A few months ago we needed a hydro jetting service done to our sewer line, so we called LA Sewer Inspectors and they sent Greg out to the property. He arrived on time and immediately got to work. As he started to use the water to clean out the line, he noticed water backing up in the sewer line. It was draining slowly, so he carefully tried again and the same thing happened. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Greg showed us the video and explained what was happening and said he wasn't able to continue the hydrojet service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He noticed that when he ran the camera down there it seemed like it would hit a blockage or wall but upon closer inspection with the camera it was clear. There was nothing there, but Greg already knew what it was. He suspected it was a sewer liner that was somehow blocking our access. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Greg told us to contact city sanitation and let them know our sewer line appeared to have a liner blocking it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We made the call and the city came out within a couple hours. They checked their main line and said they had not worked on it and had not put in any liners recently. Then they asked if any neighbors had sewer work done recently. We then remembered our neighbor had a liner installed to her sewer line previously. The city told us to contact the neighbor's plumbing company to tell them to unblock our sewer line access. The story gets longer from there as her shady plumbing company tried to say it was our problem (that they blocked our sewer line access). So the city intervened on our behalf and not-so-politely informed them that it was their responsibility to remedy the situation or else. They corrected it at their own $1,000 expense and Greg was able to come back out a week later and perform the hydro jetting service. He noted the restored access to our sewer line and that everything was as it should be. It goes without saying that we trust LASI to see what we can't and to inform us when things aren't always so simple or straightforward. I can't recommend them enough when you want to check your sewer line or do a hydrojet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just call the office and talk to Melissa. I probably should have gotten a hydro-jet a couple years ago, but after a few backups from my sewer line, I looked up their initial report that was super detailed and gave them a call. They still had my report on file and showed up fully knowledgable and ready to go. The previous inspection (prior to buying the house 3 1/2 years ago) was almost the same as this one: step by step communication to keep me apprised of what was happening and what was found. His high spirit personality coupled with a great sense of humor made me feel, indeed, like an old friend. I'm a real estate agent so I've seen plenty of sewer line inspection reports. No one, and I mean no one has come close to the professionalism, expertise, and clear, detailed explanation that Nicholas Bylsma and his team at LA Sewer Inspectors does. The clearly, carefully narrated videos offer commentary on the line being inspected and often put it in the context of a typical sewer line and/or the history and characteristics of the materials used (clay, cast iron, plastic, etc). And the written report couldn't be more detailed and explanatory, yet incredibly easy to follow and understand. On top of it all, LASI are one of the very few specialist inspectors I've come across who do NOT do repair or installation work themselves. So their opinion is not colored by any hidden agenda for a contracting work bid. And this is all they do (inspections and hydro-jet cleaning). In my most recent experience with LASI, they really outdid themselves. I was representing a seller and the buyer brought in another company to inspect the sewer line. That company was unable to get out past the sidewalk to the city sewer connection so the report we had in hand was incomplete yet still recommended a 30 foot section of pipe be replaced, including installation of a new cleanout/access point that would facilitate a view of the entire line. Because the seller is responsible for providing inspection access to the buyer, my seller client was looking at spending $2000-$4000 or more. Nicholas came, was able to easily inspect the entire line all the way to the city connection, and determined that pipe replacement wasn't an urgent/immediate need. Saved my client thousands of dollars and, as usual, was incredibly clear, calm, and professional. What's not to love? They are always on time, they do a thorough job and the prices seem fair. I've used them when buying a property and also just for the occasional drain checkup and landscape drain investigation. I've used them no less than five times and have met at least four of their techs... it's always the same quality. If I remember correctly, they don't do any other work beyond camera inspection and hydrojetting... so you are never worried (as you might be with other plumbing companies) that they are trying to steer you toward repairs of any kind. But, really, once you've met them you realize that they are not the types to steer you toward unnecessary work regardless. The whole process is pretty cool. They do their camera work while accompanying it with an on-site, non-stop, real-time oratory of what the camera is seeing. Later they send you the link to go look at the video with the accompanying verbal description of what you are looking at. I mean, it's hard to get TOO excited about drain inspection but they make it as cool as it's gonna get. read more

This is the place I will call for any hydrojetting or sewer inspection needs. I called them last week and they were able to send someone out this week to do the inspection. Greg came out a couple of years ago to do a camera inspection and I was happy to see that he was the one who came out again today. He's a super nice guy and a pleasure to talk to. We could probably talk for hours. I like that with the camera inspection they send a YouTube video out and a narration of everything that I am looking at. Their prices have gone up since the last time I used them and it is higher than their competitors, at least what I see advertised in the mailers. As a realtor, I have had quite a few sewer inspectors, and Nick and his team are the only one I use now. They go above and beyond on every job site, despite the difficulty. Nicholas was amazing. I needed to have an inspection for the sale of my house. He showed up promptly with equipment and completed the inspection within an hour. The sewer line was comprised of plastic and clay, 4' diameter and 6" diameter. He let me watch the screen as the camera snaked it's way through the pipe, The camera was showing, roots, cracks and the joints all the way to the main city sewer line under the street. Nicholas explained everything I was seeing and the condiction of the pipe. Later that day he emailed a detailed report which included a link to the video of the inspection.
