I jumped-off a morning with La Playa. I got their bacon, egg & cheese croissant & it was INCREDIBLE. It was exactly what I needed. Plenty of bacon, the egg was scrambled & the cheese melted right along with the flaky croissant. I helped my streaky week of having espresso by getting some here as well. I love this market!!! On our way to enjoy a beautiful sunny day in Miami, we realized we forgot alot of needful things. We were going to stop at a gas station but their prices are a little ridiculous. I mean $5 for the smallest bag of ice I've ever seen...I think not! So we kept driving and stopped when we saw this store....perfect! This store not only had the ice we forgot at a normal price but they also had the big bottles of wine we also needed. This market is perfect for that last minute necessity. Alot of locals were coming in to buy regular groceries like bread, avocado, and fruit. They also have a cafeteria serving hot fresh plates of food that smelled delicious. The chicharrones smelled and looked amazing..next time I told my stomach. They have all the normal things a convenience store would have and more. Forgot sunscreen, a hat, or maybe some beach toys like a pale and shovel for the little ones, they got it! Need some dip for those chips, grab it, plastic cups for your drinks, great, keep the beach clean, you need oil for your car, yep they got that to! I walked out of here with more treats and things we would need to enjoy our day. It's good to know if we ever forget anything again we can count on coming to this store. Forget the gas stations and other stores with their ridiculous prices. Everything here is reasonable and they carry everything you need for these beautiful beach days and then some! read more

I love this place. I had been gone six months and I had been welcomed like I was family. Great sandwiches, great hot food, and the woman who with glasses whi make the cafe con leche could teach the baristas at Starbucks a thing or two. The store tries to carry a little bit of everything to service the neighborhood's needs. The range is Boar's head meats, cleaning supplies, tobacco-good cigars, ice cream, beverages, sushi, milk, good produce, candy, and personal hygiene. OMG! I love this place! I've been going to this place for the past 10 years and the food, service, and staff are wonderful! It's nice having a small grocery store in the South of Fifth neighborhood. The staff is friendly, courteous and professional. I've gotten hot breakfast and hot lunch here many times, and it's always been yummy yummy to the tummy. It has that home cook feeling for sure. The grocery store is well stocked with fruit, veggies, meats, juices and what not. The only issue is parking. What an amazing place! In addition to being a market, it also has a terrific kitchen for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast sandwiches are made to order and can feed two people. Lunch is a buffet of home-cooked Cuban food served in generous portions at amazing prices. A great little store for picking up whatever you need from drinks to local food. I was staying the night in South Beach right down the street so every time I needed something I would come here. The service was good, the prices were decent and there was a long line of people waiting for some local food. I didn't get any food but it did look damn good. I love little mom and pop stores like this. Forget going to Walgreen's because this place feels more like home. This place has great breakfast sandwiches for a great price! It is carry out only. They also have a wonderful Cuban hot case (cafeteria style) that looks great but I have only tried the breakfast sandwiches thus far. Based upon the large number of Cuban construction workers coming in to pickup their hot lunch from this place I feel that it's safe to say it will be good. 1/3 of my normal breakfast bill for two people at this place with just as good a quality as surrounding sit down restaurants. Awesome find, thanks to Joseluis. The cafeteria is delicious. There seems to be a mix of Dominican and Cuban food. The prices were very reasonable, definitely the best on the beach. A completa is just under 6 bucks. The arroz moro is delicious, the pollo asado is flavorful and tasty too. There are always plenty of options as well. The day my boyfriend and I went, they had costillas de cerdo, masitas de puerco, pollo asado, and one other thing i can't remember, arroz moro, veggie medley, maduros, and another side I can't remember, plus a selection of croquetas and sweet pasteles. The lady at the cafeteria line was nice enough and patient. She got some tourist before us who kept changing their minds on stuff so much that I wanted to kick them out of the place, but she kept her cool, showing only minor annoyance, especially by Miami standards. You need to either speak Spanish at the cafeteria or have your pointing finger ready. She is patient with that. The lady at the register, however, isn't exactly the friendliest. As far as the grocery store part, they have just about everything you could possibly need from cheeses to juices, spices, a plethora of fresh fruit, lots of yogurt options, milk, detergent...seriously, everything. Prices are surprisingly reasonable for everything, considering that this place has the look of a convenience mart more than a full supermarket. I felt super lucky to have this place so close to where I was staying. I had everything I needed just a few blocks away. They accept cards too, which is an added convenience. The Snapper with rice and plantains are all I pretty much get, ive tried other things but my taste buds just keeps bringing me back to the snapper! Cute little market in South Beach. We shopped here multiple times during our trip. There was a somewhat limited selection, but it works for basics if you're not too picky. This market is a great place to stock up on some essentials when you have a kitchen in your hotel/AirBnB/etc. They're a little pricey, but when you need paper towels or lunch meat, it's a great resource. They also have some great snack selections, including cassava strips that were quite tasty. We purchased some con-leches from this place one morning, and they weren't too bad - the sugar didn't dissolve all the way so it was all at the bottom. Otherwise not too bad. We also got lunch here at the food counter, and it was quite tasty. The boiled vegetables were a little watery and could have used some salt, but it was nice to be able to find a Paleo/GF option so close to where we were staying. There is a distinct paucity of vegetables among many restaurants in SoBe, so it was nice to find a good variety - it had broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, yellow squash, and zucchini. The roasted chicken was very tasty, and sweet plantains are always good. I had a taste of the yellow rice, and it was tasty, too. It was a little pricey for lunch, but still cheaper than a restaurant. Definitely recommend this place if you need a household good or if you need a quick lunch. read more

Best bang for your buck in South Beach. $5 for a heaping pile of chicken, rice, beans, empanadas, and anything else you order that can fit into a container. Everyone was friendly.
