When it comes to certain types of food I have high expectations of it and this place meets most of it or at least when it comes to the TACOS! it's taken meet quite a while to find a place that serves really good mexican food in the Melbourne area so when I came across it on yelp I had to try it because all I kept seeing in the reviews was, AUTHENTIC AUTHENTIC AUTHENTIC!!! I had an assortment of tacos and they were all so tasty! I ordered the asada, pollo and adobada, it came with tortillas and garnished with onions and cilantro and lime wedges. Today I went in around 4:37and I got nine tacos of Asada and the young girl that is there not the old one I said that somebody's going to take my ticket and she passed right in front of me like four times and gave me a bad look and then when I ask her are you gonna take my ticket or do you work here she turns around she turned around with attitude and tells me I'm already making your food and I told her I am sorry I didn't know before I have to give you the ticket and now your order comes in I guess through your printer but I do you know that so I told her please you don't need to talk to me like that relax I didn't know you guys were receiving tickets now because before I would pay for the tacos and take the ticket to the window so for me this will be the last time I'm going there I am a chef and I've been in this business for 27 years and I do all my own food truck and that's not the way you treat people and that's not good for business need to hire better people that they can make your place a lot better when people smile I am really mad I would not go there again read more

Coming from Cali we know our Mexican Food. We live and breathe it, and along that note in my house their was always a pot of pintos beans soaking on the back burner. That being said... This place is alright. The meat is over cooked, they cook it and reheat the meat when you order it,and if its in a burrito they throw it in the microwave to melt the cheese. Hence the dry texture and over cooked feel. Now the reason for the two stars- Saturday and Sunday - Tamales and Menudo is where its AT! pork tamales and cheese tamales are OFF THE HOOK, Menudo is really good as well and super authentic. For first timers... Go inside the building and pick out a drink. Then go to the counter and order food then pay. You'll get two separate tickets. One is a receipt. One is for your food order. They do not allow phone orders and they talk about customers in Spanish. I'm going to start by saying that the cashier had their McDonalds in the pork rind hot plate. So if you order hot chicharones from there, someone's crumpled McDonald's bag was kept heated on the same plate. I placed an order over the phone on my lunch break and I was on the way to pick it up. The woman took my order in Spanish and she took my name, number, and gave me an estimate. After I paid, I waited outside for it to be made. The couple behind me got their order before I did, which I found odd. After 10 minutes (now 30 minutes after I ordered) they called my name. I asked the cook why it took so long and her response was a sassy "Well you said you were on your way, sooo." Then I spoke with the manager, who explained that they only make the food AFTER it is payed for. That is why mine was not yet ready. He said that they do not trust customers to pick up orders because *sometimes* they lose food. I found this ridiculous because EVERYYY other establishment offers takeout orders via phone or online. When I asked for my refund, he was complaining about me in Spanish to the cashier. He stated "This woman is the problem. She doesn't know how to order!" When I told him I understood him, he told me he wasn't even talking about me-- which was a lie. read more

I am originally from Mexico and every time I have the opportunity to eat real tacos La preferida os the best tacos de abodada, and barbacoa are my favorites. Also they have Menudo on Sunday(if you are hangover that is your remedy). Inside the store you can find from mexican spices all the way to cloths lol unbelievable but true. If this wasn't enough they also have a little meat market, good cuts and always fresh. Posted this under the Tacos EL Vaquero which is the same as La Preferida. The truck is located in the parking lot next to the La Perferida food store. Passed by this place many times but finally stopped today and I'm glad I did. The tacos are out of this world. True Mexican tacos, not the junk most places serve. Double hand made tortilla with fresh fillings, Cilantro, Onion and Lime...As simple as it gets but perfect. Can't wait to come back and try their other offerings. We are from SoCal, San Diego to be exact (30 miles from the Mexican border) and have super High expectations. We've tried them all from Francisco's (not too bad) to El Chico's (bland and more tex-mex). La Preferida doesn't look the prettiest on the outside but the food is delicious and could easily compete with any place in San Diego. I definitely recommend to anyone who wants authentic Mexican food, we take it to go! On a side note they give you a red and green salsa, they are both delicious and quite spicy:) read more

The best! That is all I can say about this food truck. This is authentic Mexican food, nothing like Taco Bell or Tijuana flats. It's always fresh made to order. They have some picnic tables outside but I most always just take it to go. I used to live in Melbourne & would go all the time but now that I've moved to Miami I come every time I am in town visiting family because I have yet to find any Mexican food as good. Saw the rave reviews on Facebook and Florida Today so I passed by @11am I figured I would check it out. You go inside as the Mexican music blasts away and see all the authentic goods they have and you think this could be good. You pay and you go outside to a pretty beat up food truck that does not look exactly clean let me tell ya. Plenty of lawn crew guys hanging out getting their food for the day and it's pretty cruddy out front honestly. I order 2 taco's 1 chicken and 1 beef. Their food isn't typical Mexican food from where i am used to. Some is americanized and some is different. Not my taste. I prefer cooking homemade Mexican food if i am feeling a little homesick and missing my moms Mexican food. Their store prices are a little more on the higher price for cheese and some other dairy products but they have a good variety of spices and candy.
