When the family and I got here we had the whole place to our self which was great, food was on point for myself plus the have a digital menu which helps for the pandemic highly satisfying to say the least and staff is polite and quick as well food didn't take an abnormal time to get to the table read more

I'm posting this review "out of order", passing up several I've started earlier, so I can get my impressions down accurately and then get it out of my mind. We won't be going back. We were seated promptly after we arrived, and quickly received chips and salsa. These were so-so to OK. (Why is it, BTW, that almost all Mexican restaurants reserve the basket of warm chips for your *second* basket? Why can't the first basket of chips be warm, too?) We ordered the "Cheese Dip Con Carne". This was some melted white cheese with a bunch of ground beef filling added to it. First, the ground beef appears to be their standard stuff, used in their other ground beef dishes. Second, when we've had this elsewhere, it has been a cheese dip with some meat in it. Here, it is a bunch of ground beef with some cheese in it. I thought it was OK, but wouldn't order it again. My wife thought less highly of it. (Where I've liked it better, the cheese has been "spiced up" with the addition of a small to moderate amount of chorizo.) For our main course, I ordered the "Filete Del Pacifico", which is billed as pacific Mahi-Mahi filet, grilled with Western Mexico seasonings, and served with Mango Salsa, rice, and guacamole salad. The fish filets were very thin, and quite overcooked. If they had been cooked exactly the same way, but had been twice as thick, they would have been pretty good. The seasonings were non-descript. The guacamole salad was so-so. The mango salsa gave the impression of being a few largish pieces of canned mango sitting near some pico de gallo. The rice was average. My wife ordered the Cocktail De Cameron, which is shrimp cocktail shrimp, pico de gallo, and avocado slices in a tomato sauce, all served chilled. This was pretty decent, though we have had better pretty much everywhere else we've seen it on the menu. Asking for some lime wedges and squeezing fresh lime juice into the mix, along with some hot sauce from bottles on the table improved it a notch. We also planned to share a Chile Relleno side. This arrived with a few non-descript slices of some kind of green chile swimming in a load of the same ground beef mixture we'd seen before and a bunch of white cheese. I feel confident in saying that this was by far the worst Chile Relleno I've ever had. We ended with an order of Flan. This was decent, though cooked inconsistently. Our guess is that they cooked it in a water bath, and where the water bath reached, the flan was creamy and silky. The rest of it was too firm, with bubbles, almost with a "curdled" texture, indicative of being cooked too hot and quickly. Service wasn't bad, except for our waiter going missing for a long time, leaving us wanting to order the flan, and that he did not clear any of the dishes from appetizer or main course while we were there. So, in summary, if forced back here, I would have the shrimp cocktail (with some lime wedges) and the flan. Mexican cuisine is full of interesting and complex dishes. What we had showed no complexity, no interest, no knowledge of chiles or spicing. What wasn't bad was boring. read more

Well...I cannot say I'm a huge fan of the raves about Mexican restaurant in Danville. Service is so-so. Over priced. And my all time favorite chicken fajitas ... not so yummy. The chips and salsa are very good. That's my favorite thing about this restaurant. March 2018 I have eaten at this restaurant several time since my first review. I would have to still rate it a 2. Service at the restaurant is slow. Recently, I had a steak taco. Dry and didn't have much flavor. Beer is not cold at all. Definitely need to work on that. read more

My husband and I found La Potosina while overnighting at a nearby motel. We were not enchanted by the gross trash receptacle sitting next to the front door, and showing that previous users had not bothered to use some care in disposing of some sticky, runny something. The airlock was typically furnished with a bunch of bubble gum machines and realtor's catalogs. Inside, we were immediately greeted and seated. Our drinks appeared quickly, as did a generous basket of chips (the ones on top were not warm, but the lower layers were). The salsa was lacking any discernible heat. A rack on the table held several kinds of hot sauce, so you could add your own zip to what was basically tomato purée - canned, at that. I ordered Enchiladas Rancheras, and my husband chose Guadalajarawi. My dish came with rice and the usual piece of iceberg lettuce, slice of tomato and dollop of sour cream, the rest of the plate was covered with braised beef chunks, onion and Bell pepper. The enchiladas, our server explained, were underneath. It didn't taste bad, but the cheese enchiladas were small and flat, and none of it had any spice or heat. Maybe it's a traditional combination, but it just seemed odd. My husband's meal, called Guadalajarawi, had the same accompaniments, with the addition of some guacamole on the lettuce. Again, nothing had any spiciness or heat. The service was better than the food, by a wide margin. We also enjoyed the colorful decor, the booths seemed to have been recently reupholstered, and the standard metal chairs freshly printed in a variety of mostly bright colors. Overall, a cleanup at the entrance and some heat in the food would increase the number of stars. read more

I would like to say this restaurant is so-so. I come here regularly so I know what it's capable of versus what it really is. Sometimes the food/service is phenomenal! Other times not so much. This particular visit was highlighted with super stale chips and dried out beans. Granted, I absolutely despise "bean soup," but I should not have to cut them with a knife. The Fiesta Fajitas were stellar, but the servers seemed to be more anxious to get us pushed out the door rather than concentrate on having an enjoyable visit on Mother's Day. Went on a Saturday night. Menu is huge and seems like there is like a lot of choices, but it's a lot of the same food. Slow service and no one came to our table after being seated for at least 10 mins. There were three of us that ordered different meals. beef burrito and beef enchilada...were exactly the same. Fajitas were abundant, but no flavor. Two rolled tacos covered in cheese and sauce and filled with a lot of beef...no lettuce, no tomato, no beans...like a burrito is usually made. I ordered enchiladas Yolanda which was supposed to come with some kind of salsa Supremo and it had none. Margaritas were weak and food lacked flavor, which was unfortunate for having so many choices. STAY AWAY!! They only want your money and don't care about you as a customer. I was going to the one in N. Vermilion twice a week for the last two months. The food is okay and affordable. All that changed last night when I was just finishing my meal. As soon as I put my last bite in my mouth a waitress walked by and told the staff in Spanish and loud enough for me to hear: "You need to give these people their checks so they leave". I went to her and told her that some of her customers also spoke Spanish and I understood what she said and how rude it was to see us as a dollar sign. The guy at the cash register (manager?) instead of apologizing fro her comments said that it was like that everywhere. I told him that I understood this to be a strategy to turn tables over, but not for the customers to know and feel rushed out of the restaurant. He continued defending the practice and I told him that he had just lost a customer. His answer? "It is fine by me." Not even in a fast food restaurant customers are rushed out of the door so openly. I have had some other issues in the past with their service personnel and thought it was because they were new in the position and were learning. I now realize that is not the case. They simply don't care if you enjoy your experience or not. They take the order, sometimes bring the right order, and bring the check. Nothing more. They don't even care if you come back or not. If you want to throw your money away and be treated with rudeness and a not caring attitude, this is the place to go. read more
