THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT WORTH IT!!! We decided to visit this restaurant because we heard it was one of the best in Paris. It was difficult getting a reservation so booking in advance is a must. There are only a few tables inside with very dim lightning with a calm ambiance, perfect for gatherings with friends or families. However, the food was subpar and not worth the money. The escargot itself was fresh but the sauce was a bit disappointing as it wasn't as flavorful as expected. We got the steak as our mains and it was very disappointing. I asked for medium rare but should've known that the French like to cook their steak more rare than normal so the steak ended up being completely raw inside. Additionally, the sauce was extremely peppery and completely overwhelmed the taste of the steak and I thought it was too salty. The fries were limp and I would prefer McDonald's fries over these any day. We were so unsatisfied with the steak that we decided to try the burger. The burger was not what I expected and was more like two smashed patties in a brioche bun. However, it was extremely salty making it difficult to eat. We got chocolate mousse for dessert and it was definitely not the right choice. The mousse was very aerated and was more like chocolate whipped cream. There were also large pebbles of salt sprinkled on top that made it too salty. Overall, the food was below average and was not worth it for the experience or the price. I ended up getting food poisoning from the rawness of the steak and threw up the next day. This is the worst experience I had in Paris as I was sick with food poisoning for the next few days.

The bone-in ribeye at La Renommée? Pure poetry on a plate. Juicy, perfectly seared, and big enough to make me forget I was "sharing." Bone marrow was also super flavorful. The dining room gives old-world Parisian charm, the kind of place where wine flows, conversations linger, and dinner feels like an event. A must for anyone chasing that timeless Paris vibe.

From the moment we walked in to when we left, we felt like welcomed guests. The service was impeccable and the English speaking wait staff put us at ease and made it a wonderful dinner experience. The food was amazing, with everything flavorful and artfully plated and prepared. The restaurant has a warm and cozy yet formal charm, while clearly celebrating its French roots. We will be back.

Amazing meal in Paris. Group is behind 4 Charles Prime Rib in NYC, so of course had to try the burger. No bacon and egg add-ons here, just patty and sauce with onion and pickles on the side. The patties are juicy and packed with flavors. I think I liked it more than the one I had in NYC! Escargots were very meaty - definitely one of the bigger ones I've had. Chocolate mousse was fantastic. I LOVED the touch of sea salt on top of the dark chocolate flakes. Beautiful interior and great service throughout the night!
The most amazing dishes all in one night! I had the oyster and beef tartare and it blew me away. Normally I am not a fan of tartare at all but I tried it because they claim to have the best in Paris... and they do! For my dish I had the filet and wow just wow every bite had a burst of flavor. And to finish I had the strawberry dessert..... melted right in my mouth. The service was great they speak both French and English, however at the end I will say because they knew we were American they added the tip portion which I caught on to and when I made a joke about it they were a little frazzled. Either way I would definitely come back, especially cause I realized there was a bar downstairs as I was leaving! The decor reminded me of old school NY, very classy and lots of paintings. read more

I am so happy I got to actually get a reservation here. Found this place off Insta and coming from Chicago, I am very familiar with HogSalt restaurants an love them! When trying to reserve this, I made sure 30 days prior to book for my desired date. However, when I tried, all spots were completely booked. Note to self...reservations open 9AM PARIS time which is like 2AM Chicago time :/ LUCKILY, the hotel we were staying at was 2 blocks down and on Saturday me and my sister went to check if there were any cancellations. We got the 10PM slot which actually worked out perfectly for us and I AM SO HAPPY I GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE. WOOOOWW, the food was truly amazing! My favorite was the bone marrow for sure! They first served really good bread with the best butter in town. We ordered Escargot and the bone marrow as appetizers. I got the "New York" Steak Maturé that came with a béarnaise sauce and my sisters ordered the Filet Aux Poivres. As sides we got Pommes Frites (French fries), Haricots Verts (green beans), Ratatouille, and Pommes Grenailles de Noirmoutier (Roasted potatoes with creme fraiche). And my favorite part - dessert! We ordered CREME CARAMEL & MOUSSE AU CHOCOLAT VALRHONA. All I can say is all the food was amazing and the quality is evident! The interior has super dimmed lighting and booths with soft jazz in the background. Like super romantic vibes. Downstairs they have a bar area which is equally chic! The staff were soooo friendly! I'd 100% recommend this place if you're looking for a special dinner spot in Paris or if you are celebrating something special read more
Dined here with my wife and friends on Saturday night. We had just dined at Tour d'Argent the night before, so our standards were quite high. And La Renommée did not disappoint. It's a much more casual feel than d'Argent, which was just fine for us. I had the escargot and bone marrow to begin. Of course the escargot was delicious, but I was highly pleasantly surprised by the bone marrow. Enormous bones with so much meat (ok, fat) in them. I completed dinner with a full rack of lamb, which was yummy too. Before dinner, we found the speakeasy-style bar in the basement. It was a great way to start our evening and I highly recommend you visit the bar before or after your meal. read more

