The staff are very cordial and do their best to assist guests. A few issues, no telephone or clock in the room. The sofa bed had obviously used sheets by a prior guest. The springs in the sofa bed poked into the guest to where sleep is impossible by folding a blanket double over the mattress the springs became tolerable. Clean sheets and one blanket were in the closet for the sofa bed but no pillow cases for the two pillows. The main big tv kept going offline and was constantly inoperative. One of the wash cloths in the bathroom was rolled up as if clean and upon opening it up inside was a lot of what appeared to be dried blood. The parking lot has a lot of nails and sharp screws in the lot as well as broken glass that can easily puncture tires. All around the building there was a lot of cigarette butts and these were frequently being tracked on shoes into the building. Very few disability parking spaces. The disability parking spaces are nice and flat to easily accommodate individuals with disabilities. The downside to the disability spaces is that within a couple feet of the nearest door, staff have chairs that they sit and smoke causing everyone entering near the disability spaces to traverse through cigarette smoke. The bag holder for picking up after Fido only one had a few bags as the others were empty. The breakfast area was nice but coffee was only available in the lobby for self service during the breakfast hours. The variety offered for breakfast was adequate. The tables were kept clean. Plastic spoons were individually wrapped but not plastic knives or forks. Most LaQuinta's provide additional coffee flavoring such as coffee mate hazelnut but not this one. Generally the coffee, tea bags, hot chocolate and hot water is available for self service 24/7 but not at this one. Very little insulation in the doors so anyone walking down the hall hears all guests conversations. This facility gets a lot of guests so staff are very busy and have little time for doing anything extra. read more

The outside of this hotel looks nice, and the lobby is very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was also quiet, which was great. However, the place smelled really weird, and the floors felt like they were sagging when I walked across them. They had a wooden pallet outside on the walkway where there was a giant square of mud. It was not impressive. I do like that the parking lot is big and there's plenty of space to park your vehicle. The bathroom was a good size and overall, it was fine. I'd stay here again if I absolutely had to, but I hope I don't. The smell alone is enough to keep me away. read more

This place needs some serious updating. We stayed here for one night and I wish we had checked the room out before booking it. Just shabby all around; room, staff, breakfast, everything needs updating. We didn't want to walk on the carpet with our bare feet it was so dirty and sticky. The elevator looked like it was 100 years old and had a really funky smell to it. The bathroom in the room was the worst part - moldy and falling apart, and the questionable brown stains and smears on the walls only added to the ambiance. We stay at La Quinta's all the time and when refurbished They are very nice. This property is the worst I have ever stayed at in any chain.. We were told by a staff member that this is the nicest hotel in Sherman. Seriously, if so, people should stay in a different town and pay twenty or thirty dollars more .. Would be well worth it. Please pay attention to the pictures I took before you go here.. A good cleaning and a paint touch up would go a long ways.. But honestly, it's gonna take way more than that... The elevators are disgusting and the carpet in the hallways had bleach spilled on it or something all over the place.. The girl at Check-in was very pleasant and well-dressed. Stayed here after a concert at Choctaw. I agree with other reviews that this La Quinta needs some TLC remodeling. (See my elevator pic) That said, my room on the top, 4th floor was decent, didn't smell bad , clean sheets, comfy beds, good TV & mini fridge, bathroom/towels were clean. Staff was friendly. Just awful. Walked into the lobby after passing several men in work pants with no shirts on who were wandering around the front door of the hotel, just to find four more guys hanging out at the front desk in work pants but no shirts on. They were complaining to the front desk lady about a missed Amazon package, I think. Is a construction company housing their transient workers here? Weird. The front desk lady didn't have time for me, as I waited patiently while she told the group of men several times the address of the hotel, and they continued to show her a phone screen of something they had purchased on Amazon. It was like a three stooges bit. Weird. I noticed the breakfast area hadn't been