I had an appointment and was looking forward to trying this place out. I arrived for my appointment and was checked in at the front desk. The lady at the front desk was friendly and welcomed me since it was my first time there she walked me to the waiting area. I sat in the waiting area for the entire duration of what was supposed to be my booking time. Eden never came out to provide the service that I was booked for. I went back to the front desk and told them that I was leaving because I had to be somewhere and that I was expecting to be done in the allotted time for my appointment. She said "oh she never came out and got you" and I said no that's why I'm leaving. Needless to say this was not a good first experience and I was very disappointed. read more

I have curly hair and have left previous hair salons usually not thrilled with my results over the years. I was ecstatic with my results with Cheyenne! I'll let the pics speak for themselves. I think the initial colorist (inbox me for name if desired) meant well but just didn't have the skillset and tenacity or motivation for the job. Bit off more than she wanted to chew? The salon manager (name if desire) was easy to deal with empathetic understanding and very service and solution oriented. First solution option was a consult with the color educator in traiing. Didn't feel the confidence with his solution consult. Wasn't offered a consult with owner/stylist (not sure why). Wasn't comfortable proceeding. Decided to shift focus from MY hair (I got it corrected elsewhere) to the botched halo. The other (front desk?) manager (Jessica) who was delegated to communicate the solution to me (refund thank god) when I asked what I could have done to garner a better outcome told me that I should have had my hair colored first (it was), that the $350 (100% markup) HaloCoiture Remy hair shouldn't have been colored in the first place (your salon did it, not me, it and jacked it up twice) and more or less that my hair color now IRL didn't match the picture I showed them lol. I came here for a haircut a few months ago, and unfortunately it was one of the more upsetting experiences that I've had at a hair salon. I was nine months pregnant at the time of my visit and came in asking for my hair to be cut short but still long enough that I could put it back into a bun or a ponytail. Since I was about to have my first baby I didn't want my hair to be something that I was worried about or that got in my way and so I decided that getting it cut short where it would be more easily manageable would be the best option. From the moment that my stylist picked me up from the waiting room and brought me back she seemed unhappy to be there and to be working with me. I'm not sure if she just had a difficult day but she made it clear that she was not happy to have to do my hair. I told her that I wanted to cut a significant amount of length off of my hair, just enough so that I would still be able to pull it back. And maybe it's my fault for not being clear, but at previous haircuts stylists have usually asked me about wanting layers or face framing etc and have worked with me during the consult to create a plan for a flattering cut. This stylist did not ask me any of that and went straight to washing my hair and bringing me back over to the chair. She then proceeded to just cut my hair straight across in a line and then give me probably the roughest and fastest blowout that I've ever had. I left with frizzy, poofy hair cut straight across in a line that made me look and feel 100x worse than when I had arrived. I guess maybe the take away is that if you come here for a haircut, make sure that you're really clear about every single thing that you want and don't expect the stylists to work with you to create a look that will be flattering on you. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! My experience was quite devastating. I normally wouldn't write anything bad about anyone or anyplace online unless I find it absolutely necessary. This is necessary. They didn't make me pay for this TERRIBLE experience but the next day I went and got my hair fixed. The color, cut, and even had to buy extensions. I spent my night (this is embarrassing but true) laying on the floor crying because the beautician (Katie) cut my hair too much without asking. I keep blaming myself because I should have asked how much she was planning on cutting off but since I felt COMFORTABLE and TRUSTING after our first initial consult that they insisted I come in on a separate day for, I didn't ask. I was too comfortable that the girl knew what she was doing and understood what I wanted. I CLEARLY STATED that I wanted balayage around my face to brighten my already lighter brown hair and long layers. AT NO POINT did I mention to trim or cut the length. She did just that. My hair was so so long. Probably 22". If anyone has long hair they understand how important and hard it is to get it to that point and obviously I must love it being that long. By the time I realized, it had been too late. She didn't know what she was doing with my layers either. Anyone with a brain should know in order to cut long layers you MUST bring the hair upwards. She cut my layers at an