Okay, I've had some time to chill out and I think I can more eloquently express my issue with this place, and why I will never, ever go back. First, they claim this is a boutique, yet I've found more fast fashion here than anything else, including old Forever 21. The clothing is not curated whatsoever, or really even organized more than the basic long sleeves together, pants together, etc. Boutiques curate their clothing, display and merchandise it, and usually pay for their clothing (though not in all cases). This place is a small thrift store, but filled with women from a local church who give church ladies the reputation we all know about. Judgy, holier-than-thou, etc. I was here when they got a large donation - yes, donation - from the Johnny Carson Estate, including a ton of his wife's clothing. The pieces were vintage and in great shape, and all designer. That's awesome, good for them! Why did they fill the store with only those items, and attempt to sell them at the highest possible point in the range of their retail value? Because typically their clothing is actually pretty reasonable, this was a super surprise to myself and MULTIPLE other people in the store, all of whom were commenting on it. When I asked what was going on and if someone had lost their mind pricing items in a thrift store at $2k plus, a woman who didn't work there started attempting to belittle me for 'not knowing fabric' and not knowing the value of things. Lady, I worked in a wardrobe department for years, and resell high end vintage clothing. Further, even if I didn't, who on earth speaks to a stranger that way, and especially in a thrift store? Belittling people for not having money or knowing designer clothing is bad enough, but doing so in a store that is supposed to be for those people to be able to cloth themselves is just plain disgusting behavior. The woman in question was absolutely friends with all the women working there, and I already know that birds of a feather, so I won't be coming back to this place as I don't want to ever support women who behave like this. When I called the woman out for her behavior, she denied it, then said 'this conversation is over' because that's what narcissists do when they can't defend their actions. That woman was a disgusting jerk, and she gives that place a bad name - a name I believe it deserves, unfortunately. Avoid if possible! read more

So many wonderful finds at this shop! Glassware, dishes, costume jewelry, shoes, unique knick-knacks, books, CD's and loads of clothes. They are always shifting the merch around to make the shop even more appealing, and something always seems to be on sale. As of right now, every Thursday from 1 to 6pm, almost everything in the shop is half price. And such pretty, inviting windows! read more

Have been shopping here for years. My family would stop in once a month sometimes more and we always found great stuff for the whole family; men's, woman's and teens for great prices $20 and under. We went in yesterday to find it magically has been turned into a "boutique" with many items $400, $200 etc. only older woman clothing styles as well. They said they received a donation of clothes which is fine, but to transform the entire store into a place that is opposite of what it was just a couple weeks ago is bonkers. We unfortunately won't be shopping here anymore. Such a shame! read more

Very affordable thrift store for a fabulous cause! Got a few designer tops for $4 each & some libbey wine glasses for $5 They take donations through the back of the business and they have two parking spots to unload your donations. Parking is available via street parking. No permits required. They have a lot of merchandise for such a small location. Staff is extremely sweet and you can tell they are all there for give back to the community. Keep up the great work everyone! read more

The people here are the happiest people I've met in Burbank. This store is small, but neat, clean and packed with bargains. I didn't even know the coffee maker and panini machine was half off the already reasonable prices. It was like I hit the lottery. Lots of nice dishes, glassware and some very nice framed art. It changed, newly remodeled. And I'm not too happy , they jacked up prices omg! The pants that used to sell for 2 bucks are at a price range from 8 and up, I saw a tag for 12 bucks which few months ago would only be a buck. They dont have sale racks anymore, the half priced tag were only furnitures, and that alone was ranging ftom 50 bucks and up!! I saw a piece of furniture for 150.00 bucks. I find it ridiculous! I get it that it needs revamp, but the store was really nice to begin with, they made it trendier, wood floor , new racks, and everything is neatly placed. So that increased sale price, which in my book no longer my happy go to thrift store. There were shoppers, but all left empty handed. I didn't see the same sweet ladies from before, maybe they're off, they are volunteers you know. One lady approached me and told me to watch out for my purse, backpack, dangly that may bump a lamp or anything, I wasn't sure if that was called for . I'm not the only one with that purse! Would she be keeping an eye out for every female that walks in with that kind of purse omg. Anyway, it's over for me , this is no longer my go to. It lost its uniqueness, its affordable prices, its vintage awesome thrift store prices . I frequent this shop for years! and made it a habit to come every week on all weekends , I loved the vibe, the originality, it served me for years on my work clothes, my comfy outfits, and etc. Now thats just a memory. I am newer to thrifting and don't like the smelly, dirty feeling of many shops. I also feel like the big chains , that are organized, make buyers pay for their so called " chain" and forget the charitable aspects. I was told by a friend to visit Children's Hospital Thrift Store in Burbank and I was pleasantly surprised. I understand that no one is paid here and all workers are volunteers so my expectations for great service was low. I was very happy to see predominantly senior citizens working here and smiling. It's very clean and I wasn't offended by the pricing. Not much was over $20 and the base price was around $7-$8. I found so much and they had a blue tag discount that was 50% off!! I am a fan. I will definitely go back because I love supporting Children's Hospital. They are only open Friday through Sunday so keep that in mind. read more