cleaned, and it was about 6pm. More weird guys were wandering the halls down the way from the front desk. Is not wearing a shirt while in work pants some sort of requirement for staying in this hotel? Weird. Very Nice hotel! Surprised by the low reviews- seems like i had a completely different experience than everyone else. I was greeted by the front desk lady and she was friendly and checked me into my room- When I got to my room it was very clean and spacious- I was surprised about the amount of room I had- My bed was also super comfortable- and I looked to make sure my linens were clean as I do everytme I go to a hotel and everything was in clean working order. Nov 24-25, 2022 2912 N US 75, Sherman Tx. It was raining and dark when we arrived. Clerk very friendly, but tried to get a pet deposit from us even though the website said no deposit. He relented, no deposit. Now several reasons why 3 stars. 1: room door looked like it had been pried open, or an attempt had been made, SEVERAL times. Even the metal edging on frame was broken. 2: No fridge or microwave BUT did have coffee. 3: The carpet was nasty, in the room AND the hallway. 4: The parking lot, right in front of the check in had about 3' of mud out from the curb and 2' on the berm to the parking lot, where the mud in the parking lot came from. Normally not a problem, but I backed my Ford F150 into the space and had to get something out of the bed. 5: Although pet friendly there was no place to potty the dogs. Small space near front door, no where else. We pick up after our dogs, but many do not. Pet poop smells. Remember it was dark and rainy, so this was not readily visible. All things considered, we are happy to be here after 2 hours of driving in Dallas Tx in a rain storm. read more

Terrible. I got duped into this by taking a chance via Priceline Express Deals. Anyway... Rusty water from faucets and in toilet until third or fourth use. Smell of medicine or something in the room - No. 321. Place is seriously outdated and the tub in our room was a "re-bath," which was very narrow and inclined into the center of the tub which, when combined with the slippery water from the hotel's water softener, makes for a dangerous situation to anyone having any type of balance issues. Kay greeted us as we entered the lobby, very friendly , my room was clean and well equipped coffee maker etc .. the bed was great. Not much to say. Read all the other reviews. True statements. This place is absolutely DISGUSTING!. The room we had had tons of bugs crawling around. The outlets were not all working. The water in the sink was hot. Would not go cold at all. Kinda weird, right? The shower had almost NO pressure. It was just over a drip and the shower head looked all clogged up. In the drain there was some white stuff. Not sure what it was but I was NOT going to stick my fingers in there to find out. The carpets were stained really bad and super dirty. DON'T go barefooted in here. The kicker........ The air in the room would not get cold. It got cool but not cold. I have been to many La Quinta's and they were really good in the past but this one was just gross. This place needs some SERIOUS UPDATING. This hotel is very sub par. From the rooms(caulking, dirt, bathroom locks) to the hallways(wall paper peeling off, dirty walls and elevators) to the breakfast( i discuss in the review) to the employees(shirts untucked, wearing jackets, rough presentation) . My experience with hotels is a Hotel Banquet Manager. I literally watched the hotel engineer( jacket on over uniform) walk to get coffee (from the public area) get coffee only to find out that there was no coffee remaining in the urn...the he walked off... RATHER THAN TELLING ANYONE THE COFFEE WAS OUT. Also, the new hotel front desk guy( shirt not tucked in) told a guest that '"there is decaf".... How about saying "sorry sir there is currently only decaf, i have two fresh gallons of coffee on there way". Also, these dining tables are filthy they are obviously are not being cleaned.. used napkins, spills and stains. Workers are eating in front of hotel guests. Also... THERE IS NO KITCHEN STAFF! No one is managing the food, the coffee, the refills! This hotel KNOWS there their hotel is fully booked yet there is no kitchen staff, running out of coffee, and foods. And the worst utensils/tongs were set on the counter... NOT ON PLATES OR TRAYS! Obviously this is beyond unhealthy. I literally used styrofoam (yes everything is styrofoam) to put a few tongs on to them. ALSO... the hotel is now using a house keeper for a kitchen staff.. and shes not changing gloves. (Shes going to cross contaminate is shes NOT CHANGING GLOVES!!) This hotel has great potential.. its disappointing. Let me start by saying that the one staff person running the whole place was very pleasant and helpful. That said, it is clear that this