angle lower than my shoulders. At that point I stopped her, wet hair and all. I got home, blow dried, and straightened it to make myself feel a little better but the truth is, you can't fix what she's done. My hair was so dark it was almost black, I never said I wanted my hair anywhere near the color it turned out. The balayage was randomly placed and not smudged out at all. If anyone knows anything about hair, a smudge technique should have been done. It wasn't blended and the color looked orange. I also don't think she toned my hair and if she did, you couldn't tell. She not only gave me a bad experience but she has made it so I had to be away from my 2 month old daughter for another day to fix what she's done. I have had the worst experience when all I wanted was a couple hours of self care not what's been two days of a nightmare away from my daughter. Now I am spending money on extensions to get my hair back to where it was. She should be fired or retrained. My hair looks AMAZING now thanks to LOGAN Hair Studio. Go there. :) read more

The worst salon experience of my LIFE. I had long dark hair that I had been dying burgundy at home. I wanted to try blonde for the first time. I had a consultation appointment with Elizabeth - the purpose of this was so she & I would be on the same page. I wanted to gradually lighten my hair and start by using color remover first before any bleach. She said sure, no problem, the first visit would take about 2.5 hours. She came across as extremely rude, stuck up, & not friendly at all. I gave her the benefit of the doubt & I completely regret it. The first visit took almost SEVEN hours, not 2.5. She didn't care about what I wanted and put like 10 lbs of foil in my hair even though I NEVER SAID I WANTED HIGHLIGHTS & the reference photo I showed her had ZERO highlights. I trusted her, I thought, "maybe this was just how you get hair blonde." NOPE. Because she used foils instead of painting the product directly on the hair, the right side of my head had bleach on it for about 45 minutes longer than the left side of my head! The end result? My hair was about 20 different colors! I had some parts almost white, some parts ORANGE, some parts brown, others almost black. It looked HORRIBLE. It looked like what someone would do at home and go into a salon asking them to fix! I have no idea what her problem was, but she made my hair look AWFUL. I felt sick to my stomach when I saw my hair, and the worst part? She left about 1-2 inches of my naturally BLACK roots! WHY??? She tried to fix the mistake by doing MORE foils and MORE bleach, and over processed my hair, causing lasting damage. She was extremely rough with my head and scalp, yanking & pulling my head, snapping off hair, and even though NO BLEACH TOUCHED MY SCALP, my head was extremely sore for 3 days afterwards! I felt horrible. I went there to look prettier. Instead, I left with the UGLIEST hair of my entire life. I told her I wanted to GRADUALLY lighten my hair, & I expected to have a light brown after the first session. I did NOT expect to have 20 different ugly colors in my hair. I cried all that night and was so embarrassed I wouldn't leave the house without a hat. Elizabeth has been there for almost 20 years so I THOUGHT she would be good at her job. She's either incompetent or she ruined my hair on purpose. I had to go to a different salon in Squirrel Hill and pay them 500+ dollars to fix what ELIZABETH did. She damaged my hair so badly I ended up having 8 inches cut off. I grew my hair out for 2 years before this, and it is really upsetting to lose 8 inches off my hair just because of her mistake. The only good thing is that they refunded my money, but really I feel like they should have paid to have it fixed since they're responsible for the damage in the first place! The owner of the second salon I went to made my hair pretty again. It is now a beautiful blonde, but really short, & the only real damage done to my hair was caused by the HIGHLIGHTS that ELIZABETH did. I 100% regret going to La Pomp. La Pomp is HORRIBLE, AWFUL. I feel great every time I leave, and am so comfortable while I am there because they are so welcoming. Mary is one of those people that truly listens and follows up on things that you have talked about. She is awesome, gives 150% all of the time!!! I've liked it so much that I have expanded my services and also have waxing and facials with Joann. You guys, talk about relaxation! I fall asleep every month during my facial appointment!! Meh. Massages are good, but I've had possibly the worst salon pedicure ever here. (I had polish all over my toes, and the nail techs just gossiped with each other the entire time.) I went here once or twice for hair services when I first moved to the area but wasn't impressed, either. On the other hand, my mom got her hair done here once when she was visiting me, and she loved it. Think that might be a good testament to the general vibe. Also, this is minor but irksome (and Fake Lebo called them out on this on Facebook right around when I started reading Fake Lebo). In French, the accent goes on the first e at the end of the word. As in "La Pomponnée." Their sign has "La Pomponneé," which is just wrong. (It's correct