    Ravioli and Amatriciana

Family owned business with a Sicilian flare. We got there 30 minutes before closing and they were very welcoming and the food was great. We each ordered a red tomato based pasta and each was very flavorful in their own way. Highly recommend the house wine

    Cacio e Pepe and lasagna

The food was PHENOMENAL! The staff was impeccable and so attentive. The atmosphere was not too busy, very chill which was perfect. Highly recommend the cacio e pepe and the lasagna. The tiramisu was also to die for. 10/10 will recommend to anyone coming to Rome

Stopped in here for a quick lunch. It was empty when we got there but filled out pretty quickly. I had the spaghetti with seafood. It was pretty tasty. As other reviews have said, not the fanciest place, but the quality was good. The dish was a fair 15 euro. My boyfriend had gotten a stomach bug while in Rome, and he couldn't really eat anything, so the waiter suggested plain pasta. He ended up getting a small bowl of plain pasta (no sauce or anything) - and it cost 9 euro, which is absurd. Service was okay. Not a bad option if you're in the area, but not my favorite.

    Calamari -- So good!

This lovely restaurant is a gem, and the real thing. The restaurant was very cozy, and I believe is a family owned business. The owner was more than friendly, welcoming and funny. He mentioned that he was from Sicily, so I believe the food was more Sicilian Italian cuisine. It was delicious. The prices were more than extremely reasonable. Their local house wine was $12 for an entire bottle, and it was sooo good -- a must when coming here. We also ordered the calamari for appetizer, so different from American calamari. I don't think it was breaded at all, and tasted very fresh ... with a dash of lemon. We also ordered the home made ravioli, very delicious -- and tiramisu. I would strongly recommend stopping here at least once if you are in Rome. This place is darling!

One of our favorite meals in Rome! We stumbled upon this place and decided to pop in simply because of the name. We had been away from our dog (Milo) for two weeks ... and Melo is close enough! ;) I am SO happy we found this gem! The food was incredible (the gnocchi was the best I had) and the service was fantastic. Our waiter spoke pretty good english, enough to be making jokes with us! The owner also stopped by the table, he spoke hardly any english but came over just to say hello and brought us some delicious samples! This place was full of locals, and once you try the food you will see why!! They made us feel like family, and the food was incredible. We ended the meal with an incredible Cannoli, and FOUR complimentary limoncello shots! Such a fun place, incredible food and amazing atmosphere. A MUST visit when in Rome!

Salvatore was a very pleasant host

Having been thru Venice eating and now working on searching thru Rome, I have found my favorite restaurant by chance. The owner Salvatore who is Sicilian was a very pleasant host. All four persons at our table ordered something different and it was all very good. I ordered the ravioli and I have attached the pix below of my enjoyment. The wine comes from some type of big vat from some local winery and was just wonderful The place was so good I ordered a extra plate of spaghetti. Definitely worth going to.

The service was good and fast. We both had the ravioli, which tasted pretty bland. We had tiramisu and cannelloni. The tiramisu was not very good. The cannelloni (which we are too quickly to photograph) was however much better. I would probably chose another location to eat again, but it was an acceptable meal.

Amazing atmosphere with delicious food and friendly staff! This restaurant or "ristorante" is tucked away on the stairs going towards the Trajan's Column. Very modest unassuming front, but after the initial entrance it opens to a very cozy seating area. We ordered a Veal dish, Ravioli and some of their house wine. All exceptional, and very reasonably priced.

    Red house wine and bread

My wife and I had to visit this restaurant twice during our stay because it was so great and we were treated like family. Please don't go here if you are looking for a burger or fries. Here you will find best pasta, lasagna and tasty house wine. Do try to put in the effort to get to know your server and the owner; fantastic people.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you're sitting outside on a sunny day, the staff is very attentive about adjusting the shades so you're comfortable. They will adjust even without you having to ask. I ordered the artichoke as an appetizer which was very good, I recommend getting this if they are in season. I also ordered the carbonara, and it was by far the best I had while in Rome perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell they focus on doing the classics right. What stood out beyond the food was how efficiently the staff operated. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, they move quickly and keep everything running smoothly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Rome. Expect a wait, but it's 100% worth it for the quality of the food and service.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