corporation doesn't give a damn about its guests. The pool was closed, there was no breakfast other than a bag with a packaged danish in it, and the place was filthy. The stairwells had ground in food and muck, on both sides of the building. The elevators had dried, sticky soda fluids all over them and a noticeable smell. ALL THAT FOR THE SAME, FULL PRICE! This is one of the best LaQuinta hotels that I have stayed at. The service was excellent, including a check-in call after we got to our rooms to make sure everything was ok. The breakfast bar was full of goodies including a fruit bowl with orange slices and pineapple, along with the traditional melons. Staff is really great, and they accept dogs. Otherwise, not great. Room had a terrible bathroom with mold in a tub corner, sticky fixtures, TV was dim and black/white. Carpet was probably clean but really, really stained. It's possible they put pets in certain rooms, but man, this one needed to be completely remodeled. Is it possible to miss a hotel? To feel like you're reuniting with your family when you return because the staff is just that nice to you? Is it obvious that I love this location? It should be and I am not ashamed. When I found myself needing to get to and from Oklahoma quickly but not interested in staying in Oklahoma or at any of the other hotels in the area thanks to horrible experiences, this location was chosen because they had great rates on a third party site. I honestly didn't expect much but I was delightfully surprised as soon as I walked into the building. It actually smelled clean before even getting to my room and the staff looked genuinely happy to see me even though there was a convention and I'm sure they had hundreds of other people in the lobby at that time. I got my keys quickly and that was a great thing since I'd been on the road all day. Things I loved: clean room, coffee maker in room plus coffee, refrigerator in most rooms and microwave which comes in handy because there are a lot of good places to eat around this location, LOCATION because you can literally see everything you may possibly need to get to from the parking lot (Walmart, gas station, restaurants, movie theater...)- to say this location is walkable is an understatement so you most likely won't need an Uber or a car at all to get to majority of the things around here, soft towels, free continental breakfast that they actually allow you to eat if you happen to be running a little late and miss the actual time breakfast is going on, free and reliable WiFi, clean beds, nice friendly staff that actually recognize you no matter how many times they see you or how long it's been since the last time you visited them (and they don't judge how many plates of breakfast you take back to your room), no pest issues and trust when I say I am that crazy lady who takes a flashlight and clear tape to bed frames to check for bedbugs, and if you have any problems the staff is quick to fix them or move you to a new room without issue (I once had to change rooms multiple times due to a smoking neighbor and they didn't give me any problems at all) Things I didn't like: this location is pet friendly. Yep, I said it. I love pets but some of the pet owners here are not considerate at all so there were times where a dog would bark constantly while in the hallways or obviously locked in a bathroom all day, some rooms smelled like "pet" as though the owner just let the pet tinkle wherever in the room so if you have allergies like me, this will be a problem for you so let the staff know and they will help you out, carpet in most rooms could use a good steam cleaning since the color isn't exactly forgiving with hiding stains, walls are pretty thin so you will hear that one neighbor who sneezes like he's taking his last dying breath or people walking and talking at normal volume in the halls, the pool can get loud so if you're facing that way you should prepare for that extra action any day between Thursday and Sunday, channels are pretty limited and sometimes kind of dicey but this really isn't the hotels fault (can't remember if they have direct tv or dish but it's unreliable af) but at least the WiFi is strong and there are multiple ports on the tv for you to connect game consoles or other means of watching tv like amazon fire sticks or your laptop. Overall, can't wait to go back. Is that weird to say for a moderately priced hotel in a small town? (please don't answer that.) read more