Smaller thrift store right on Burbank Blvd. Easy to spot, street parkinng. The place doesn't have a lot in terms of selection, prices are reasonable. If you go during the weekend, prepare to wait outside.And you will go in the weekend since it's open F - S from 10 am to 4 pm! They allow just 6 customers inside at a time. Wear a mask. We were in a line for at least 10 minutes to get inside. The ladies working here aren't on top of things. They allowed one of us to go in, since my husband was shopping around for certain things, I let him go in. Then, 2 customers came out. I went in. The lady working there told me there's no room for me, I told her about the 2 folks that just left. She counted all of us and realized I was right. Only open a few days a week, they have great sales and the people that volunteer there are helpful and friendly. Sadly, they have gone up in prices significantly like everywhere, which I guess is the trend now. Absolutely bummed to give this place 1 star. But I would give lower if that was an option. As mentioned in some other recent reviews, that staff of women there are truly some of the most unwelcoming people I have encountered. The young men that volunteer to open up and take donations are some of the nicest kids I've met. Now.. the reason this place deserves lower than 1 star. THE PRICES. Absolutely astounding how expensive things are here now. Just last year this place was considered affordable. Now the prices are higher than most antique stores. They need to stop acting like a thrift store and own up to taking in free donations and charging astronomical prices. Totally unethical and really saddening. Used to be my favorite thrift store - quality items at great prices supporting a wonderful organization. I went today after the remodel and am not loving the changes. First, the remodel seems to consist of the cash register being moved from one side to the other and a large display case moved to the back. I had always enjoyed the great flow and how organized things were. Today, it looked cluttered and messy. Hopefully that will improve. Lastly, the prices! They have really increased!! For example, I looked at a cute blanket but wasn't interested when I saw it was marked $24 (same blanket NEW in Amazon is $29.) Pots of succulents were $60. Way over priced. I was looking for a place to donate some stuff and I found Children's Hospital Thrift Shop here on Yelp. Upon walking in, I was nicely greeted by a handful of older women that volunteer at the store. They told me to bring my stuff in the back room and thanked me for my donation. I browsed the shop for a bit and noticed how clean and organized it was. Items for sale include everything from clothing and accessories to furniture and home goods. Prices seem very fair, too! Thrifting... vintage stores... rummaging... this is not a 'type' of store. It is more of a lifestyle and talent. One needs to know what to look for, how, where, and when. It takes skills, folks! Thrifting is certainly not for everyone but is something I'm the top-dog at (see my Yelp list: "Vintage Shopping in the Valley"). The SFV and LA in generally is filled to the brim with thrift and vintage stores big and small. Chain or independents; we have them all. Add the Children's Hospital Thrift Shop in Burbank to the list. The Children's Hospital Thrift Shop (obviously) is one with full-proceeds benefiting the Children's Hospital of LA with staff being employed on a voluntary basis. Credit is given where credit is due, for that. The Children's Hospital Thrift Shop is just one of many thrift stores in Burbank (and is in fact a couple doors down from the St. Anne's Thrift Store) located on a corner lot (parking is available in the back or free residential street parking). So, why the lower rating, you ask? It's difficult to fully describe the negatives about this store because you have to be a professor in thrifting. To a novice, this spot may be decent. But if you have lived the thrifting life then you can see that this place is a huge disappointment. First of all, I will admit that the store is clean. It isn't a thrift store where you feel like you need a shower afterwards (ahem, American Way in Burbank!) and the merchandise is actually very pristine, steamed, etc. In a sense, it's almost like a boutique thrift store. The issues are that this tiny store is first off, not like a store at all. There really is no rhyme or reason to the merchandise and there is simply a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I would compare it to looking through the storage goods of your deceased grandma. Not to mention, everything is outdated and not in the "awesome vintage-score"- way but in the 90s/early 2000s way. The clothing is literally targeting old ladies and is out-of-fashion while the DVDs, household goods, etc; are simply not anything that is in demand. You can be in and out in a few minutes cause there are no gold mines here. The biggest flaw? This place is expensive as hell! Now, I support that it is a charity shop for the hospital but I can purchase new items for these prices. It's called a thrift store for a reason! It requires second-hand thrift prices! Service was lacking, as well. I was 'welcomed' (use that term lightly) with a quick hello when I was walked in by someone behind the counter but several staff members were too busy chatting with each other the whole time and never acknowledged me. I felt very uncomfortable. I'm going to be frank: this store targets women starting in the late 50s/early 60s. The staff is also within that range and I think the bottom line is is that if you are a younger customer (I am in my 30s) then this store simply isn't for you and they will let you know it. And I also firmly mean that it targets women.. there are no male-oriented goods here. Sorry, fellas! Perhaps you will like the Children's Hospital Thrift Store but there are so many better stores to try in the area (including literally a couple doors down) so I truly don't recommend wasting the 5 minutes of your life here. Skip this spot unless you are an older patron seeking outdated goods. read more

