. He is super talented.

I don't remember them serving food while I was there, but the drinks were definitely flowing. The bartender was friendly and quick with the mixes -- no long waits at the bar, which is always a plus when the place starts getting busy. The energy really picked up once the house music got going. The DJ kept the crowd moving, and the whole space felt lively without being overwhelming. I also appreciated that they had plenty of seating, including booths for groups who wanted to sit back, catch up, and still enjoy the music. It's a solid spot whether you're there to dance or just hang out with friends.

It's small enough that you can actually feel close to the artist, which makes the experience much more personal than a huge arena. I love being up close and personal with the talent, and HOB is one of those places where that's actually possible. The venue has a good concert atmosphere without feeling overwhelming, and I've always enjoyed the energy of the crowd. It's easy to see why so many artists stop here when they want a more intimate show. Overall, it's a solid venue for what I go for.

Vibes are chill, beer selection is vast, they have some nice frozen drinks and cocktails as well. There's almost always some sort of event going on so it's a nice place to just stop by and check out if you have some time to chill. I've liked that there are random events and they can be hit or miss. Sometimes there's interesting musical guests, sometimes there are various vendors, sometimes there's a movie night. Regardless, I know I have a pretty good time and will be treated kindly by all the staff.

The upstairs DJ area a little dingy but fear place to cool down. A little hot for the summer heat but can't wait to hang here often when fall rolls around. Not a smile nor was he friendly! Now it's $20.00 for a seat, the cover is about $10-12.00 dollars. My question is how they know who paid for seats at all! I seen people just sitting down! Then there was a drunk old man walking around harassing everyone, to the point the band had to ask him to stop and chill out! The place gives you old vintage but can be upgraded. Huge back looks scary and is too dark and so loud. One pool table, the back bar needs to be taken out! I love the ban last night but couldn't hear them sing some songs! I couldn't hear the next day! They need some serious adjustments to the loud instruments. Get rid of the mean, rude dude at front door who's taking the money! Customer service is key to success! I seen people why that establishment is not crowed. The only catering to certain customers. Not everyone is welcome.

They also have a dedicated parking lot. They do have a small kitchen that have food here. But it is all about the concert venue here now. Some part of the venue is not really handicap friendly here. The venue is much more legit compare to back then.

Fortunately when I arrived, I followed the sign to the gate area where there's a more open area for bands to play in an outside covered area. The merchandise tables are on the left when you walk in. Go further to the left and there's a walk-up bar, seating, a small food stand and restrooms behind the bar area. Concerns eased! Had a blast watching the show which included Joey Harkum as the opener and then the Kyle Smith band as the middle act before the main act. The crowd brought awesome energy and all the bands crushed their performances. Plus the floor is very close to the stage so I was able to be up front and center to where you could slap hands with the performers if they feel like it. Only issue is parking. I heard the stories about the parking situations here and noticed that people had trouble parking or trying to figure out if they would be towed. I'd recommend doing lyft/uber here so it's one less headache to worry about. Look forward to more shows here!
