Best gelatooooo ever!!! Really wow! Out of all of the gelato shops we've tried so far (we've eaten at so many this week oops), Fior di Luna has blown them all out of the ballpark. It's even better than Giolotti which had a huge line in Rome Centre. A friend recommended Fior di Luna, and we're so happy we tried it!! There is a large banner up front saying Fior di Luna's chef is the world champion of gelato, and now I believe it. We got three flavors: mango, lemon basil, and chocolate chip. Just so good. The lemon basil is shocking like a cold pesto almost, the mango creamy but also tart, and the chocolate chip perfection. The choco chip actually was my favorite, so beautifully creamy without being too sweet. Will be making another trip back to the Trastevere district for this!!! This was a cute shop that had a number of different desserts from cakes, different flavors of tiramisus, gelato, and cannolis! I thought the tiramisu was 5/5 and was pleasantly surprised by its light and fluffy texture. The cannoli was 4/5, I personally wanted a more flavorful cream especially since it was suppose to be a pistachio forward cannoli. read more

We read some articles before our Rome trip about how to tell what is a legit gelato spot. This place had the required traits. Covered gelato bins: check. Non-neon colored gelato: check. The flavors we tried were chocolate, pistachio, vanilla, and salted caramel peanut. In the nut flavors, you could taste and feel the actual chunks of those nuts. In the vanilla, the vanilla beans. All of the flavors were so natural both in their tastes and textures. I don't even like sweets and found these to be amazing. One of the best gelato places in Rome! Amidst the hundreds of fake gelato stores occupying space in Rome, it was wonderful to find this gem of a place based on a local's suggestion. We got a chocolate-based flavor, hazelnut, and stracciatella, where were all delicious! The gelato was rich, milkier, dense without adverse aftertastes, flavorful, and better than what I was hoping we would get during our trip to Rome. Good gelato spot in the middle of Trastavere, Rome! It's one of the cheapest spots I experienced. It was only 2.50 euros for a small cone, and you get two flavors. They let me pay with a credit card. This was one of our favorite gelatos that we had in Rome - they have two locations, and this one is located in Trastevere. We got a small ice cream of two flavors: pistachio and hazelnut. I would highly recommend both these flavors. They don't have that big of a selection of flavors, maybe 15-20. Both the hazelnut and gelato flavors we had were great, and didn't taste artificial. The pistachio was probably the best pistachio that we had in Italy (and I ate gelato every day for 10 days, sometimes 2 in one day). The pistachio wasn't some artificial green color, and it actually tasted like roasted pistachios. They did have whipped cream on top of the ice cream but it didn't taste particularly fresh to me - it was a bit sour and probably wasn't sweetened. I didn't like the whipped cream at all and would pass on it next time. Overall, really great pistachio gelato and I'd come back here again for this flavor. Worth a visit if you're in the area; it was one of our favorite gelato places in Rome. read more

The flavor choices are quite nice but between the less than attentive folks behind the counter and the mediocre gelato, i can't award more than 3 stars. Fio di Luna knocks it out of the park for location and quality. We stopped here on our usually passeggiata for a cup or a cone. The best flavors were biscuit (cookie crumbles and chocolate swirl) and hazelnut chocolate (you know, the typical favorite)! There are spots to sit, and it's very welcoming inside. Best gelato hands down. We tried a bunch of places over the course of our 4 night stay and we found ourselves coming back to Fiordiluna. Prices are cheap and they servers don't get mad if you try more than 3 flavors (not always the case at other places). You have to try the "Fred" flavor. You get two flavors per cup. Really enjoyed this place. A small spot that still managed to fit a handful of small tables with plenty of seats inside, this place was bright (clean!) and friendly from the start. The gentleman behind the counter was courteous, explaining items we weren't sure about, and making sure to ask if we wanted a second flavor (which is included in the price but we didn't even think about it at first). The gelato itself was delicious, and very reasonably priced (€2,50 for two scoops on a cone). Our first scoop, the duetto (hazelnut, pistachio, and chocolate), was absolutely divine. There were chunks of pistachios, hazelnuts, and chocolate sprinkled throughout the already flavorful gelato. But the basics are in order, and for dark chocolate lovers this is a good place to visit. And since the surroundings are so cute - maybe just go there for the cobblestone and narrow roads.