We arrived at the La Quinta last Thursday evening after driving 14 hours from Chicago. The temperature in the sprawling town of Sherman, Texas was a cool 102 degrees. Nice!? Immediately we noticed a parking lot full of pick up trucks and SUV's. Seriously, I think there may have been one, or possibly two cars. Gotta love Texas, their trucks, and love for oil:) We get through the friendly front desk agent, and check-in to our room, in hopes of relaxing, and cooling off with a Vodka and soda. No such luck, as it was a balmy 90 degrees in the room. Screw this; let's place the AC on 65, grab a beer, and come back to our room in a few hours and hope it's cool. When we get back an hour later, because Sherman calls it a night at 9:30, the room was tolerable. Well, the temperature that is. Listen, this place is a real dump. I've stayed in a handful of La Quintas, and most are actually kinda' decent, considering they're usually in that "low rent" price range. The carpet was dirty, smelly and had a damp feeling to it. The TV was an early 90's box model, with fuzzy reception. Cool! But, hey, we were in Texas for a wedding, not to spend quality time in the room. The next morning we were up early enough to give the free La Quinta breakfast a whirl. Yummy to my tummy, as this crap made my buttocks give the toilet a whirl. Oh, don't fret, because it gets better: The toilet, and shower, leaked onto the bathroom floor. Privacy. Nope, not in this La Quinta bath, because it's a double door that doesn't want to close all the way. If you're a "Peeping Tom", you'll be in Heaven! 2 stars are for the bed, as it was actually kinda' comfy, and the employees were friendly too. Front desk clerk was friendly. Got a huge clean room after a hard day driving. We just wanted to veg and watch TV. We ordered a pizza and hung out all night. Beds were comfy and ac was cool. There were minor cosmetic maintenance issues with room that did not interfere with the enjoyment of the room at all. No exhaust fan in restroom; one of the things I always look for. Lots of places to eat nearby, had we wanted to get back out. Reliable free Wi-Fi. Ended up paying $85 for the night...the same as Priceline just by walking in off the street. I like to support LQ BC I usually bring my little dog. I didn't have her this trip, but I appreciate how accommodating they always are. This class of room usually has a fridge and microwave, but both were absent. Didn't need them this trip, but if we were staying longer we would have wanted them. When she said it was a double room, she actually meant 2 double beds. Most hotels these days use queens, which we would have preferred. The pool area looked very inviting, although we didn't have the opportunity to use it on this visit. Overall, a nice enough room at our preferred chain. We were plenty comfy and would definitely stay again. read more

This is a fairly ok hotel/motel. The rooms are clean for the most part. They accept pets which is a plus for me. The breakfast is great and I have no complaints. One thing I didn't like was during breakfast the Jerry Springer Show was on TV. No good when there are small children in the area. This trash should be excluded from the breakfast menu. So i have stayed at a couple of hotels in Sherman and Denison, but this past weekend we had the pleasure of staying at La Quinta, we came Friday the 31st, for the Austin College football Game on Saturday, and we stayed till sunday. But on friday night when we got to the room it was stiffening we called and the manager came up to adjust it for us, the next morning we had 4 more rooms we were going to use that night so the desk keeper, put in some work to get our rooms Ready early so the other people in our party can come in and leave their stuff, the housekeeping staff were on top of everything and bing bang boom, they moved us out of 1 room to a clean room, the had the handicap room ready, and before we knew it by 11 we were all setteling into the rooms. Saturday night they allowed us to eat and be marry by yhe gazebo. Never complaining about the laughter and music we had at swimming pool. And sunday merle gave us directions to St. Ann and just made us feel like we mattered. Thank you to all the staff, from friday night yo sunday morning. We went out for dinner and movie come back to people in our room. We called the cops. And found out that people live there monthly. And folks watches you and steal from you when you leave. Hard boiled eggs, standard waffle maker with choice of regular or sugar-free syrup, yogurt, fruit mix, and assorted breads and Danishes. Juice options included apple or orange juice. One major hiccup was their laundry facilities. One washer/one dryer. After washing a load of clothes, placed wet clothes in the dryer, inserted $1.75, and nada. Called front desk but was told the laundry facilities were maintained by a 3rd Party outfit and they couldn't refund my money. Had to load my clothes into a plastic bag and find a laundromat. The rooms are adequate, the pool is very nice (although I did feel like I was at a "Joe Dirt" convention) and the free breakfast was standard free food fare so I would have normally given it two stars. The reason I am giving it only ONE star was the front desk staff. We