Get ready to wait in line for a sweet treat! So creamy, fresh, and delicious. Worth the walk and wait. We enjoyed pistachio, Dal which is sweet with a slight lemon flavor, mango, coconut. Really I think all flavors are worth a try. Service and staff was too notch.
Gelateria La Romana is a non-negotiable stop for anyone visiting Rome who wants truly exceptional gelato. The quality, flavor, and overall experience here make it the gold standard. The prices are also amazing for the amount you get, which makes it even better. The staff are excellent, friendly, and very patient. They offer helpful guidance if you're overwhelmed by the choices, and it's worth listening because everything is done with so much care. My favorite flavors were the caramello salato con noci pecan, the stracciatella, and the crema di nocciola al cioccolato bianco. All of them were incredibly smooth, balanced, and packed with flavor. This place consistently delivers incredible gelato with great service and great value. An easy five stars and a must-visit every time I'm in Rome.
This is my favorite gelato place in Rome! It is a cute, trendy spot that is always packed. They have a lot of fun seasonal flavors along with their staples so expect some tough decisions. We ordered a piccolo that gets you two flavors and picked pumpkin crumble pie and dalgona Pumpkin Crumble Pie- The pumpkin pie base is rich and creamy. It was spiced perfectly. The crumble pieces add a lovely contrasting texture. Dalgona- It has a creamy custardy base that isn't overly sweet. There are generous amounts of crumbled italian biscuit and dalgona pieces that are crunchy and caramely. A must try when you're in Rome!

If you're in Rome, La Romana Gelateria is an absolute must-visit! It's my favorite gelateria in the city. I always go for the pistachio and hazelnut flavors... they're rich, creamy, and simply amazing. There's usually a line, but don't worry, it moves pretty quickly, and trust me, it's worth the wait every time. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and I was especially happy to see the same lady who worked there almost two years ago still behind the counter. I showed her a video I took of the gelato and we had a good laugh about it. It's those small moments that make the place even more special!

This has to be the Best ice cream we had in Rome. It was recommended by my husband's friend that we must try it, and we walked and took transportation to be able to get here which was worth it. Staff were very friendly. I tried a few flavors. I got two and they were amazing! I don't recall what they were but they were so good! After that I got crepes as well. Highly highly recommend them!
This was our go to gelato spot when in Italy. The amount of times we visited is embarrassing lol the gelato is so good and they add chocolate to your cone if you prefer! The desserts are so yummy. If I could pack up this entire shop and take it home with me I would!
The best gelato in Italy. We have been to La Romana many times over many years and still consistently the best. The flavor options and authentic flavor taste, consistency of the gelato, service, all of it is the best. Be sure to try the flavors before ordering. Their desserts are also quite good. If you see a long line out the door don't be off put - it moves quickly.
La Romana is hands-down my favorite gelato -- not just in Rome, but anywhere. The gelato is incredibly creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The service is always warm and welcoming, and they never rush you. You're encouraged to take your time deciding, and they're happy to help you choose if you're unsure. On my most recent visit, I got Pistachio and Stracciatella -- my two favorites -- though they have a wide selection of delicious flavors to explore. La Romana is an absolute must-stop if you're in Rome (and they have multiple locations throughout the city). The gelato is amazing, and the service is just as sweet.
Best gelato!! It's so delicious and the selection is amazing and unique! Service is pleasant and fast. Thank you to that Filipino who served us, pleasant and nice guy. The ambiance is calm and comfortable. They have chairs inside for us tourists to sit on when we want to rest and enjoy our gelato. Grazie Mille!!

Overcrowded and overrated. They have limited flavors and like Gröm, they are all covered up so you can't really see them. Yes, they have a tiny room in the back where you can enjoy your gelato, but a cone is meant to be enjoyed on the go anyway. Yes, they pour Guanduia or Crema in the inside of your cone before filling it, but apart from that I don't see what all the fuss is about. Skip the line and walk down to Portofino down the street and you'll be happier you didn't wait. read more

Gelato kept in tins are the best! I must've tried 8 different flavours. Great service to make sure I liked what I was getting. Always my go to in Rome for gelato! They also have fresh whipped cream regular or eggnog flavour. Along with flowing chocolate fountain of white of milk chocolate! read more

