two tacos on a white plate
    Ivan K.

I was invited here for an event and got to try a tasting menu. Overall, I really enjoyed the food. The soup was okay, but I'm very picky with my soups. The tacos however were delicious and the ceviche was to die for. If you come here, you HAVE to try their foie gras mayo, I can't even describe how good it was. The portions seemed a little small, but this is understandable because it was an event. It is also a BYOB which is a plus. I'm very interested in coming back here to try their regular menu and will definitely edit my comment and recommendations once I do so.

A friend suggested this place as he's been here a few times and so we decided to check this place out together; it's a byob which I'm always happy about and also offers a tasting menus at an incredibly low prices. My first reaction was: what's the catch?? This Mexican restaurant is small with simple decor and minimal kitch, and is nestled in a corner of the plateau near an SAQ: how convenient! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and our waitress was quick to serve and friendly. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu and everything was pleasantly delicious; from the poblano soup to the ceviche and tacos, each course was tastier than the last, beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. My dinning partner surprised me with a seventh dish of cricket taco?!! Ambivalent at first, I would say it was my favourite dish of all, and nothing like I expected. The tangy and chewy crickets, soft avocado, pickled onions and slightly sweetened salsa on a perfect corn tortilla made for a perfect pocket of pure pleasure..;) I especially liked that the waitress took taking the time to explain every one of the dishes prepared by the very talented chef Ali. I would return for a great meal at a low cost once the menu changes up, which it does so seasonally. I think this restaurant has the potential of being more, if they add a little class to the table and maybe a fresh paint of colour on the walls to liven it up from it's drab interior but overall, I really enjoyed this space, the food and the service.

It took a while to get a reservation for this restaurant since it's a very small place. I think they have max 10 tables. I was able to snatch a booming last Saturday for our party of 10. There are two sittings. 5:30-8pm and 8:30-11pm. They are very strict about these times as the staff eats in between two sittings so the restaurant is closed. Only two waiters but the Service was good and efficient. I had the tilapia ceviche and this was my favourite dish of the night. The fish was so fresh and the sauce was tangy and just perfect. I also tried the shrimp tacos the steak tacos and the tortilla rolls (enmoladas) The steak was a bit tough - I added the foie gras mayo and it made it a lot less dry. The shrimp tacos were the best out of the 3. The enmoladas are very special they are covered in a sort of chocolate sauce which is different but I wouldn't order this again. I got to taste the creme brûler and it was very good. They offered the birthday girl her meal which was a very nice gesture. I would go back and try other dishes for sure because the prices are very good and it's a bring your own wine which is amazing.

A very nice experience, the TABLE D'HÔTE was great! The guacamole was delicious and steak tacos too. We were a group of 9 and everyone enjoyed their meal. Would go back for sure.

busy little place 34 seats on the night we went there were two cooks in the tiny kitchen and one server we opted for the tasting menu which as it has been mentioned was 6 courses for 28 dollars there is also a 4 course option but i forget the price you dont get to choose what you get but let me tell you that even though by the second one i was stuffed i could not stop eating because each was better than the one before we had tomato soup tilapia ceviche tuna tartar cochinita taco pato pibíl grill octopus just typing these names is oversimplifying the amazingness of it all but i do want to get an idea of what you are getting service is great particularly in light of having one server if she got a bit bogged down then the kitchen would step in and help truly a great experience

I've discovered this BYOB place recently and I'm their new fan. The decor is casual but cute, the ambiance is relaxing, the service is great and their prices are extremely affordable. The food is great, I really like their take on ceviche and its presentation. My carne asada was juicy and delicious. It's a great place to have a dinner with friends or family and I'll definitely will be coming back there again!

It was nice and spicy and the portion was generous. The shrimp, though numerous, were a little rubbery. Service was friendly. If you like Peruvian food, this is the place for you.

You might think, why do they do that, that's not fresh... Well, the fish there are more flavourful, bigger and just all-around better in quality (for the kind of fish that are used on those dishes, like if they needed salmon I'm sure they would just use the local ones). They had good prices and were really accommodating (considering there were a handful of kids around), it's probably a good place to go in groups. We had ceviche, jalea and other sea food from the menu (I mean, it has a Nautical theme going on so how could I not), but the real MVP was the lúcuma mousse dessert. So, so, so good, lúcuma is my favourite fruit and I had yet to go to a place where I found a lúcuma dessert that was worth it (*cough cough* Mochica) and this one is! I've moved really close to it so expect to see my face here more often. Looking forward to try that Leche de Tigre on hungover days!

We ordered the lunch special, which includes an appetizer, one of the main dishes from the lunch menu, and a juice or coffee. I had the fried calamari and the pollo saltado. Both were very good and served in decent portions. I wanted to try their suspiro de limeña, but unfortunately, even though it's listed on the menu, they didn't have it available. I opted for the tres leches cake instead it was tasty, just a bit too milky for my preference. Overall, I found the lunch pricing to be very fair, and everything we had was really good

If it helps any, both restos are named after popular districts in Peru. The owner also operates two other Peruvian eateries in Montreal so this one is their latest endeavor. I ordered 2 ceviches--one to eat and one to go. The only difference between the ceviche Miraflores versus the Mixed is the presence of 1 green mussel, some tiny octopus legs, and a few chewy calamari pieces. The place was really quiet at lunch on Sunday and happily, parking in the city is free before 1pm so we found a spot literally across the street. Inside, there's booth and regular seating. In the summer, the front of the restaurant opens completely to the street but it's about 3 feet above the sidewalk. On the tv behind the bar, they have Peruvian music videos playing and a tall stack of alfajores under a glass dome on the counter. I think the newness shows. They didn't have any chicha morada (gasp!!) even since the very opening. So I opted instead for the fresh passion fruit juice which was really good! They surprisingly also didn't have yucca fries on the menu which seemed like an obvious item to have. But the kitchen was nice and assembled on the fly a first attempt at yucca fries and charged us for the price of regular potato fries. For their first month of operation, I'd give them a 6.5-7/10 since they're still ironing out some issues like presentation. They're not as hip as Barranco and the vision for the menu is not quite yet clear. The staff was nice and accommodating even though they didn't have some items on the menu. Taste wise, the food needs just a bit more refining to really nail a solid concept/identity. The ceviche was fresh but a touch too tangy and the impromptu yucca fries were more on the mealy side. The pesto tomato appetizers were a nice little treat. They've still got a little ways to go if they want to be neck and neck with the neighbor (Barranco) but I'll watch where they go from here in the next couple of months!