on their website.) The owner responded, blaming it on the sign company... but wouldn't you make the sign company do it over (on their dime) if they screwed up the name of your business? Aaron P. did a fantastic job on my cut and balanced out my texture and volume. The rest of the staff was friendly and the space with bright and upbeat. To second an earlier comment, they didn't offer me a tour or brochure of their services as a first-time guest -- but I didn't mind asking for them. I'll their other services and will report back. I was visiting my daughter and her family last week...made an appointment knowing little about the salon or my stylist, and was so pleasantly surprised! I walked in feeling like a hot stressed-out mess, and left feeling like a million bucks. Truly one of the best haircuts I've ever had (thanks May!!) and a wonderful experience all around -- they were even able to squeeze in my son without a prior appointment. I will be making appointments here from now on whenever I'm in Pittsburgh. Therapist clearly not comfortable or skilled about how to do this (asked me to lay flat on my pregnant belly). I have had several prenatal massages at other facilities that were wonderful. La Pomponnee, I wanted to like you. I really did. I've gone about 5 times for various services, and each time hoped to get what I felt I was paying for, but always have left rejected. Literally. The staff at La Pomp is AWFUL! Many of them are rude and act like you are a hindrance on their day even though it is their job. I have heard the staff gossiping - sometimes even about other customers - on multiple occasions. And when I've had my hair done at this salon, I am left in the middle of my hair cut so my stylist can attend to someone else, while I just sit there with my hair dripping. The one thing is (and why they get 2 stars instead of 1), is that they DO tend to do a good job on my hair. The massage I got was so-so, expensive, and ended with a sales pitch - not relaxing. But hair, they can do. I just can't make it worth my time, if it's too expensive and I feel as if I'm being kicked out the door so the staff can talk crap about me once I'm gone. I have been to a million different spas over the years (I am a facial whore!). Maybe the spas in Pittsburgh aren't as up to par as the one's I've gotten used to in San Diego. But La Pomponnee has not been a good spa experience for me for massages or hair styling. I'll be going to Stonewater from now on. read more

He has great style and great and cutting my hair to fit my face. For the price I just paid I should feel like a whole new woman! Instead, I feel pretty much the same, just $300.00 lighter. I booked an hour-long massage along with a facial after studying the website and the prices. I had a gift card to use and wanted to make the most of it. After arriving to this very high-end salon I was shown to the room where I would have both services. The room was extremely cold and not at all 'plush', which I would expect for a massage. Additionally, there were stray hairs on the massage bed and the CD player skipped throughout the massage. Overall, a nice massage but I could have had the same experience as Massage Envy. Another point, in the 10 days between when I booked my appointment and when I had my services, the price of the massage went up $10. I think that should have been made known when I arrived. After the massage was my facial; another disappointment. Overall my facial was great. I think the aesthetician was polite and did a great job working with my skin. However, I booked a certain facial at a price point I knew I was comfortable with. When I went to pay my total price (for facial and massage) was $100.00 more than what it should have been according to the website pricing. When I asked about this the receptionist informed me that the aesthetician felt I needed additional moisturizing product and went ahead and performed a higher cost service. In the end, I did not experience a service worthy of the money I spent, and I do not feel as though the salon was upfront with how they were going to charge. read more

I went in for a bang trim and Gabby did an excellent job! She lightened the weight of my hair so it wasn't chunky and tapered them perfectly. They don't need any styling, they lay perfectly because of the way she cut it. Blair did my eyebrow wax and she was fantastic also! She was super friendly and spent a lot of time on my brows: waxing, tweezing, shaping, and even using a pencil to show me how to fill in a gap. I've been going to Gabby for two years. I have loved every haircut she has given me..........with the exception of the last two. The last one left me with the WORST haircut of my life. I look like Jim Carrey from "Dumb and Dumber". She gave me a straight-up, severe bowl-cut. None of the layers blend, she didn't thin out my hair, so I have a huge mushroom shape, bangs look absolutely ridiculous, cut straight across and way too short. I called to ask to have it fixed and was told I would be put on a "waitlist." Are you kidding me? Don't know if it was complacency or just laziness. I can tell you I am never going to that salon again. Will be paying another stylist $50 to try to fix it. read more