I'm downsizing and with a packed SUV I headed over to this nearby shop today to donate. Three parking spots in the back were donations are typically unloaded were taken up by two poorly parked vehicles and when I asked if that was were I needed to park to unload donations a woman told me with a huff, that those cars were there because "we're management." That seems odd, wouldn't you think that management would leave the parking spots for people to unload donations?! The woman snapped at me that it was after 4pm - "we're closed!" and then proceeded to ask what I had to donate. I responded that I had a vehicle full of boxes, and she actually snorted at me and told me to pull over in front of the vehicles that she said belonged to management; essentially telling me to block the alley and truly acting like she was going to be doing me a big favor to take my donations. As I walked to my car, I could hear her loudly telling someone at the shop "we're management!", "she thinks we're not management!" What?! The entire incident was very off-putting. Someone from The Children's Hospital needs to take a close look at what is going on with "the management" at this shop. read more

Visited on a Sunday with my daughter while I was in town. They had a really great sale going on at the time 50% off everything in the store except items on certain shelving or in cabinets as marked as well as furniture. I found two beautiful hammered aluminum trays that I got for less than $14.00. Looking forward to visiting again and finding a treasure of some sort. read more

Lady accused me of stealing a watch lol She was being extremely passive aggressive, asking "did you want a bag for that?" I was like 'for what?' She goes "for that watch you just handed off to your boyfriend!" I handed him my car keys to lock my car cause I had my $2000 camera in there. Why would I want to steal a dead watch from a CHLA thrift? LOL I told her I I did not steal and she just kept nodding her head sarcastically, which I totally did not appreciate. After that the ladies in the back started talking about how they should just re-watch the cameras to catch shoplifters. I echo the reviewer below who had an extremely offputting experience with passive aggressive staff. The people who run this shop are incredibly rude. We were shopping and told by a volunteer that shoes were one price, then quoted another and then one woman in particular proceeded to mock us in front of the entire store when we questioned the price that they rung us up for because we wouldn't support sick children. What a ridiculous situation. Terrible business practices, terrible people but a worthy cause I guess! Still we wanted to curse them out but bought the item for the original price and left angry. Super clean thrift store to help the Children's Hospital, I love that. They have lots of house ware items for cheap. Decently priced clothes in good condition, similar to regular Goodwill prices. I found two small woven baskets for $1 each. Also a cute little dream catcher for $1. They also give you deals as they ring you up but I feel weird about that, since the proceeds go to the hospital and I don't want to take from that. haha. $5 card minimum. Burbank has a lot of thrift stores so this should definitely be on your list if you want to make it a day of shopping. read more