MMm, not my favorite of the 12 gelatos I had during my trip to Italy, but props for good texture and interesting flavors. I actually jogged here from our lodging, about a 22 min walk, and ended up spraining my ankle getting there. Was it worth it? I guess so - our taxi driver recommended it and I can tell he's got good taste. My main gripe was that both the flavors I got were too too sweet. I also got the chocolate at the bottom, which actually seemed like it was nutella. It stayed liquidy too, which added to the whole messy, sticky sweet experience. I think I ended up dumping some of it on the way back. read more

I spent 6 nights/7 days in Rome and had gelato everyday. This gelateria was one of the first that I went to upon arrival and the one I wanted to visit before leaving. My wife didn't have it as her favorite, but I did and it was real close to our hotel so I won that fight, haha. First off: you have to pay for your order up front before selecting flavors. I'm assuming this is to prevent people from getting served and leaving without paying. This was the case for several gelaterias I visited so bear that in mind. Something unique about this gelateria is that they offer to fill the bottom of the cone with warm white or regular chocolate. It is a nice final treat as you finish off eating your cone - I'm not sure if they also do that for cups but I'm assuming so. They have the flavors listed above on individual boards. They also have menus available in English - as for other languages, I'm not too sure. Despite our visit taking place during the winter time (early January), there seemed to be a consistent flow of customers - it wasn't too busy but it can feel packed when everyone inside is bundled up to stay warm. Aside from gelato, they serve other desserts that are stored off to the left in a big refrigerator. I didn't try any of them but they're there. They have more seating towards the back in case the front is too packed. read more

the BEST gelato I have ever had. You have the option to put white it dark chocolate in your cone before the gelato and it is so fresh with AMAZING flavors. I topped mine with the whipped cream and it was to die for. I have dreamed about it every day since. Like seriously, have not gone a single day without think about how good it was. read more
I've had a couple of gelato'a during my stay in Rome, this place is definitely crazy good and the best gelato I've tried there. I tried several flavors, I was very confused but I had to settle with the 3 flavors that I ended up picking. All the flavors I tried were good, I almost wanted to eat the entire store, lol, good atmosphere and service. I would love to go back to Rome just to have this again. Definitely recommend visiting it read more

Truly 5 stars and the best gelato I ever had--hands down! Lines were out the door every night that I walked by. There's a rhythm to how you order: 1) pay what you would like to get 2) hand receipt and ask for your gelato in a cone or cup 3) pick either melted white or dark chocolate drizzled at the bottom of your gelato 4) pick gelato flavors and 5) pick the type of cream to top off your gelato (alcoholic or regular)! There is such a large number of flavors that all sounded delicious. I got the Crema and the Yogurt flavors and they were utterly amazing. They also have 1 euro Gelato Coninis in the fridge that are just very small cones of gelato that were very good as well (with different flavor options too!) in case you were a little too full to get a full order. This was a great find during our trip and I wish I could have gone more often! read more

We read reviews on this gelateria, so when we popped in trying to escape the fake tourist gelato traps, we had high expectations. Well it delivered and exceeded! Prepare yourself for a line that goes out the street, but moves quite fast. They have a nice system in place. We loved all of our flavors! The nonna ones were delicious! read more
Oh my God. Talk about quality for an amazing price! THE BEST GELATO I'VE HAD. For 2 euros, you can get the piccolo size gelato with a tasty cone (cup and cone cost the same) and they add chocolate to the bottom of it if you like it that way! I wish I had discovered this place sooner during our time in Rome! The nocciola (chocolate hazelnut, basically Nutella) flavor was to die for!! It had chocolate chunks and frank Nutella blended in. I tried that with the Biscotti flavor and the 2 flavors blended together so smoothly and perfectly! Definitely my favorite gelato spot in Rome! read more

