The facility is beautiful and spread out. It looks very classy, Jennifer gave us a nice tour of the party areas and the back view of the lake and gazebo. Love the statues hidden around and they have nice rooms so it would be convenient for a family reunion or wedding...or just to stay in luxury for a weekend. This place is not worth the money - period. My wife, my in-laws, and I recently stayed as we were visiting some of my family in the area. There's not much to this place, really. You'd think with the prices we paid to stay there two nights - the main lodge would AT LEAST offer complimentary breakfast - even if it was a continental breakfast - SOMETHING. The towels were like small pieces of sandpaper, the beds were not the most comfortable, and the rooms, in general - are nothing special. I agree with another reviewer who stated, "the rooms were decent but more of what you'd expect from a cheap motel". I usually really try to have my reviews be longer, but I simply wasn't impressed by this place. read more

They have the right idea, but the beds need to be replaced. You can feel the springs and unfortunately, we woke up with sore backs. Lights outside of the rooms need to be yellow lights to prevent bugs. Rooms need to be updated, even if they're going for a lodge look. It would be nice if some sort of snack area was on site, even if it's a food truck. Location is great to the lake. read more

I really wanted to like this place but it's been a rough two nights. The staff is very nice and tries to be accommodating but the property is just not being kept up. And I feel this "resort" which is more like a motel is attracting an unruly crowd. I did not feel safe here with my 10yr old daughter. Smokers loiter outside the doors to the room all day and night, so we had to pass through clouds of cigarette smoke often. The walls are paper thin. You can hear someone sneeze or basic conversation, so when a group of drunk young men come in from a night of partying at 2am, yelling and pushing each other into walls, it's a scary way to be woken up, sounds like they're in the same room. In addition, the internet and cable were out the whole time we were there too and since there's no real view to enjoy we found ourselves quite bored here. Definitely won't be coming back unless major changes are made. read more

My family spent the weekend here and enjoyed it. The room was clean and had everything we needed - a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine, hair dryer, bar soap, shampoo/conditioner, makeup wipes, and towels; however, the thin walls, loud AC, and slightly uncomfortable bed made it hard for us to sleep at night. The back side of the place that overlooks the beautiful lake is the best thing about this place. There are trails (paved and unpaved) that lead to the lake, which we enjoyed taking every morning and evening with the nice weather. There's a bench under a large tree, which is perfect for reading a book and relaxing, and a gazebo. Both the tree and gazebo were wrapped in string lights, but I never saw it turned on, except for when there was a wedding happening. It would've been very nice if they were turned on in the evening for the guest to enjoy. If you walk down the paved road towards the marina, you'll see a couple of deers munching on plants. For entertainment and food, we had to get in our car and drive out. We would have to drive like 5-10 minutes for food and 20 minutes to the state park for hiking, swimming, and picnic. They give you a free pass to the state park for the duration of your stay, which we used quite a lot. This place was mainly for you to store your luggage, shower, and sleep. It felt more like an upgraded motel than a lodge. read more

It's called a marina but they have no dock no bait no tackle no boat dock.the motel room the bed is wore out the air conditioner sounds like a freight train every time it comes on the dinning room has no food lol I got a splinter on my finger from the headboard of the bed you can barely open the door without hitting the bed the lobby does not even have a soda machine or. Not bad. The property is nice and quiet especially at night. The daytime service in the lodge was great. We rented a boat and also jet skis. The lodge is not far from fun places like the bear den and the state park...camping, good swimming area, grilling. The room we stayed in was cute. Not fancy but clean and functional with a mini frig and microwave. Bring your own pillow. Theirs are giant thick bricks. Unfortunately the A/C unit in our room was on the fritz. The response from the service hotline when called about the problem was not satisfactory. We were told to unplug it then replug it. Really? Our family in other rooms had amazing A/C so not to worry if they fix that one you can be freezed out if you like. read more

I first came to this location several years ago when it was named Lantana under the previous management. The area is gorgeous with many trees, a beautiful lake, a large fire pit, and a lighted gazebo that looks amazing against the sunset. The rooms under Lantana were pretty outdated at the time, however, this new management has upgraded the rooms and made them beautifully rustic. We stayed in a double bed room and we had a small refrigerator, microwave, free WiFi (which was surprisingly decent) and DirectTV with premium movie channels. You can get a bucket of ice from the lobby, but you will have to get it before it closes at 5PM. You can check in after 5PM by accessing a coded lock. The small town of Pilot Point is within driving distance which has several restaurants and a couple of stores to buy groceries. If you're looking to get away from the bustle and spend quiet time in a beautiful natural environment, this is the place to go. Not many people know about this jewel of a place that rents its room out for only $95 a night. You can't beat that price. read more

Let me start by saying the rooms were decent but more of what you would find at a cheap motel, not what you'd expect from a lodge. The staff was nice and the linens were clean. However, the bed wasn't comfortable and the walls were very thin. Heard everything going on in the rooms next to us. There were gnats in the room. The AC did work great, but was loud. The rooms are not attached to the beautiful lodge and look nothing like it. If it wasn't for the beautiful scenery (only visible from the lodge) we would have found another location. Unless you have a boat or are renting something from the marina it is pointless to stay here because you have to travel at least 20 minutes to the state park to get in the water. If you bring your own boat, you can rent a slip but you there isn't a boat ramp (that we saw). There are not clear signs regarding the hiking in the area either. Stayed at nicer places for less. Didn't give it a one star because the linens were clean and staff was nice. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Stayed there for Labor Day weekend and it was great. The staff was extremely helpful and nice and the rooms are cute and clean. They also provide you with a free pass to enter isle du bois. Only thing is that the Wi-Fi didn't work but other than that it was a great place. read more

This lodge hosted my surprise 60th birthday party, which was held in their main lodge party area, with a balcony that faced a beautiful sunset view over Lake Ray Roberts - for ambiance, this view would be hard to beat! Some of our guests stayed at the lodge - the rooms were clean and well decorated. The only real issue we ran into was that on the night before the party, my wife went up there to deliver some decorations and supplies - the website says they are open from 8 am to 8 pm, reserving the right to close at 5:30 pm. She arrive to a closed office at 5:10 pm - if not for this one issue, I would have given 5 stars! Can't say enough about the view! Absolutely stunning! read more

I have rented a pontoon boat from Lone Star Lodge and Marina for my husband's surprise birthday party. The day of the party (coolers packed, fun balloons for the boat are in the car, excited guests are driving to the marina, my husband is whisked away to "fish" by a friend/co-conspirator, and I am in the car with my happy children) I receive a call from the marina telling me that the boat is broken. Period. That was it, no other option, no alternatives. I send the girl that called back to the manager, because I can't believe that any place can be managed in such a way and survive. I tell her that I would like him, her manager, to call me back. She calls back 3 minutes later to give me the same message. The Lone Star Lodge and Marina had obliterated my husband's birthday party, took away our day and my ability to ever do anything like this again. I had to deal with my kids' tears of disappointment and call every guest and tell them all to turn around all the while trying to hold it together myself. I especially want to point out the despicable, gutless behavior of the manager. Hiding behind the back of girl who works for him! What a prize example of everything we despise in "men in power". Oh and by the way, do you think I have gotten my deposit back? I will give you three guesses, but you will only need one. Do not rent or do any kind of business with the Lone Star Lodge and Marina. They are not interested in you, you experience or satisfaction. If anything goes wrong, even if it is their fault, you will be the one left to pick up the pieces. read more