As I walked in this afternoon to browse, the clerk at the front said, rather rudely ,"You have to wait outside, there are too many people in here" Now, I understand that many shops are limiting the amount of people due to Covid19, and I have no problem with that, and I don't mind waiting. This place is a pain in my behind! Every time I go there to make a donation they are closed or not accepting donations today. Weekday or weekend it doesn't seem to matter. I go on a Wed at 2pm - closed early. Today was a Sat at noon - not accepting donations. All the time this happens. Ugh. When I actually DO get someone they are polite and give me a receipt. I popped in here this afternoon and was at first put off by the linens in the front window. $150.00 for some lovely pieces...not the price I expected. I hung in there and found out the rest of it was A-OK. Books, 2 for 1. ($2.00 total). A nice selection of glassware and silk scarves. All sells in this store benefits the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. The entire sales staff are volunteers. This store has items for every age and gender. Household, toys, men and women's clothing and shoes and one of a kind treasurers. Vintage galore! They even have a Facebook Live every other Friday at 7:00 pm, where you purchased designer items...it's great. I found them on Facebook at LaProvidencia Thriftshop in Burbank. Just click on "like" and you will be invited to the Diva Design show. Due to covid they did reduce their hours to Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10-4pm. OMG! Theres another shopper that had an almost identical experience as me! It was so bad, I left the store, got in my car & burst into tears. I pulled a top off rack outside...$2 rack, it was a 2X on a rack for 1X, 2X and 3X sizes. I pulled it went in the store to continue shopping. I was approached by two older women (apparently volunteers) like hounddogs, looking over my shoulder. I would start to look at items on the hanger pulling it off & they were like a shadow on my back ..."Oh that's nice! Look at this, so & so!....this is too small for you" (Get out of my face! How do you even know it's not for mom/friend/someone/something else?)...Then theyd start to touch the item in MY hands-felt like my personal space was being violated. I don't know you! Respect shoppers' space & mind your business. The kicker? They caught a glimpse of the top from outside...was new with tags...those two ladies google eye at it..."how much is that top?" I said $2, from the rack outside...next thing I know...They actually snatch it out of my hand & tell me, "Oh! That shouldn't be out there! It has new tags!" (So did others! Also had a bunch of black pen marks all over the bottom of the sleeve. NTW doesnt matter anywhere else!), but all they could see was the shimmery detail, black and white pattern & chic appeal of the top-so...they decided that "It didn't belong on that rack, or to me & "We're going to take this in the back, that shouldn't have been there...that's not the right price!" Oh my gosh, literally, came back & jacking price up. To make it worse...never brought the thing back to me! I am appalled by this behavior. Then I am told, "It's the fault of customers who place the clothes on the wrong racks."...Even though I saw the employee bring out the rack from the back to outside of the store! I suggested they look through the racks before presenting them as ready for customers to purchase (signage & all-(1X, 2X, 3X for $2.00!) was in bold on a bright pink paper tacked to the rack!) So a customer accidentally left the appropriate plus size piece on the corresponding plus size sales rack??? Give me a break! Did they sneak in the back too & did so before the employee brought it out from inside?? This is complete unprofessionalism. When I challenged all of this, I was guilt tripped just like the reviewer below that, "This is for the kids at Children's Hospital!" My response? MY CHILD IS ONE OF THOSE PATIENTS! Literally, has been a patient there for over a year, is having surgery in a few months and it has been difficult for us as a family with ill members. I am coming in there as a mother to one of "those kids" & was treated like I am out to take advantage of this store. How dare they do this to anyone! Regardless if they are a parent of an ill CHLA child or not! How dare you patronize your customers for your own unprofessional business practices. It is decietful. I am furious! I wasn't there to haggle anyone for the purpose of getting over. Every dollar, every cent counts for us now. The person in charge...Donna I think her name was, was incredibly rude! Raising her voice at me that it's now $20, so the 50% price would be half off...at $10, NOT $2. I asked that they honor the fact that that was not my fault someone made an error, that it wasn't right to suddenly switch pricing on me....she got to a point of nearly yelling in the middle of the store---I am not giving it to you for less than $10! When I mentioned the two older ladies snatched it out of my hands, how that went down, she wouldn't even look me in the eye. She brushed me off with annoyance, cutting me off. I asked for the top back (they just took it & never gave it back!) She starts looking for it, finally finds it on a different rack. I was not going to back down. I looked her right in the face repeating my sentiment on the unprofessional nature of price hiking on people, yanking items from customer's hands and being aggressive with customers while they shop. She also tried to use the excuse that, "We are just a thrift store"...in regards to the unprofessionalism & price hikes, even mid-purchase! I shop at various thrifts-never experienced such gross customer service! Let me go on. When I mentioned someone should check the rack before leaving it outside, the older lady at register had the nerve to say, "Some of us don't have the health for that! We don't get paid! We just volunteer!" Please, I am 39, have fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy, arthritis of the spine, spondylitis, foraminal stenosis, carpel tunnel syndrome, a distended scapula, less than 40% strength on one side of my body after 3 car crashes, pain riddling me daily. I don't wanna hear it! Whoever LIFTED it the rack out could check tags! To top it of, I had 1 other top-I was told $2.50 in front of her (50% day) yet cashier questions me again after!...Guess it was "too nice" again? Yep, Donna hiked that one up too, with attitude! I've been to a lot of thrift stores and I wasn't expecting much when I saw the size of the place; however, as mentioned the staff has tremendous organization skills and the merchandize was mostly high quality. The ladies, never saw a man, were so kind and helpful. I am from up north, but when I come south to see the kids this will be one of my first stops. I also want to acknowledge that this benefits Children's Hospital who helped me with a dangerous disease when I was a kid. There is a book titled the "Soul of Money" which speaks of spending your money with good orgs that treat employees well, use sustainable products and support worthwhile causes and the ramifications of doing so.