This is the BEST gelato in Rome - you can't miss it!!! For only 2.20 euro, I got the most amazing gelato...the cone was filled with chocolate from a chocolate fountain on the inside, and then I got to select two flavors of gelato. They have so many incredible flavors but I went with the Cioccolato Fondente (rich and delicious) and the Stracciatella. Then, as if that wasn't beautiful enough, they offered me homemade whipped cream on top. After my resounding yes, I was handed one of the best desserts of my life. Gelateria La Romana since 1947 on the corner of Via Cola di Rienzo in Prati. Not only ice cream and frozen yogurt, but also a Creperie! Updated interiors in the classic building, contemporary design inside, one long counter along the side, with a selection of gelato flavors and fixings. Also a burner for crepe making. Several employees are minding to the customers from behind the counter. A couple of dozen flavors are available at a time. I usually look for chocolate and pistachio. Marble swirls with whipped cream on top, so good. And then there are crepes with delectable fillings, a decadent French dessert. This place was amazing! The space is lovely, the gelato was delicious, and there's a little park right across the street to enjoy it in. They have a rather large selection of flavors but I was having pistachio everywhere so that's what I got. It was so creamy, but maybe not the best flavor of all the gelato spots we tried in Italy. My husband definitely won this one because he went for the chocolate sauce in the bottom of the cone, the Zabaione gelato and the Zabaione whipped cream on top. Wow! It was so so good. This place has super cute decor with high ceilings, white cabinets, hardwood floors, great subway tiles, concrete. There is some seating inside (benches). Their gelatos were less expensive than many of the others we've had - €2.20 for a piccolo, medio is €2.70 (3 scoops). The texture was softer but good. Their ingredients seem to be fresher and less processed than some other places. We ended up getting - Miel e noci: like tart froyo flavor with walnuts - Zabaione: custardy with a hint of alcohol - Bacio: good hazelnut flavor I would definitely recommend the miel e nocci yogurt if you like tart froyo. One of the best gelato places that Lila and I visited during our 5 day trip in Rome! It was so good that we had gelato here 3 times yesterday (breakfast, lunch, and dinner!) We have also gone to it once today and are planning on going back later tonight (they close at midnight) for a crepe. This place can get packed, but the ladies here are great at filtering their clients in and out. They also are a bar (cafe) for those looking for that caffeine rush at any point of the day. The price for the gelato here is well worth it, we have only gotten the small gelato which is 2.20 in euros for two scoops in either a cup or cone and you can choose to have your cone filled with white or milk chocolate before getting the gelato and you could also top it off with whipped cream if that suits you. read more

By far the best gelato in Rome and we had our share. Get it with a crepe or sweet roll, and they actually have a chocolate fountain that they use to drizzle the inside of your cone. Most shocking of all, it's cheaper than all the others, when they've clearly set the bar for great ice cream in a town famous for it!!! This spot is a cant miss! read more

THE BEST gelato I've ever had. In Rome especially, which is saying something since we got gelato every day we were here (6 days) at a different place. I got stracciatella, chocolate, and hazelnut with plain whipped cream and with dark chocolate at the bottom. Service was great and the gelato was something I'll never forget. This place had a line down the street at 10:18 pm so we decided we had to stop in. For 2.5EUR we got a small (2 scoops) which was heavenly. I had a marscapone flavor and chocolate. Really fast service and yummy gelato! read more

Stayed at a hotel super close by so decided to try it out based on the reviews! As soon as we walked in they were so kind and inviting - talk about service with a smile :) The gelato is so so delicious!!! I'm no gelato expert but, it's best I've had. Very reasonable prices and the cafe is wonderful with tons of natural light. Will definitely be coming back while we're here! read more

My boyfriend and I travel to Paris, Venice and Rome over the New Year (2019). I have a love for ice cream that is unreal. I was SO excited to check out all THE BEST gelato places during our trip. I read great reviews for La Romana and it did not disappoint. I had Biscotto Della Nonna (Cookies and Cream) and it was amazing! They also have cheesecake served by the slice and crepes that looked and smelled amazing! La Romana, you get all 5 of my stars! read more
My favorite gelato / dessert shops in Rome! They have a lot of unique flavors but my favorites are the cream based ones like tiramisu, ciocolatino di luisa, cioccolato fondente, crema di castagna piemonte, etc. The shop is modern feeling and the servers were super friendly! During my week in Rome I went here several times, as they are all over the city. They also have other desserts like crepes but I didn't get a chance to try them. This gelateria is also in a prime location near the Vatican and Castel Sant' Angelo. read more

Easily one of my favorite gelato places in Rome. La Romana is very clean and everything tastes freshly made. For 2.70 euros you can get three scoops on a cone which is a standard price. They also take card here which is good since a lot of gelato places don't accept card. My favorite flavor is biscotti especially because it has bits and pieces of actual biscotti in it. Usually I don't like cones but get the cone and ask for the dark chocolate dipping. The home made whip cream is also really good to top off the gelato. read more
