Playground, dog park, tennis courts and a skate park. Some days parking was a challenge.

Flock Cameras everywhere…read more It's tougher and tougher to go to these parks with the city giving the oath keepers and sheriffs access to the cameras that point directly at the kids playground. The "remodel" was mostly to distract from the addition of the cameras. Cameras that's don't have rules or oversight. It's icky.

The places you find when trying to explore different areas. Of all the times I've been to the…read moredesert, this was the first time here. Honestly never heard of this place until we were looking for something to do. It's just a couple miles from the main strip of 111. But tucked behind some of the beautiful gated communities, you end up here. We didn't know what to expect or how it would be. Thought it would be some park of sorts. Well... It is tucked with the mountains in the background which makes for a beautiful view. Hiking is not far from it and there's loads of beautiful homes in gated communities. We didn't know that camping was also offered here. It's a little drive up to the main gate which there's a fee for entering. The person working the station was gracious enough to let us in as we just wanted to check it out. First off, it's a man made lake. You enter the park area with parking both to the left and right side. There's plenty of spots in both of the parking lot. We went to the right which from the looks of the park, it is well maintained. There's a small little playground on one end, a pool area in the middle and a pickleball court and a basketball court to the other end. That's would be the main park area. If you continue to drive down toward the front, there's campsites. Areas with a grill, a spot for your car as well as water and electricity. Depending on what you need, the fee will be added. You could just camp as if without the electricity. Also the sites are pretty much next to each other. We drove to the other side where there's more campsite which this one is more primitive style. Bring everything yourself. The other side was more of a dirt lot. Not sure what it would be utilize for. Lake area does look man made and well maintained. Looking down it looked as it was like an amphitheater with the steeps leading down. We did find out that you can fish but no swimming or boating allowed. There's a fee if you wanted to fish. Basically a fee for everything. Overall, it's a decent park tucked away. Camping available but not the roughing kind. Small park area but does have a pool. It was pretty quiet when we arrived as it was hot. Would we pay to come in after we've seen this place, probably not. But at least we know what to expect incase we do happen to be back again.

We hoped to possibly see some bighorn sheep but they have put up a fence so they can't get to the lake now.

Nick owned a beautiful 1926 Buick, which is featured as a significant part of the car show's 2026 event, marking the car's 100th anniversary! The car show, organized by the Palm Springs Cruisin' Association and Nicks son,Michael Negosian,draws large crowds and supports local causes-a testament to Nick's impact on the community. I fed a giraffe! So obviously my life is complete. We had a lovely morning at The Living desert in…read morePalm Springs! Arrived around 10am (a little too late for a hot summer day in my opinion) and after buying our tickets, we took a look at the giant map and knew where we wanted to go...the giraffes of course! The property itself was gorgeous, super clean and we went during the week which likely cut down on the amount of folks there. Totally great. We met Kelly the giraffe and got to feed her. Such a fun experience! All of the staff here were kind, patient, and simply wonderful! I Loved how there was a blend of employees and gracious volunteers here who were all clearly passionate about the park. After we were all done, we headed to the cafe and grabbed a quick beer and pretzel. Perfect little snack! Great and fun times at The Living Desert! It was great taking a few hours to see the animals and even getting to feed one!

I have visited this zoo before and remembered it as a place where animals had more natural environments and where visitors could learn about wildlife and conservation. Unfortunately, this visit was a completely different experience. During our visit, we saw a pigeon with what appeared to be a broken wing, as well as a dead bird inside one of the exhibits. A group of us immediately flagged down a staff member to report what we had seen. Rather than showing concern, she seemed visibly annoyed that we had interrupted them while they were driving a golf cart. After I explained the situation, she rolled her eyes, said she would "let someone know," and drove away. For an organization that places such a strong emphasis on animal conservation and welfare, the lack of urgency and compassion we encountered from staff was incredibly disappointing. I sincerely hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, but it left us with a very negative impression.
