Our first dinner in Rome, and we were disappointed. The pastas we got were not good. The cacio e pepe sauce was not even emulsified, so the sauce felt thick. The only thing that saved the meal was the coda alla vaccinara. Would not recommend this place.

I had high hopes for this place because of the reviews. The service was so so. They were very friendly but didn't come by hardly enough to see if you needed anything specially refills on your wine. The ingredients were really fresh specially the prawns but when I ordered the ribeye which should've been cooked medium rare they made it well done. The steak itself was really good quality but they waaaay overcooked it. If they had cooked it properly it would've been delicious! The fettuccine was really good but refills we had to chase them down to get more of. Definitely can see how this place can be a 5 star but tonight was definitely a miss for me

Great place to eat - had the lasagna which is the best I have eaten so far! Also the steak with green pepper sauce was great!

Really enjoyed this place! We came for a drink and ended up ordering two pasta dishes. One had bacon meatballs which were to die for with the spicy tomato sauce that accompanied it. Great atmosphere outside and attentive service. Would recommend for a drink and bite to eat!

Loved the vibe of the place Servers were extremely attentive. We missed our original reservation but they still made accommodations for our group of 3, maybe waited 30min. Waiters gave great wine pairings for the food we chose. Ordered the Oxtails in red sauce, soooooo good!!!! They were huge but unfortunately didn't pack too much meat on them. The deserts were delicious! Ordered a brownie cake & a cheesecake

We came here craving some seafood and we were not disappointed! Located in the heart of Trastevere, this place is right next to a great gelato shop and other great restaurants to try. But definitely come here for the calamari and seafood pasta dishes! They were so fresh and flavorful and I could not stop eating everything. Their chocolate tart was rich and delicious but the the tiramisu was a little cakey for my liking. The service was amazing and when my friend got a stain on her shirt they even had something to help fix that! Overall this was a great spot for pasta and seafood and is along a nice lively street. I recommend if you're in the area!

We actually ended up settling and coming here after not being able to get reservations for Hostaria Capo de Fero, but was not disappointed with our meal here! Was easy to make same day dinner reservations by calling for a party of 6. They sat us outside in the patio area where it was quite lively and we could hear live street music. Our server was really friendly and kept an attentive eye on us throughout our meal. They had a pretty extensive menu. We had * Sformatino Octopus (like a potato and cheese baked flan/souffle) - very well liked by the table. Octopus portion was generous. Great with their fresh bread. * Seafood Gazpacho - very hearty for gazpacho but i loved this. Such fun interesting flavors. Really fresh seafood with a pistchio crumble. * Vongole - this was rather disappointing. I would pass on this * Lobster Pasta - this was good but not nearly as good as the crab dish * Crab pasta - highlight of the dinner! Pasta mixed in with the buttery goodness of crab innards. Get ready to get messy as there's a generous portion of crab legs that come with this. Overall the prices were very reasonable, most of the food was great, and service friendly :)

A great restaurant in Italy! Great ambiance, delicious food and great service! The mixed seafood was great but I wish I would have ordered the filled with peppercorn cream sauce. My friend ordered it and it was delicious!

Been here a handful of times and I've always enjoyed it. The food is made simple, fresh and traditional. Price is very reasonable and it doesn't reek of a tourist trap. I much prefer to eat outside and people watch if possible since I'm normally traveling alone. Service is efficient and what I expect in the Trastevere area. I would say that this is a casual dining experience at a neighborhood favorite. After all, it was recommended to me by someone who lives near here.

This restaurant has some delicious options and is located in such a central cool area of Italy! Great selection of wines as well. I tried their Carbonara and it was amazing! Their Caprese salad was also delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Food was not the same level as many other restaurants around Trastevere. The menu was limited and the pasta did not even taste fresh.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

Would definitely return.

Our family of four was waiting to be seated when a local family of four arrived after us and was seated immediately. We were eventually seated right next to them, and they were served bread while we were ignored and received none. We ordered wine that was never brought to the table, and at one point a waiter who was not even serving us removed our wine glasses after we had already ordered the wine. The service throughout the meal was chaotic and rude. The artichoke dish was extremely bland -- no seasoning and no flavor at all. Most of the food was greasy and disappointing. To make matters worse, we were seated directly next to the kitchen where the cooks and waiters were loudly arguing throughout our meal. We understand that service in Italy is often slower and more relaxed, and we have enjoyed wonderful hospitality everywhere else during our trip. However, this was by far the worst service we experienced anywhere in Italy. We were even asked if we wanted the bill before we had finished eating, while the local family next to us remained seated comfortably long after finishing their meal. We left feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. Unfortunately, this restaurant seemed interested only in serving locals well. If you are not Italian, do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to tip a few euros because we enjoyed ourselves so much, but decided not to because of the way it was presented to the party before us.

He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. To be honest, he seemed like a bit of a jerk, but his food was freaking delicious.

It is a large restaurant and was full of lively patrons. The indoor decor is warm and inviting. The first thing I noticed was the camaraderie between the waitstaff - everyone seemed to get along, helped each other and were having fun. We had 2 wonderful Filipino waiters. One had the same Ray-Ban meta glasses as my husband, which they bonded over. We ordered the bombolotti carbonara and lasagna-both delicious. For the mains, grilled Turbot (which was perfectly de-boned tableside) and meatballs w/ mashed potatoes. While the waiter was de-boning the fish, the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver came on overhead. My husband and I both looked at each other and smiled, thinking WTH?! I asked the waiter, "did we tell you we were from West Virginia?" and he smiled and shook his head. But later confessed, he played it for us (I guess we did tell him, lol). It made our night. Rome was the last city in our multi-city 12 day tour and we loved every minute but we were looking forward to going home. Hearing "Country Roads" at a popular and busy restaurant a block away from the Spanish Steps blew our minds. A young couple sat next to us for a quick snack, I asked her what she ordered (it looked delicious) and she said "Im from a different part of Italy but come here just for their artichokes". A few minutes later, I saw a plate full of artichokes pass by, being brought to a table outside. They made my mouth water. Al 34 was one of our favorite restaurants in Italy -- wonderful food (extensive menu), very lively with a mixed crowd (lots of Asians, English speakers and native Italians). It is a fun place to go and the wait staff is one of the reasons I will be coming back. I cant wait to try their artichokes! If you see the word, carciofo (artichoke), order it!