flew here and were told on check in there was a taxi who could take us back to the airport in the morning. The phone number we were given for the taxi service has been disconnected and when we asked the front desk for other ideas, they gave us a ride service number that is only open M-F and weren't a bit concerned that we were stranded. Traveling from central Illinois to San Antonio, TX, we needed a pitstop for the night. Opened up the Kayak app and looked for hotels about an hour down the road from us and found this one; so we booked it. Price was fair enough for three adults with two dogs. The clerk even found us a room near an exit for us to take the dogs and in and out. The room was nothing spectacular but it was clean, had a HID TV, two comfy beds, and a good, clean bathroom with a shower with good pressure. What more do you need for an overnight stay? Breakfast was good: waffles, cereal, toast, juice, coffee, fruit; pretty much what you'd expect. The real service came after we left, however. After we got to San Antonio (about a six hour drive) we realized we'd left a bag of laundry in the room. We called and talked to the head of housekeeping and the next day FedEx showed up with a package containing the clothes we'd left behind. I definitely recommend them. read more

This week my 1 year old daughter and I decided to join him on his 3 day trip and we have not been disappointed by the hotel staff. I am a La Quinta Returns Reward member & I can tell you that from this experience on 7-14-12, I may NEVER return to another La Quinta again. When we drove up into the parking lot I knew we should have cancelled & found some place else to stay, but we were trying to honor the made reservation. 1st-painters and construction workers blocking the entrance to the hotel-they were painting. 2nd-parking limited-police cars & state game warden trucks everywhere. We were optimistic & thought that maybe they're having a conference. It was 96 degrees outside and there was very little air blowing inside the lobby (another sign to turn around). When I walked up to the counter, the CSR-June told us that our room wasn't ready we'd have to wait. She was preparing to leave. Cory came on duty and immediately gave a room to a couple that just walked in, with 2 bottles of water and cookies. We inquired about if they had a special reservation and was told no, he apologized didn't know we were waiting. I pointed to June and said she knows we're waiting. June then says, "Sorry sometimes things get away from us up here." Cory was awesome & gave us a room on the 3rd floor-Rm 314...we went to the elevator & immediately began sweating & when we got to the 3rd floor there was no air and we found the police & wardens...they were standing next to our room because whatever was happening was across the hall from our room. We went inside our room & it was a scorcher & was still dirty. The linens were black from foot prints (not sure if animal or human). We went back down & asked for our money back because we did not want to stay in a hot, dirty room across from the "investigation." We were told that they had no more rooms & June said she had no way of knowing that the room she gave us was across from the investigation nor that the air was out. "Things get away from them there." I asked for the newly appointed GM, Stephanie A. I was told that she was too busy and not properly dressed to address my concerns. She told Cory to just delete my reservation and tell me my money would be back on my card in 14 business days. Maybe LQ should rethink their choice for GM. I think Cory would be a better fit. Not only did he clean up June's mess (as she raved about a great internet review she received as she was leaving out the door) but he also handled the mess that his GM should have handled. This was one of the dirtiest and stinkiest hotels I've ever been in. The Weeknd staff were really rude and clearly did not care about customer service. It's Texas in the middle of summer and their air conditioners were out through the hallways, the employee told me it had been that way for the entire 5 years he had worked there. Maybe it's because of the Heat but every place in the hotel except the rooms smelled like pee and hot dogs. My husband and I stayed in a a suite that was not huge but OK for the price. When I book this room several days earlier I specifically asked to not be on the second floor, and when I checked in and they put me on the second floor, the same employee refuse to do anything about it and told me I was Sol. The hot tub by the pool was so gross there were bugs living in it. The housekeeper was blareing trap music at top volume in the hallway, And a free continental breakfast is a joke, there are waffles eggs and bagels about it .The only saving grace for this hotel what's the really nice young lady who worked overnights.
