For my husband's birthday an Italian cheesecake will be on the menu but honestly I didn't realize how hard it was finding Italian cheesecake on Long Island. Apparently, you need to call ahead but not here, La Roma Pastry Shop. They have your Italian cheese cheesecake ($33.00)and it is exquisite. Upon entering you see how adorable and quaint, the little tables and chairs and decor are so romantic. From the moment I walked in the door. There were people in front of me and the whole time I was there there was steady flow people coming in behind me. This place is busy and they keep it going. There's plenty of staff. They're friendly fast efficient and pretty much amazing they do it all. Although I did not try one today, I hear they're famous for their rainbow cheesecake. Absolutely the best cheese danishes I've ever had! I cannot believe they have konosfoglia! I have only seen that in Naples (Italy not Florida). If you haven't had it picture the pastry part of a sfogliatelle (without the filling) hollowed out so it can be filled with gelato. It is really all about the crunchy texture against the creamy gelato. Also it's super interesting that they have pistacchio cream cannoli's just like in Italy. The woman who served me said the owners are from Naples and Sicily so this authenticity makes perfect sense. This is my favorite bakery in the area. This has got to be the best cannoli cream we have ever had and is better than some Brooklyn bakeries we have visited !! The sfogliatelle is absolutely the only one and I mean only one I've had in over 20 years that was actually filled ! The cartocci was delicious as well with most delicious cream as well!! We traveled from deer park , not that bad at all and will be visiting weekly ! New girl being trained was adorable and did excellent as I can be a little picky !!!! This is a wonderful authentic Italian bakery ! There are not many around so we are lucky to have this shop located right here off of Sunrise Hwy in Oakdale ,it is within the Lidl shopping center . The bakery is beautifully decorated so cozy , spotless and adorable . Everything here looks so fresh and delicious, it's hard to decide what to try ! You can get a coffee, espresso,cappuccino , lattes and much more .All the baked goods are visually amazing from their cakes to their cookies! I've had their biscotti and sesame cookies before and they are perfectly baked and scrumptious! Today I came early in the morning and enjoyed a Cappuccino with a buttery , flaky croissant. I was lucky enough to receive a box Italian sprinkle cookies with jelly as a gift recently. Delicious, and soft. Held up very well -around 2 weeks it still was super fresh. My boyfriend and I had dessert from here. I had an apple turnover and he had tiramisu. We both really enjoyed our dessert! I loved my apple turnover and liked that it wasn't super sweet! It was just perfect. He really liked his tiramisu. He said it was one of the best he ever had. His only complaint about it was that it was too small. On the search for a bakery, a Yelp search proved to be very helpful! Nestled in a strip mall shopping center, I never would have known it was there and was slightly skeptical given its location, but the great reviews enticed me to stop in. I learned that they recently moved to this spot, not sure where they came from. The bakery is adorable! I love that there is seating and cute decor, and it was immaculately clean. Definitely a place that you would want to relax in, meet up with a friend, or stop in and sit with a cafe. Which speaking of, and I'd didnt have any, but they had a legit espresso machine which always earns points for me. The shop has everything you could possibly want in an Italian bakery. Breads, cookies, cakes, pies, multiple types of croissant, the list is endless. The loaf of bread that I picked up couldn't have been any fresher. And the pistachio croissant? Saturday afternoon, people sitting at a few tables which were oddly placed where the line was forming to place your order. A bit chaotic. But the 2 employees (a young lady and a young gentleman) handled it all behind the counter with a smile. There was a price menu on the wall but it did not include everything so we had to ask how much things were. The prices were ok. We tried the tiramisu, chocolate mousse cake, chocolate fudge cake, strawberry shortcake, a lemon drop iced cookie and oreo Gelato. Cookie and cakes were fresh. Gelato was not our favorite but was finished. I also asked for a regular cup of coffee with a splash of oat milk. It was amazing! I would definitely go back if in the area to try more pastries. After hearing the hype for almost a year, I went for a visit on a Saturday afternoon for coffee and a slice of cake with my husband and it did not disappoint. We actually got lucky that we wandered in during a bit of a lull so we had time to browse the case and ask a lot of questions but as soon as we sat down, the line was out the door! The decor is super cute and they have plenty of room if you want to sit either indoors or outdoors. There are cakes and gelato cakes, bread, cookies, cake slices, muffins, and more. Too many options to name all of which look delicious! The coffee is made fresh to order and the espresso was amazing. But the star was their famous rainbow cookie cheesecake. I bought a Napoleon cake from here for my husbands birthday awhile ago and just realized I apparently didn't review. Oops- the cake was a huge hit and La Roma deserves a positive review for it. They made the ordering process easy and pickup was smooth. I can't eat it myself (i'm gluten free- would love to see gluten free options in the future!) but only heard positive things about it. Although the service at the beginning was okay, I was highly disappointed in that my order was wrong. I ordered 40 cupcakes for a gender reveal with blue and pink swirl frosting and gold sparkles. When my husband went to pick them up, they had white frosting and white droppings, looked messy and it wasn't my order. Then, the worst thing happened when my husband went back to let the front lady know the order was wrong and she replied with "the blue is inside." Messed up the whole surprise for him!!! Terrible. Dumb lady had no sense of what a "gender reveal" is and instead of listening to what my husband was saying, she immediately tried to say that my husband was wrong until she checked the original order and saw she was wrong. About a year ago, my mom's birthday was coming up in less than a week and I forgot to get her a fondant cake. I went to Audrey's in Sayville and they told me they were unable to accommodate me for a fondant cake as they needed 2 weeks notice. I had never been to La Roma Pastry shop, but I decided to take a chance. I went in, explained to them I wanted a white fondant cake with an orchid. My mom loves orchids. At first, the counter person was hesitant. Then the owner, who happened to be the counter persons father, came out and said, "We can do it." In two days, they created the most beautiful and delicious cake I've ever had. My mom was so, so happy. The whole experience nearly brought me to tears as I could tell he really cared to do right by his customer. I would buy a cake again in a heart beat (not with two days notice lol)! I'll never forget what the owner said to me. He said, "If the cake is good, write a good review. If it's bad, write an ever better review!" It's super late, but better late than never!! read more

I went to La Roma in search of their Rainbow Cookie cupcake but fell in love with their fresh baked muffins!!!! I couldn't control myself long enough to take a picture. Imagine biting into this delectable blueberry muffin; in your parked car while still in their parking lot; hunched over the white paper bag it came in.... My brain was on overload from the sheer joy coming from my taste buds! It was absolutely the BEST muffin I ever ate! I choose the Almond Crumb Raspberry muffin for my son and that delicious muffin pushed me full force into a devoted fan of this bakery. Unfortunately or fortunately (for my lack of self control) I do not live close to this bakery! The drive from Levittown to Bohemia was well worth the trip. I have yet to eat the Rainbow Cookie Cupcake that I picked up so I will add to my review later....