Visited Paris last week and had an amazing experience at La Renommée! I booked the reservation exactly 30 days in advance right when they open and was only able to get a 10:15 pm spot. The highlights: - Space itself is amazing and almost feels like you're transporting back in time in Paris - Definitely upscale feeling, even a tad more upscale than I expected - French 75 cocktail was classic and perfect (we didn't actually order wine this night, so can't speak to the wine list at all) - Butter was probably the best butter I've ever had, literally was eating chunks of it. The server finally realized I wasn't eating the bread they did offer to bring me GF bread but by the time it arrived, our entrees were already being served. - Since it was a late reservation, we skipped appetizers. Can't speak to any of the starters. - We ordered the filet, ratatouille, fries, and rabbit pasta with GF pasta. It was all really really amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious (it was my fave sauce of the other steak frites we had in Paris). The rabbit pasta was really rich, I'm glad my husband & I shared this and I couldn't have eaten the whole bowl. Ratatouille was also fantastic (living my Remy dreams!) - We were the last reservation spot and the food didn't come out until after 11 even though we ordered pretty quickly. The manager did feel bad about the delay, so brought us the chocolate mousse on the house and it was unreal. - Ended with tea service which was posh and really nice. They also offered to go cups so we could walk out with our tea (since it was after midnight by now, haha) To note: - Service is very typical French service. Don't expect small talk with your server... that's just the way of the French! - We arrived about 30 min early for our reservation (9:45 pm) and checked in that we were there. They said our table wasn't ready, which we expected, but that the bar was full and basically to come back in 30 min. I really feel like this type of restaurant should at least offer to let you order a drink and wait outside. Little bummed we had to stand around waiting with not even a drink in hand. Very glad we got to have dinner here and would highly recommend! Not sure I'd be in a hurry to return, however, it would be my top choice if we wanted another upscale dinner in Paris (since it really doesn't feel like a bistro type spot, much more upscale) read more

Do not waste your money here! There was nothing above mediocre!!! It felt like a movie set with fake decor, food, and actors! Tasteless fois gras. How is that possible?! There is nothing pleasurable about writing a bad review but I would want to know before spending time and money here. I honestly can't remember a more disappointing experience. read more

This is my second 5 star review in a week. Had to change our flights to squeeze in coming back one more time! Rabbit pasta, goat cheese salad, and NY strip blew our socks off (again!). This is the type of place that has you contacting your realtor to sell your home to move to Paris. read more

DinIng at La Renommee was one of the experiences we were most looking forward to on our latest visit to Paris. The food and ambience were lovely. The only issue was unlike every other restaurant we visited at the conclusion of the meal we were promoted to tip (I would have done so anyway as an extra thank you! As we have done everywhere) but our server implied service was not reflected in the bill we were presented with promoted 18 - 20% to "show appreciation for the staff) Service is always reflected but we still added 22% - if an establishment feels it necessary to mislead their customers then they must really need the extra money, hope you enjoy and know I'm well aware of that you did and it's so disappointin. read more

Fantastic food and a very intimate atmosphere. We ordered the cheese burger and the strip steak, Both were phenomenal. The steak was so good!! It came sliced with a delicious sauce on the side. Pro tip they have a speakeasy in the basement ask your server to set you up with a table after dinner. read more
